Rosie Huntington-Whitely says it takes “dedication” to become a good model

By emilyborrett on September 8th, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whitely has spoken out about exactly what it takes to have a successful career in modelling.

Rosie, who’s probably every man in the world’s dream girl at the moment, is fast becoming one of our generation’s most loved models and a successful Hollywood actress with a leading role in the new Transformers movie. So it’s fair to say that Miss Rosie knows a thing or two about a successful modelling career.

Her advice to any aspiring young models? “It takes hard work, determination and the ability to pick yourself up and try again when things go wrong. I advise you to get a reputable team around you, too. And always trust your gut feeling.” In addition to Rosie’s recommendations, we also recommend swishy hair, a bee-sting pout and legs like a baby giraffe’s. That seems to be quite important too.

Rosie’s support “team” is her mum, who she attributes for her success and drive as a young model. She told Britain’s ELLE magazine: “My mother inspires me. She’s been the driving force behind me the whole way and I strive to make her proud. I’m always drawn to women who are strong, independent, individual, who have an air of mystery about them and who aren’t afraid of their sexuality.”

Lara Stone never planned to become a model

By emilyborrett on August 11th, 2011

The supermodel Lara Stone has confessed that modelling was never her ambition when she was growing up.

Lara said that as a child she never thought that modelling could be an “actual job”, planning instead as a little girl to become a stay-at-home mother. We bet if Lara’s younger self could see her now, fronting campaigns for Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Givenchy, she’d be staggered.

She said: “Modelling wasn’t on my radar at all. I remember looking at all those amazing photos of Kate Moss but at first I didn’t realise it was an actual job. I came from a standard family – my mum was a stay-at-home mum and my dad worked. So you think that’s what your life is going to be; meet a nice man, get married and have some babies. I know when I was younger I wanted to do tonnes of different jobs. I used to come up with these crazy jobs to try and provoke my parents but they said you can be anything you want. I was like, ‘I want to be a garbage man’ and they were like, ‘That’s OK, we still love you!’”

We’re so glad Lara realised her ambition – she’s one of our favourite models.

Jennifer Aniston would have been an interior designer if she failed as an actress.

By Andrea Petrou on June 15th, 2011

Jennifer Aniston would have been an interior designer if she failed as an actress.

The 42-year-old beauty shot to fame playing Rachel Green in ‘Friends’ for 10 seasons and since the series ended in 2004 she has become an established Hollywood star, but she had other career plans if her screen ambitions didn’t come to fruition.

Jennifer – whose first film role was in 1993 horror movie ‘Leprechaun’ – said: “If I weren’t an actor; I’d be, maybe, an interior designer. I love seeing a house and thinking about how it should be redone or restored. I spent a lot of time doing my current house, and it’s beautiful. It’s like a beautiful work of art, and I’m very proud of it.”

However, Jennifer wouldn’t have been a waitress like her alter-ego Rachel – because she tried it and she had too many accidents.

Speaking to the new US issue of Marie Claire magazine, the ‘Horrible Bosses’ star said: “I dropped more than one Alpine burger in customers’ laps, and you just do not want all of that Swiss cheese and mushrooms in your pants. I wasn’t a good waitress, but I was told that I was very nice and charming, so people liked me anyway.”

Cheryl Cole determined to carve a career without Simon Cowell

By Andrea Petrou on June 1st, 2011

Cheryl Cole is determined to carve a career without Simon Cowell.

The 27-year-old beauty – who was sensationally sacked as a judge on the US version of ‘X Factor’ last week after just four audition recordings – does now want the music mogul to be the “puppet master” behind her career and is keen to work on her own terms and not become the new Sinitta, Simon’s ex-girlfriend who assists him on the TV talent show.

According to The Sun newspaper, Cheryl’s mother Joan told a friend: “She was terrified Simon had become her puppet master and she was being turned into his new Sinitta – Simon’s little pet.

“She is determined to carve out a career without him. He’ll have to come up with something special for them to even speak again.

“Simon made Cheryl a UK superstar. She became the nation’s sweetheart. But after he dumped her in the US, she decided to make a stand to show she’s not a puppy.”

Meanwhile, British ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh has confirmed Cheryl plans to reunite with her Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts for a tour in 2012.

He told BANG Showbiz: “I’ve been on the phone to Cheryl all day, honestly I can show you texts, she’s fine. She’s getting back with Girls Aloud in 2012 and they’re going to tour.”

By Kimberley Foster on July 6th, 2009

Lots of bloggers are talking about Leighton Meester’s new single, Body Control today. The Gossip Girl starlet has been working on her début album of what she calls “sexual electro-pop,” and now a track believed to be on that album has found its way onto YouTube. It’s a little too early for me to make my mind up about it, but Leighton certainly has the pipes to carve a music career for herself. Don’t believe me? Then check out this audio clip of her singing her own version of Bette Davis Eyes. Gwyneth who?
