Mila Kunis thinks she’s “not good” at being sexy

By emilyborrett on August 22nd, 2011

The sultry Friends With Benefits actress Mila Kunis thinks she’s “not good” at being sexy. Really?

Mila, who has admitted to not understanding her new sex-symbol status, however puts as much effort as possible into her sex scenes because she hates unconvincing performances.

She said: “I’m not good at sexy. But there are so many women on the big screen who are so false you just don’t buy it. There’s nothing about them that you believe. It feels so put on. You can feel them mugging for the camera. It’s like their face is raping me, so I know I don’t want to do that.”

I think any bloke who’s seen her girlie scene with Natalie Portman in Black Swan would beg to differ about her apparent lack of sexiness.  Still, it’s nice to see a star who’s a little more down to earth, no? We’re looking forward to the new movie.

Mila Kunis loves her new sex-symbol status

By emilyborrett on August 8th, 2011

The actress Mila Kunis is extremely happy about her new sex-symbol status and loves that so many men find her attractive.

For those that don’t know, you may (your boyfriend definitely will) remember her from her role in Black Swan, in which she had a steamy girl-on-girl scene with Natalie Portman. Mila says she’s thrilled but completely surprised that she’s now a public sex symbol.

Mila said on her new pin-up status, “It’s insane. Listen, I couldn’t be happier to get any of this, because I think it’s hysterical and it makes all my friends laugh. If somebody finds me attractive, God bless them, I think it’s fantastic.”

Mila’s certainly come a long way from voicing the dumpy teen Meg Griffin in Family Guy, that’s for sure.

Natalie Portman has a baby boy

By Andrea Petrou on June 15th, 2011

Natalie Portman has become a mother for the first time.

The Oscar-winning actress – who is engaged to choreographer Benjamin Millepied – gave birth to a baby boy, although no further details have been released.

The couple met on the set of ‘Black Swan’ and while they were thrilled at the news Natalie was expecting, she recently revealed they refused to buy any baby stuff until the tot arrived because of her Jewish upbringing.

She said: “I think it’s a Jewish thing to be kind of superstitious. You don’t do any of the baby stuff before the baby arrives.”

However, one thing Natalie did do during her pregnancy was give up veganism.

The 30-year-old star became vegetarian when she was eight, and further eliminated all animal products from her diet in 2009, but re-introduced dairy to her diet since falling pregnant.

She said: “I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff.

“I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff. I know there are people who do stay vegan, but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in your diet.”

Throughout her pregnancy Natalie paid tribute to her parents Avner and Shelley Hershlag, saying she hoped to look after her child in the same way that she was brought up.

She said: “If I am a shadow as good a parent, an echo, then I will be the best in the world, so thank you.”

Natalie Portman supports gay marriage

By Andrea Petrou on June 7th, 2011

Natalie Portman has signed Freedom to Marry’s Say, “I Do” letter to President Barack Obama asking for marriage equality for gay couples.

The Oscar-winning actress and her fiance Benjamin Millepied – with whom she is expecting her first child – believe all US citizens should have the right to wed and have joined more than 100,000 people in supporting the campaign.

Evan Wolfson, president of campaign group Freedom to Marry, said: “Natalie Portman and her fiance, Benjamin Millepied, are in love, and believe all loving couples should be able to share in the freedom to marry without discrimination.

“That is why they are joining the more than 100,000 people on Freedom to Marry’s Say, “I Do” Open Letter calling on the president to do the right think and become part of America’s majority for marriage.”

A large number of celebrities have previously signed the letter – which asks President Obama to “clarify” the situation about gay marriage in the US – including openly lesbian ‘Glee’ star Jane Lynch, actress Anne Hathaway and Martin Sheen.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have previously indicated they would not get married until gay couples have the right to do so in America.

Mila Kunis was happy to go back to her normal body size after working on ‘Black Swan’.

