You would have thought, what with Mercedes Benz fashion week going on in New York, and the re-opening party of Chanel’s boutique store in Soho, NYC, that no one would have dared put a fashion foot wrong. And certainly not Heidi Klum. Well, she’s all surprised us with a complete stonker (or stinker, tee hee) of an outfit at the final catwalk show for Project Runway. The same can be said for fashion designer Betsey Johnson.. more of that in the gallery below.
Less surprisingly was that the Brits have been letting the side down as usual. And it’s the same bevy of glamour girls and soap actresses. Jordan and Tracey Emin, I’m looking at you. You put old Blighty to shame.
If you want to put in your two cents about this week’s shameful dressers, vote in the poll below and leave your comments. We want to know which turkey of an outfit gets your vote.
My favorite was Carmen Marc Valvo’s dress, too bad Katie Couric puts on such an annoying show of “OMG, like I can’t believe I’m DOING THIS! I’m a serious journalist!” Yeah, right. Joining Ms. Couric were Jenni Garth in Badgley Mischka, Brittany Snow in Marchesa and Tori Spelling in Betsey Johnson, among others.

It’s always worth watching the Betsey Johnson show rather than just looking at the pictures, not just for the designer’s trademark cartwheel at the end of the show (no joke!) but also for the fun poses the models pull as they hit the end of the runway. Betsey’s shows are always about girlie, feminine fun, and this season’s offering doesn’t disappoint. I dare you not to smile!
Betsey Johnson isn’t your average working woman celebrating 30 years at the office with a sit-down dinner and retirement. Johnson, seen here backstage at her fall 2008 show, is focused not on winding down but on the future of her label.
“We are at the slam dunk, great part of reinventing this company,” Johnson told WWD. “We did establish a look, a feel, a customer, a real vibe. It was a vibe that was as much edgy as it was pretty.”
But what’s next? Is the punk rock princess of yore to be phased out?
There isn’t a more iconic pair of shoes in American history than Dorothy’s ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz.”
And now, the most iconic shoe designers from around the world are going to show us their spin on the ultimate sparkly pumps.
For the 70th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” Warner Bros. and Swarovski have selected 19 designers to create their interpretations of Dorothy’s slippers to commemorate the event.

Betsey Johnson’s spring dresses are all about patterns with polka dots and checks galore.
The gingham cotton lycra flare dress, $285, looks a little like something Paris Hilton would have worn on The Simple Life. But Betsey is nothing if not humorous and a bit kitsch, so you could totally run with that concept. We would recommend ditching the strings and making this dress strapless.
Continueing our roundup of trend reports, Gemma from Catwalk Queen brings us this feminine fancy.
Dipping your toes into the waters of the romance trend doesn’t necessarily mean you have to cover yourself in fluffy pink frills, but as the above pictures prove, you can do if you want! Over-the-top femininity and romantic ruffles were all over the catwalks for Spring / Summer with even die-hard body con fans like Christopher Kane giving in to a bit of peach chiffon. See below the cut for loads more catwalk looks for the ethereal beauty in you…
It was no surprise that it was all about platforms and bright colors at Betsey Johnson’s Fall 2008 fashion show last week. What’s actually kind of surprising is how well they’ll go with your fall wardrobe! Of course heels have been getting higher and higher, but all the pinks and blues on Betsey’s catwalk are actually on trend instead of going against them. Or maybe everyone else has just finally come around to Betsey’s rainbow point of view. Either way, bright platforms with colored tights will keep you in fashion this fall.
No staid stomping here, the models at Betsey Johnson bounce down the runway with balloons during their final turn. The fashions were classic Betsey with bright colors, whimsical prints, and a sexy silhouettes. It was surprising to see a lot of red, white, and blue which is typically a preppy look, but Betsey made it rock.

If the runway was a birthday party, the set was a beatnick bistro, as evidenced by “Beat Chick” scrawled across the show notes and Betsey staffers in black and white striped shirts. Keep reading for more videos!
This was my first Betsey Johnson show, and I knew it would be different than the other shows, but I didn’t know the difference would be so immediate and so exaggerated. Right when you walk backstage, you know that only Betsey Johnson, seen above with hair stylist Italo Gregorio, could throw a party like this mere hours before her runway show. A birthday party to be more specific, this year marks 30 years since Johnson formed a partnership with Chantal Bacon and launched the Betsey Johnson label that we love today.
