Claudia Schiffer is proud of every piece in her new fashion collection

By emilyborrett on August 16th, 2011

Claudia Schiffer has spoken out about her brand new cashmere collection to say how proud she is of each piece.

The collection, which was a collaborative effort between the supermodel and knitwear brand Iris von Arnim, includes a range of granddad cardigans, knitted dresses and boyfriend jumpers – each of which Claudia designed with her own tastes in mind.

Claudia told Hello! magazine: “When deciding to launch my cashmere collection it was important to create something true to my personal sense of style and aesthetic, where I would want to wear every piece and be proud of what I was offering to other women. The model also revealed that her inspiration behind the cashmere collection was the woodlands that she walked in as a child in Germany. “My inspiration is the forest and its dark side. It’s not about the cute fox, more the fox eating its prey and pebbles lying on the forest floor that could turn out to be spiders.”

This new project means that Claudia won’t be returning to the catwalk anytime soon, as she wants to devote all her time to the new knitwear venture. When asked about the lack of plans to return to modelling, Claudia said: “I’d much rather be working on this new project anyway. I want to meet all the press and buyers personally – it’s that kind of project.”

A catwalk without Claudia is like a day without sunshine! Come back to us soon.

Get Jessica Alba’s jeans (though, sadly, not her body)

By Andrea Thatcher on October 2nd, 2008

Jessica Alba jeans.jpg

Jessica Alba is looking as good as ever post baby, as most celebs do!

She’s seen here in Divine Rights of Denim Envy High Waist jeans, $80. The pants boast tummy tucking and butt-lifting abilities, not that Alba needs them, but we might!

They’re made of cashmere denim, which sounds like something we need.

Divine Rights of Denim can be found at Nordstrom’s, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Buckle, M. Fredric, Ambiance and Von Maur. Happy shopping.

J. Crew spring preview

By Andrea Thatcher on February 13th, 2008

The J. Crew catalog always manages to brainwash me into thinking I’m more outdoorsy than I truly am. When I get their winter catalog, all I can think of is ski vacations and time spent by the fire. And I want to fill my wardrobe with staples for such an existence, even though I usually only get one weekend in the mountains and have no fireplace.

Then, come the spring/summer catalog I see days at the beach stretching before me and cocktail parties on expansive lawns in Hampton-esque glamour. Needless to say, I barely get to the beach anymore, and my cocktail hour is more likely to be in a bar.

But who says you can’t dress aspirationally – keep reading for how to dress for the life you want instead of the one you have.

Top Five Cashmere Obsessions

By Andrea Thatcher on November 7th, 2007

Top%20Five%20cashmere.jpg

Ah, cashmere, how we love you, let us count the five new ways. With everyone from Target to Kohl’s doing a cashmere line, the luxurious knit is no longer the exclusive province of the rich and snooty. Like everything, the democratization of cashmere does raise questions about comparative quality and if some things aren’t meant to be found at Costco, but when sweaters are this soft we don’t care.

What would we do without J.Crew for cashmere sweaters? One of Nina Garcia’s must haves in her “Little Black Book of Style,” the black turtleneck is always a safe bet when you’re making a bit of an investment. This 12-gauge knit sweater is $148.

One winter necessity – the scarf – goes high fashion

By Andrea Thatcher on October 29th, 2007

Scarves.jpg

The Washington Post is of the mind that the scarves on Balenciaga‘s fall runways are going to change the way we look at and wear the accessories this winter. While the look on the left is perhaps an accurate portrayal of what East Coasters end up looking like in the winter, we’re thinking that without the uber-tailored look, 6-foot frame, and designer styling (and with snot frozen to your face) it’s not going to look so fashionable and suggest trying to emulate the look on the right. For the details on the wrappers we’ve chosen, keep reading.

A casual winter look from Bluefly’s Cold Weather Shop

By Andrea Thatcher on October 25th, 2007

Bluefly%20winter.jpg

We decided to raid Bluefly’s Cold Weather Shop for some discount winter fashions to create a casual look for keeping warm. We chose a muted, but still colorful outfit with blues and grays and a pop of red. The coat is Kenneth Cole Reaction, $168, and we like the seaming at the waist of the wool spread collar topper. Underneath that you can wear this $78 Design History sweater. In a silk-cashmere knit, this crossover V-neck drapes elegantly down from a pleated nape. The rosette and leaf appliques on the $37 Portolano gloves provide interest on the muted loden. You can keep this embroidered teal Elizabeth Gillett scarf, $64, on to prevent a chill in that V-neck once indoors. On top? A red cashmere Portolano beret for $27.

Hermes vintage-style scarves: why knot?

By Elaine LaPersonerie on October 3rd, 2007

I love Hermes’ collection of vintage-style scarves. Styles start at about $250 and include cashmere, silk and twill prints. They pair well with some dark denim and a cream-colored light sweater or long-sleeve tee. Also wear them around your head on bad hair days! Scarves are an easy, fun accessory that can help make an important statement. Just knot and go!

Empire-waist casmere turtleneck sweater

By Andrea Thatcher on October 1st, 2007

black%20cashmere.jpg
There’s nothing better (or warmer) than cashmere. This Empire-waist cashmere turtleneck sweater is the perfect winter sweater with a modern twist. Available in black or winter white, the 100% cashmere, $290 ribbed turtleneck can be worn scrunched up or folded down. I love that this turtleneck features an empire waist–it gives it a dressier feel and somewhat downtown vibe.

Cozy, comfy, cashmere oversized sweaters

By Elaine LaPersonerie on September 13th, 2007

cashmere%20sweaters.JPG
What’s better than a fashion trend that breeds comfort? I am loving this oversized sweater thing!
I picked up two in the past week that I know will stick with me all the way ’til spring. First, I grabbed this cashmere kimono-sleeve sweater from Bloomingdales in heather grey. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend at a whopping $299 but I just had to have it. I’ll be loving it up with jeans in the dead of winter on my way to holiday dinner. Next was this cashmere oversized tunic from J. Crew in navy which is merchandised as a dress, but can double as a chic oversized sweater. This only took me for $198 and didn’t generate as much guilt as the Bloomies one. But really, these are two basic must-have pieces that will bring a smile to my face even when it’s ten degrees below zero!