By Andrea Petrou on March 21st, 2011

Mila Kunis was happy to go back to her normal body size after working on ‘Black Swan’.

The actress – who stars opposite Natalie Portman in the Darren Aronofsky – directed psychological thriller about a troubled ballet dancer – had to lose weight to become a typical dancer in the film, but was grateful to stop working out when it had wrapped.

She said: “To be able to pretend to be a ballerina for five months was great – but boy, was I happy to get out of that life.”

However the Hollywood beauty did enjoy the “challenge” of becoming so physically fit.

She said: “The best part was the challenge of it, the challenge of changing your body.”

Natalie – who won the Best Actress Oscar for the role earlier this year – worked out for eight hours a day to get as thin as she could to play a dancer.

Discussing it recently, she said: “You are constantly putting your body through extreme pain, so you get that understanding of the self-flagellation of a ballet dancer.”

Licorice Gold Ballerina Flats

For the ultimate in shoe eye candy, you can't go wrong with these sparkle-dusted flats from Miss KG.

Thanks to the Black Swan phenomenon that’s had absolutely everyone talking, fashion is all about ballet right now. From costume-esque ornate ruffles and adornment at Marchesa and sweet, sugary colours at Stella McCartney, ballet has never been so hot. However, being a ballerina is really really hard (I’ve been doing ballet workouts at home and think I may never walk again), but dressing like one is really very easy and perfect for this spring.

The real, traditional dancer shoes are both painful (or so I’ve heard) and not practical for traipsing up and down the shops in, but ballet flats are. We all own a pair, but with fashion’s obsession with clogs, wedges and skyscraping heels recently we may not have been showing ours as much love as they deserve. After all, they’re our best friend after a long night out in stilettos- we wouldn’t be able to manage the walk of shame home without them. So we’ve searched the high street and found our top 5 favourite ballerina flats out at the moment, ranging from luxurious designer ones to basic failsafe ones. Check them out in the gallery above.

If you want to rock nude the romantic way, this turban-style floral hat will look incredible worn with head-to-toe neutrals. You can find it at Asos.

It’s been no secret for a while now that in fashion, nude tones are hot, hot, hot. Ever since pale peaches, beiges and neutral greys have become en vogue they’ve been absolutely everywhere, from buttery leather totes at Mulberry to refreshingly pretty and feminine blazers at your local Topshop. With the emergence of red-hot colour being the next explosive trend on the catwalk, as seen at Jil Sander and House of Holland, you might be mistaken to think that nude is on it’s way out – but au contraire, it’s not. With the dazzling success of December’s “Black Swan”, starring Natalie Portman, ballet-beautiful fashion is more in than ever.

Wondering how to carry these colours into your spring/summer wardrobe as the year continues? Make like Stella McCartney, who boldly opted for pale pink and peach skinny trouser suits in her S/S 2011 collection, and choose jackets and slim-fitting chinos in nude tones for a look that is feminine, yet manages to be fashion forward. When it comes to eveningwear, anything goes – romance is the word for the whole season and you can opt for as many ruffles, embellishments and pleats as you like.

For our favourite nude pieces on the high street, check the gallery above.

Venice Film Festival: Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, Naomi Campbell

By Andrea Petrou on September 2nd, 2010

The Venice Film Festival has kicked off for another year, and Hollywood’s A-listers are already strutting their glam stuff on and off the red carpet.

Jessica Alba was one of the first celebrities to be spotted at the 67th event turning up to her hotel in a cute white ruffled skirt. She later changed into a stunning strapless mini dress complete with a long train, which she teamed up with cage heels for the Machete premier.

Natalie Portman also wowed when she turned up in a plain, yet glam strapless blue frock for the photocall of Black Swan before taking her look one step further in a gorgeous red dress for the premier, while Isabella Ragonese opted for a long ballgown monochrome strapless frock for the event.

And Naomi Campbell also made an appearance turning up in a black puff style black mini-frock and cage heels for a dinner held by Quentin Tarrantino.
