Wednesday’s photos of Chanel Iman looking surprisingly stylish dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Vogue Germany inspired us to look for clothes and accessories that channel the cartoon mouse, without veering into fancy dress territory.
Oversized polka dots are a fresh take on the trend this season, and bows, whether undersized worn round your neck, or massive worn atop your head, are a trend that just won’t go away. Red and black can be a great colour combination for a party outfit, especially if you add some cartoon-like accessories. Or you could just wear a top with a picture of Minnie on it, if you can’t be bothered to be subtle about it.

From Catwalk Queen: Haute Couture Week is well underway in Paris, and yesterday it was the always-colourful John Galliano who unveiled his autumn/winter 2009 collection for Christian Dior. Moving his show to upstairs at the Dior flagship store, Galliano kindly reminded his models, including Chanel Iman, that “Mr Dior is watching” as they manoeuvred their way through the salons.
Elegant tailored suits, were mixed with bright Stephen Jones’s hats, tulle ball gowns and loads of sheer bottoms which Carine Roitfeld previously featured in a shoot as part of her New Look revival in June’s French Vogue. Bold shapes were also on the menu in strapless frocks, with the occasional corset and sexy suspender belt thrown in.

The trend to employ famous faces as magazine interns continues with the news that Chanel Iman is now working at Teen Vogue.
Last week the model tweeted about her internship at the mag, saying: “U will never guess what i’ve been doing for the last couple of hours. Havin’ a blast interning at Teen Vogue!! Setup there [sic] closet like its mine”.
Also: “Teen Vogue just got a little taste of Chanel Iman flavor in the House!!! Hey lol Teen Vogue rocks!!!”
Sounds like she is having fun.
Chanel is the latest in a string of celebs to hit the glossy intern trail. Bruce Willis’s daughter, Tallulah Belle, recently worked at Harper’s Bazaar, while Sean Avery interned at Vogue.

Zac Posen’s Fall 2009 fashion show was one of the most-talked about of fashion week. It wasn’t just the beautiful couture-level clothes. And it wasn’t only the amazing model watching, yes, Coco Rocha, Lily Donaldson, Alek Wek and Sasha Pivovarova were all there. (I’ll admit to squeeling several times.) But it was the show itself with 5 baby grand pianos on the runway played by the 5 Browns, a brother/sister piano troupe, and the glitz and glamour Posen – and we – love.

OMG, Serena throws the best parties! Looks like Chanel Iman is confirmed for that episode of Gossip Girl, the one with former Moldy Peaches singer Adam Green, The Misshapes and Patrick McMullen.
This will be a great addition to Chanel’s resume if she’s looking to cohost with Bar Rafaeli for the resurrected House of Style.
This continues Gossip Girl’s streak of starring *celebrities* of the fashion world who no one else has heard of let alone will recognize. But I guess it will help Leigh Lezark improve her brand awareness.

Net a Porter have got some fabulous fashion faces guest editing their gift guides this year, and I love ‘At Home With Dita Von Teese‘, where the burlesque star gives some tips on looking glamorous 24/7, as well as recommending her favourite indulgences (Roland Mouret, Louboutins and MAC makeup). Even without the wads of cash needed to buy the gifts, it’s worth flicking through the guide for some tips. Dita suggests wearing brooches in your hair, Chanel Iman wants world peace, and Giuseppe Zanotti recomments fashion canapes. What’s not to love?

The Fashion Group International hosted its 25th Annual Night of Stars this week at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Donatella Versace was awarded with the Superstar Award, the top honor of the evening. In the fashion category Francisco Costa, Christopher Bailey, Carla and Franca Sozzani, and Christian Louboutin also won awards. Stars and fashion fans in attendance included Kate Bosworth, Ashley Olsen, Leigh Lezark and a few members of the cast of Gossip Girl. And of course Jennifer Lopez and Karl Lagerfeld, pictured below.

The new collection of Gap Design Editions white shirts are now available in store and online, but they’re selling out quickly. If you missed out last time, don’t dawdle. Priced at $78 for a shirt, $88 for a dress, they’ll go extra quick.
Our favorite is the low tie-neck top by Phillip Lim, not pictured. The other designers include Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, Three AsFour and this year jewelry designer Philip Crangi.
Check out our video of the models’ final run at the Max Azria show last night. Look for Lily Donaldson and Chanel Iman amongst the mannequins and watch Lubov and Max Azria take their final bow.
In the show notes Azria referred to his fall 08 woman as “an independent visionary. She cleverly combines textures and volume, adding touches of sensuality through corsetry and silhouette defining belts. Pairing hand molded felt caps with tulle underskirts; she dresses and lives by her own rules.”

As if modelling wasn’t competative enough, New York Magazine has put the tally everyone’s been keeping in their heads on the printed page with their Model Tracker. Catherine McNeil and Chanel Iman, above, both made the list, while Russian beauty Irina Kulikova “won” fashion week by participating in more than 20 shows. Chanel was the only American on the list, opening and closing for Custo Barcelona. She also strutted for Heatherette, L.A.M.B., JustSweet, Vera, and Alexander Wang. Busy girl! But no one was busier than those Brazilians – Raquel Zimmermann and Flavia de Oliveira both made the list.
