Aruna Seth wants to see Pippa Middleton wearing more of her shoes

By Andrea Petrou on June 21st, 2011

One of Pippa Middleton’s favourite designers hopes to see the royal family wearing more of her designs.
Duchess Catherine’s sister wore a pair of Aruna Seth silver sandals with her green Alice Temperley gown to her sibling’s wedding reception and Aruna hopes Pippa will influence other members of the royal family to follow in her footsteps.

She told vogue.co.uk: “We’d love to see more of the royal family at all their social events in Aruna Seth shoes.

“The royal family have to wear classic outfits because their photographs are remembered forever, and we design our shoes to be classics with longevity. We loved Princess Beatrice’s Philip Treacy hat at the royal wedding and her dusty pink Valentino couture outfit looked divine. We’d love to see more A-list celebrities wearing Aruna Seth at the Oscars next year and we’ll certainly be sending out extra pairs of our shoes over to LA in preparation for all the awards ceremonies.”

With the royals’ emphasis on classic couture, Aruna is hopeful her company’s latest collection in neutral shades will be exactly what they are looking for.

She added: “This summer we’ve tried to focus on neutral colours, many of the shoes are nude and tan toned with the idea the shoes can be easily matched with many outfits and are a classic design.

“We still have some sparkly shoes in the collection, for example our silver Lynn Swarovski butterfly sandals.”

Princess Catherine’s wedding dress has won approval from the fashion world.

The Duchess of Cambridge wowed the world with her stunning gown – which was created by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen – when she married Prince William last Friday (29.04.11) at London’s Westminster Abbey and also managed to impress some of the industry’s biggest names.

Bruce Oldfield said: “I congratulate Sarah Burton, as she did not have long to produce this dress. I liked the way the veil lay flat across the hair without any gathers – probably a circle weighted down with the delicate embroidery. This will be a trend to watch. Catherine needed the volume of the skirt, both to emphasise her tiny waist and to give the dress a sense of importance. I also liked the nod towards a bustle. It all helped towards an appropriately traditional gown.”

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld said of Catherine’s choice: “She is very elegant and the dress is classic and goes very well in the Westminster decor. It almost reminds me of Queen Elizabeth’s wedding, the royal weddings in the 50s. The proportion of the train is good. The lace is very pretty. I like the veil a lot.”

As well as being impressed by the dress, Hubert de Givenchy was pleased the brunette beauty went for McQueen, as it paid tribute to the label’s founder who committed suicide last February.

He said: “The dress is very simple and very nice. The veil is a little flat, but because she has such a lovely face, she can afford to wear it this way. She is very pretty.

“Having Alexander McQueen was a lovely thought, a nice tribute.”
