New York Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson
The invitations to Betsey Johnson’s spring show were decorated with images of Johnson’s own 1958 prom, where she was crowned prom queen. Her collection matched the invites perfectly. Models were sent down the runway in prom dresses by decade, from the 1950s to today. Puffy sleeves and rhinestones for the ’60s, a yellow gown with matching yellow jacket adorned with daisy decorations for the ’70s, and of course punk and glam for the ’80s. For the final look, four models strode down the runway, taking off their shirts to reveal VOTE spelled across their backs.
