Here at ShinyStyle and across the pond at our U.K. sister site Catwalk Queen we are eagerly anticipating the award season. And last night it officially kicked off with the People’s Choice Awards at the Shrine Auditorium. Overall, The Dark Knight was the big winner of the night scooping a total of five awards. But who really gives a rats about the gongs when there is so much to gawk at on the red carpet. Stars in attendance included Carrie Underwood, Paris Hilton, Kate Hudson, and a witchy-looking Teri Hatcher. Lots of screen stars were at the CMT awards this year – big screen icon Nicole Kidman, the American Idol who found fame on the small screen Carrie Underwood, and the teen queen from the small screen Miley Cyrus.

American Idol taped their Idol Gives Back episode on April 6, with stars like Geri Halliwell, Paula Abdul and Carrie Underwood supporting the cause. Well, okay, Paula had to be there! The episode will air April 9.

Golden accessories are all the rage at the holidays. We’ve already talked about Carrie Underwood’s golden hair over on ShinyGloss, and now we’re concentrating on her gorgeous gold bag. It perfectly offsets her lovely red gown. The Nancy Gonzalez exotic skins handbag and accessory line from which Underwood chose her croc clutch is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Not only could you wear it to formal occasions with a long dress like Carrie did here, we could also see this clutch with jeans and heels for a night out.

At the world premiere of Disney’s latest movie, Enchanted, Friday at the El Capitan theatre in Hollywood, Carrie Underwood and Amy Adams both looked very ‘enchanting’ on the red carpet. Carrie looks cute as can be in a light pink Elsie Katz Couture ruffled dress and Amy, very ethereal in a long, flowing white J. Mendel gown. Carrie is the singer of the film’s end-title track, “Ever, Ever After” and the Amy is the star of the movie playing a modern-day princess.

I think Blake Lively should have raided her Gossip Girl alter ego Serena’s closet for the 7th on Sale Gala last night. She looks perfectly pretty in a Michael Kors dress, but doesn’t have the fashion-forward oomph we’re used to from her character. And, is it just us or does this dress remind you of the one Carrie Underwood wore to perform at the CMA’s?

Having earned fame as the winner of American Idol 4, it’s no surprise country crooner Carrie Underwood knows a thing or two about television staging. I love that she chose a totally impractical dress that probably required more placing than my wedding gown and which would not allow her to move if she wished to maintain this pristine image. Because it was totally worth it! This is a lovely shot. Carrie wore a Badgley Mischka couture gown on the red carpet, and it is rumored she wore $6.2 million worth of diamonds with the canary yellow dress during her performance.
