Beyonce Knowles spent £9,000 in a 90-minute shopping spree.
The ‘Run the World (Girls)’ hitmaker – who is married to rapper Jay-Z – stunned onlookers in London’s Oxford Street yesterday when she spent £5,000 in the city’s flagship Topshop store before moving on to Selfridges, where she added another £4,000 to her clothing bill.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was like that shopping scene out of the film ‘Pretty Woman’.
“Everyone was gobsmacked by the speed she was choosing clothes. When she hit the shoe section she picked up even more speed. The woman clearly loves footwear.”
Last month, Beyonce splashed out on 25 pairs of designer shoes as a 25th birthday gift for her sister Solange.
Beyonce, 29, is known for her generosity towards her loved ones, last year she treated Jay-Z to a $2 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport car – the world’s fastest road vehicle – for his 41st birthday on December 4.
The ’99 Problems’ rapper – who already has a vast car collection, was thrilled with the surprise speedy gift, which Beyonce had to order a year in advance.
Julien Macdonald has always dreamed of dressing Beyonce Knowles.
The Welsh designer was thrilled when the ‘Run the World (Girls)’ hitmaker wore his creations three times in a week, including on the ‘Good Morning America’ show and admits he is a big fan of the star.
He said: “Creating a look for Beyonce has been a long term dream of mine, as I have been a fan for a very long time.
“I feel incredibly flattered she has chosen my design to represent her on such an international platform.”
Julien – a former British Fashion Designer of the year – felt “honoured” to have been chosen to design for the singer and believes his creations showed the best of his brand.
He added to Vogue.com: “Meeting Beyonce to discuss this collaboration, and the whole design process, has been an incredible experience. I’m honoured to have worked with her.
“The fringed knitwear dress which I have created for her reflects the knitwear heritage and very best of the Julien Macdonald brand.”
While Julien loved designing for Beyonce, he recently experienced a less star-studded platform for his creations when he returned to Wales to join forces with Jeff Banks to put on a charity fashion event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Nurses and cancer survivors took to the catwalk along with local celebrities and models.
Julien said: “We’ve got five local girls lining up alongside celebrities and sportsmen in some glamorous dresses and we are all helping a great cause.”
It’s a good time to be Beyonce right now. Fiercer and more on top of her fashion game than ever, everyone has been talking about her incredible headlining performance at Glastonbury on Sunday (if you didn’t see it look it up on Youtube RIGHT NOW – the woman was phenomenal).
Which is why yesterday’s launch party for her new album, 4, was a cool and eclectic mix of celebrities all there to mingle and celebrate their love of Miss B. From fashion designers to DJs and pop stars and beyond, everyone was there.
Representing the fashion world alongside Julien McDonald was Stella McCartney, looking sleek and graceful in a pretty and retro sequinned butterfly top with skinny jeans and a simple tan clutch. Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Parisian society girl, was also there looking stunning in an understated lace dress with her hair drawn back in a ballerina bun.
Less low-key was Paloma Faith in a theatrical feather-hat and a pair of the tiniest shorts we’ve ever seen, but are we surprised? No, not really. We love Paloma’s complete inability to dress appropriately for an event – it makes her a joy to write about. We have to say that she was flaunting some curves to rival Beyonce herself.
As for musical talent, there was a cool and diverse mix of different artists and styles present. We were surprised to see that Kills singer, Alisson Mosshart was there – who’d have known she was a Beyonce fan? (But then again, who isn’t?) Anyway, she looked cool in a low-key band shirt and black denim teamed with a slouchy denim-look shirt, an outfit that set off her shaggy black mane perfectly. Also there rocking a more laid-back look was up-and-coming Scottish DJ Yasmin, who’s already played Glasto this summer and is tipped to be a chart star, looking pretty and understated in some sawn-off dungarees and hot-pink wedges to set off her post-festival tan. We’re going to be watching this girl’s style from now on.
Meanwhile, pop’s divas were out in full force as well. Jade from the Sugababes was spotted at the launch looking amazing in an unbelievably short digital-printed cocktail dress with studded cut-out patterns. We have to find out where that dress is from! It worked perfectly against sexy evening makeup and some soft 70s-inspired waves.
And last but certainly not least, Alexandra Burke made an appearance wearing a simple knitted dress that gave a nod to the latest folk and 70s trends. A perfect summer outfit that rounds off today’s “Spotted” gallery perfectly. To see all the stars at Beyonce’s album launch party, check out the images above.
Kimberley Walsh says she is inspired by curvy women like Beyonce Knowles when she dresses.
The shapely Girls Aloud singer said she chooses clothes that suit her figure and looks to other celebrities such as Beyonce and Halle Berry for ideas.
The beautiful pop star, who is dating Justin Scott, said: “I guess I tend to look towards curvier women like Beyonce and see what looks good on them. And Halle Berry also has a great body. If I had her figure I don’t think I’d complain!”
The 29 year old – who is taking a break from music to build a career as a TV presenter – added she likes to dress to a 50s style to flatter her shape – and she has learned not to get too hung up on her body flaws.
