We loved these Jonathan Kelsey two-tone pumps so much, we had to build an outfit around them! Since they serve as the trendy item of the ensemble, we kept the rest fairly simple with a purple cashmere wrap sweater from Bluefly and a Chloe button-down skirt from Net-a-Porter. Another fall fave of mine – this Banana Republic satchel - rounds out the look with structure and style. As a bonus, all the pieces would definitely do double duty with other outfits both casual and dressy.

If a $3,000 Chloe coat isn’t in your budget, maybe these $600-$1500 tops/dresses are? Maybe? Even if it’s just fantasy, perusing the new Chloe arrivals at Net-a-Porter proved enjoyable. These selections have the frothy, boho feel but with a more grown-up, fashion-forward sensibility, which is nice foreshadowing for spring. Both the vibrant colors and the soft gray are on trend and will enrich a wardrobe of basics. Click over the jump for details on each item.

I am a huge boot fan, so whenever the weather starts to cool off, I try to pick up a few new pairs. Not only are boots are great way to turn an average outfit into a complete look, they’re also more comfortable than pumps and the knee-high ones are great for covering up your legs, whether you’re too lazy to shave or they’re just your least favorite body part. For knee-high boots, try a pair of gray Melinda boots (left), only $80 at Bakersshoes.com. Gray is super in this season, so match them with a gray chunky knit sweater or scarf. For a more dressed up look, go with this pair of Michela boots (right) from Aldo for $180. The shiny silver zipper reminds me of the exposed zipper dress seen on Chloe’s fall runway

The Budget Fashionista, another great fashion blog, showed a super cute plaid jacket from Chloé (above), priced at a rent breaking $2,270 at Neiman Marcus, and a just-as-cute version from Nordstrom for only $78. Since plaid continues to be in this fall and since I’m a poor New Yorker who can’t afford even $78 for a jacket, I bring you the cheaper cheap version of the Chloé jacket. This plaid jacket from Forever 21’s Heritage 1981 collection is only $22! It’s like a downtown version of Chloé’s uptown look and you can buy it while still affording to keep your electricity on.

“She’s angry, but funny-angry,” said Paulo Melim Andersson of the girl he imagined while designing his first collection for Chloé. “A girl who steals from her mother. I want this to be young-young, with no tricks. Clean, but not minimal.” Melim Andersson, formerly of Marni, brought the label in a daring new direction with his fall line. Gone were the feminine, floating dresses from Phoebe Philo’s time at Chloé. Now girls in combat boots dressed in black with pops of orange and patent leather stomped down the runway. The new Chloé is tougher, darker, more downtown New York. The dress above appeared on several trend-watch lists, making exposed zippers a coveted item for fall. Now the industry waits to see what Melim Andersson does next with the popular label.

When models at Derek Lam, Behnaz Sarafpour, and Chloé strutted down the runway in sleek, simple, well-tailored dresses in gray and black, spruced up with front exposed zippers, a new trend was born. The dresses themselves were incredibly simple, loose-fitting items, but the zippers added major pizzazz. This is a great night look and a really easy one to pull off. Try this gorgeous dress from Dallin Chase at Shopbop.com (US$268). Check out more photos after the jump.

When Scarlett Johansson strode down the Imitation of Christ runway in spring 2006 in a pair of high-waist, skinny dark jeans hugging her curves, it sent a shock through the fashion industry used to season after season of ultra-low, thong-revealing jeans. Then Kate Moss showed up for a TopShop press conference wearing pale, high-waist, wide-leg denim and everyone wanted to know where she bought—turned out they were vintage Chloé. Now retailers are starting to stock similar pairs. No more endlessly pulling up your pants with these jeans. Try these Chloé look-alike jeans from TopShop (“K Jean,” UK£40) or this pair from Silver Jeans (“Eternity,” US$90).

It seems you can officially wear a drop-waist dress when you’re not dressed up as a 20′s flapper, as designers have been updating the style for a few seasons now and have really got the knack of it. We’ve chosen our favorites of the bunch to punch up your late-summer wardrobe and provide layering pieces for fall. Details after the jump.
