Top five pink pieces for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

By Andrea Petrou on October 6th, 2011

Unless you’ve been hiding a rock, you’ll know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. According to Breast Cancer Care, every year 50,000 women a year hear they have breast cancer, which we’re sure you’ll agree is devastating.
To raise awareness of the illness and encourage women to check their breasts there’s a huge range of initiatives taking place this month as well as fundraising events such as fun runs to the more serious sporting days.

However, over here at Shiny towers we’ve decided to support the event in the best way we know and that’s of course through fashion.

See the gallery below and rope your friends into having a “pink dress day” – think Mean Girls – for every pink item you wear you can have a pound donated to a Breast Cancer charity of your choice.

Singer Pink tops the polls for favourite celebrity pink look ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

By Elisabeth on September 27th, 2011

A survey by Breast Cancer Campaign has found that pop star Pink is our favourite ‘pink celebrity’, but with a name like that we wouldn’t expect anything less. Famous for her brightly coloured tresses – which are now a plantinum blonde – the American singer got 43% of the votes, while former US leading lady Jackie Kennedy followed closely behind with 34% for her iconic pink suit.

On the lower end of the scale we find the more pink obsessed celebrities Katie Price and Paris Hilton who are both known for their love for the candy coloured hue.

Other iconic characters most associated with the colour pink included Barbie, the Pink Ladies in Grease, Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

But where do you wear such a bright colour? According to the survey you wear it to charity events and hen/stag nights – not so sure about all the men in pink for stag nights but hey.

How many pink items are lurking in your wardrobe? I can count…3… I think….
