Kim Kardashian was “in heaven” at her wedding

By emilyborrett on August 25th, 2011

One of the world’s most famous heiresses, Kim Kardashian, has said that marrying her basketball hubby Kris Humphries last week felt like she was “in heaven”.

The two wed in an extravagant fairytale ceremony in California last week in front  of a star-studded guestlist of A-listers. While Kim has said that she felt like “a princess” in her Vera Wang gown at the lavishly OTT nuptials, her and Kris still insist that the day was about celebrating their love for one another and their family and not just throwing a great party. Awwww.

She told People magazine: “Glam aside, that wasn’t our main goal. It was really about our family and each other.”

Kim had not one, not two but three different Vera Wang gowns for the wedding and the reception and the guests tucked into a monstrously huge 10-tower cake from Hansen’s bakery. Well, if we were wearing Vera Wang and eating as much cake as we physically could, we’d feel like we were in heaven too.

The ceremony has been all everyone’s been talking about for weeks – but if you’re sad that it’s all over, fear not, because the couple are planning to have a second ceremony soon.

Kim Kardashian’s wedding party was cut short because of complaints

By emilyborrett on August 22nd, 2011

Kim Kardashian’s lavish wedding party on Saturday had to be cut short because of complaints from the neighbours.

The party was supposed to go on until 4AM, but a pesky old fire marshal turned up at midnight and ordered the music to be stopped following phone calls of complaints from those who lived nearby.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Around midnight DJ Cassidy, who had been spinning for an hour, was ordered to shut down because the neighbours were complaining about the volume of the music. The neighbours didn’t come over, but they called the police. Kim took the news OK and seemed relaxed about it, but her sister Khloe was pretty upset.”

Besides the inconvenient early closing of the party, the wedding was apparently a great success. Ryan Seacrest tweeted after the celebrations: “Beautiful … Kim looked regal, a perfect night. I just danced w the whole family. (sic)”.

The celebrity guests included Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria and Demi Lovato. Meanwhile, the newly wed Kim was spotted on Sunday morning coming out of her hotel with her new hubby wearing a new Juicy Couture tracksuit with the words “Mrs Humphries” on the front. Well, we suppose it’s one way of letting the world know.

Kim Kardashian is planning a second wedding in New York

By emilyborrett on August 19th, 2011

As if it wasn’t enough to have one insanely lavish wedding, Kim Kardashian is now planning a SECOND ceremony to her future hubby Kris Humphries in NYC, ten days after the first ceremony in California.

The socialite’s CEO of media, Jason Binn, tweeted about the plans for a second bash: “NY Wedding celebration! @KimKardashian, @KrisHumphries - @colincowie & I are so excited to host. (sic)”

The first ceremony, which is going to be televised, is set to be a glamorous affair. Kim is rumoured to be wearing two different $30,000 custom-designed dresses by the celebrity bridalwear designer Vera Wang. We’re so, so jealous over here.

Kim and Kris are going against tradition by asking their guests to wear black and white to the wedding, instead of the traditional grim shades of pastel, while the bridesmaids are wearing green. Why do brides always choose unflattering shades for their bridesmaids?

Kate Moss falls out with her neighbours over re-vamping her house

By emilyborrett on August 15th, 2011

Kate Moss may be the UK’s fashion national treasure and one of this year’s most beautiful brides (sorry, who’s Kate Middleton?) but she sure knows how to get on the nerves of her neighbours.

In the past she’s been reputed to have driven people crazy in her Cotswolds home with banging parties and loud rock and roll playing throughout the night – and now it seems she’s angering people again as she plans to install a heavy CCTV security system around the North London home that she shares with Jamie Hince

We get that a very famous lady needs a teensy bit more security around their big fancy palace than the average nobody, but it seems that Mossy might have to compromise as the locals don’t want to back down over this.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Kate is giving her house a makeover, but locals are unhappy with her plans to install so much CCTV. She was hoping to move in soon, but it looks like she’s going to have a fight with the council planners and neighbours first.”

Camden council have already received complaints about the CCTV plans – looks like it’s going to be HANDBAGS AT DAWN as Kate takes on the council. Fight!

Kate Moss’ wedding to Jamie Hince was inspired by gypsies

By emilyborrett on August 11th, 2011

We all pored over the photos of Kate Moss’ long-awaited marriage to Kills rocker Jamie Hince last month – and now the supermodel has revealed that her inspiration behind the big day was her favourite TV show, “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding”.

The Channel 4 programme, which is all anyone could talk about when it was on telly, apparently mesmerised our Mossy with its lavish nuptials and wedding dresses so big that the brides couldn’t fit through the door.

She told the September edition of Vogue magazine: “I am so romantic about gypsies. You can’t believe the dresses. They’re like blinging butterflies times ten; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius.”

The model’s version was a far more English and pretty affair, however, with a stunning beaded gown designed by John Galliano and bridesmaids wearing floaty white gowns with garlanded hair. We still kind of wish Kate had gone properly all-out on the traveller theme – a fluorescent pink puffbal gown with animated fairylights and butterflies, perhaps?

Who will design Kate’s dress? See the list of hotly-tipped designers here

Following on from yesterday’s drooling over Kate Middleton’s stunning engagement ring, we’ve been thinking about the royal wedding dress – who can forget the dress, designed by the Emanuels,  that Princess Di wore for her wedding? The puffs, the frills? The 1980s were a terrible time to let a pair of fashion designers get carried away with the most important wedding dress design of the decade. But we’ve moved on, fashion is infinitely better today and there’s a whole wealth of designers that may be stepping up to design Kate Middleton’s gown for her wedding next year. But who are they?

There’s a reckoning that couture veteran Bruce Oldfield could be in the running – with a portfolio of stunning gowns and a whole array of celebrity fans such as Jerry Hall and Princess Diana herself, perhaps our future Princess will decide to stick with traditional British grandeur for her walk down the aisle.

We’d all like to see Miss Middleton fly the fashion flag for Britain by tying the knot in a wedding dress by Alexander McQueen, but perhaps the much-loved designer’s bridalwear is a little too “out there” for the occasion – still, we can all dream. Similarly, it’s no secret that Kate loves Issa and the fashion house’s feminine, draped collections, but is it too informal for the big day?

Other designers who could be perfect for the job include much-loved Erdem, Valentino, Jenny Packham, Amanda Wakeley and British favourite Alice Temperley. Have a look at the gallery above for our favourite bridalwear from some of these designers, then vote for your favourite below.