She said: “I always dress to suit my shape. I won’t wear a trend if it doesn’t suit my figure. I love that whole 50s style, mainly because it suits my body shape, rather than it being a trend.
“I’d like to have longer legs – but wouldn’t everyone? It’s just the way it is. But they probably wouldn’t look right with the rest of my shape anyway!”
Fashion design is not new for Beyonce and in the past she’s had a collection of jeans, accessories and dresses.
However, while other designers are showing off their A/W ranges in mnimal shots, showing off sleek trouser lines and plain tops, the singer has decided to go into fashion overload for her fall 2010 House of Deréon ads.
Posing on a motorbike and showing off her tattoos, the designer’s cute puff sleeve dress and fierce on-trend ankle boots are lost.

Psst…Could Victoria Beckham be designing a range for Beyonce? If the rumour mill is anything to go by then the answer is yes.
According to The Mirror Posh has been enlisted by the superstar to create outfits for her next tour. However, instead of the outrageous designs she usually wears, she’s apparently asked for full length and elegant.
If this is true then Posh should be extremely proud. Beyonce is known for her stunning show outfits and in the past has used high profile designers such as Herve Leger, Versace and Armani. And with this in mind it’s clear Vicks is really making a name for herself in the fashion industry.
There’s enough fashion content in Beyonce’s and Lady Gaga‘s Telephone video to start an alternative fashion week. We’ve seen PVC, pirate hats, chains and head pieces galore as well as a range of undies and costumes.
However one scene that really sticks out is the one towards the end when Beyonce and Lady G take to the stage, or in this case Diner floor, in American style outfits. And we’ve decided to put the talented singers up against each other to see who carries it off the best.
It’s the video we’ve all been waiting to see; Lady Gaga‘s and Beyonce’s collaboration for Telephone. And even if you don’t heart the music it’s worth watching it for the sheer amount of outfits sported by the two singing sensations.
Lady Gaga sets the tone for the trends when she steps out into a prison scene clad in a PVCblack and white striped dress, similar to the one that gave her problems on the plane last week, complete with Lady G statement sharp shoulders. In a tribute to the song she wears a coke can (yes you read right) in her barnet.
And the wacky outfits don’t end there. In a parody to prison attire Miss G dons chains, complete with leather skirt and jacket before taking it all off to show off a studded bra and knicker set. And those worried that the trademark headpieces had been lost, fear not, because the pirate hat and telephone, er, hat? all make up for it.
And it’s not just the Lady that makes a play for the PVC, with Beyonce donning a few of these herself, we particularly love her yellow PVC dress and matching hat, which matches the Kill Bill ethos, and Pussy Wagon the girls drive around it.
We think its the best funky fashion show we’ve seen for a very long time!

We’ve fallen in love with Nintendo’s Style Savvy game for the DS and DSI, which is our ultimate definition of fashion fun.
Afterall, what fashionista wouldn’t love being able to run her own virtual clothing boutique, style customers and participate in catwalk shows?
And now it seems this game is about to get better.
Beyonce has decided to lend a hand and offer gamers the chance to style their virtual customers in the same clothes she wears.
She’s giving Nintendo five designs from the real-life Deréon clothing line, created by herself and her mum, Tina Knowles.
Beyonce said: “Style Savvy is all about creativity and fashion, both of which are really important to me.”
Although exact download dates have not yet been released, Nintendo has said it expects the designs to be available in the very near future. We can’t wait, after all what could be better than a Beyonce fashion clone?
It was another evening of hair, makeup, heels and glam dresses for celebrities with the EMI Grammys taking place last night.
Singers and film starlets arrived looking turned out for the 52nd annual event in Los Angeles including Rihanna, who wore a gorgeous white high neck dress complete with feathers and sparkles. Beyonce, who scooped up a wooping six awards including song of the year, best R&B song and best R&B female vocal – all for Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), was also a winner in the style stakes wearing a plunge neck gold and white beaded dress.
And it seems white was the colour du jour for stars this year, joining Rihanna in the white stakes was R&B singer Toni Braxton, and country-pop singer Taylor Swift, who wore a white tunic style dress backstage before changing into a gorgeous sequined mermaid dress to collect her four awards.
Following the mermaid dress trend was Katy Perry who looked absolutely stunning in her sequined and organza frock next to fiance Russell Brand at the 2010 EMI Grammy Party at the W Hollywood Hotel.
Whatever you may think of them, celebrities have always been amazing at turning up and helping at charity events, and the Haiti Telethon events, which took place over the weekend in Los Angeles, New York and our very own London really showed this.
A-listers including Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and Beyonce turned up in their droves to help raise a record breaking £35 million for victims of the earthquake. And while some took to the stage to get that money pouring in, others were more than happy to take a backstage seat answering donation calls.
However, no matter what they decided to do they looked gorgeous, especially Beyonce and Rihanna who attended the Hope For Haiti Now concert, at The Hospital Club in London.
