What happens if you put one ballerina, a pair of Pearly Kings and Queens dancing, two shirtless male models by a fir tree, five cute puppies and a Father Christmas with dreadlocks in a studio all themed to swinging Christmassy jazz tunes? The result is not your usual Christmas…
This festive season Selfridges has teamed up with photographer and film maker Bruce Weber for their Christmas ad, which certainly is a non-traditional take on Yuletide. Check out the video below to see what we’re on about, but if you’re looking for an unusual gift for a loved one the famous London department store’s Christmas Gift guide is packed full of extraordinary presents ideas for him, her and the kids to place under the tree this year.
Don’t be a bah humbug, plan your Christmas early!

Beyonce Knowles’ house is a “no-TV zone” over the festive period.
The ‘Halo’ hitmaker is currently expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z and the couple are both so busy during the year that they prefer to focus on quality family time over Christmas rather than relaxing in front of the TV.
Beyonce said: “I will be with family. We are both so busy throughout the year that Christmas is just a time to relax with family and count the many blessings in your life.
“Christmas Day is a no-TV zone. We just like to sit and talk together as a family.”
Although she refused to reveal what she will buy her husband, the singer can’t wait to purchase lots of gifts for their unborn baby.
She said: “I can’t say, it has to be a surprise! Seriously, though, we both keep seeing super-cute stuff for the baby, so I am sure even our presents for each other will involve the baby in some way!
“Also Kelly [Rowland] has been so busy buying gifts for the baby, I think she might forget to buy for me this year! She is always seeing cute gifts for the baby in London.”

We desperately want to get a flight to New York this Christmas, because we’ve just heard that Lady Gaga is collaborating with her BFF Nicola Formichetti to design a range of limited edition gifts for Barney’s department store.
The seasonal campaign, titled “Gaga’s Workshop”, will be taking over the fifth floor men’s department in November, turning the area into Gaga’s very own bizarre Christmas wonderland.
The gifts that will be on sale include sweets, toys, candles, cosmetics and jewellery made entirely out of rock candy, as well as Gaga-curated books and CDs. Barney’s chief exec, Mark Lee, spoke out about the new collaboration: “Holiday is about joy, sharing and inclusiveness, and to me, Gaga really represents all of that. Her platform is so much about positivity, individuality and universality in a very today way.”
He continued, “There are a lot of things for fans of all ages, for kids and kids at heart. I think our existing and new customers will find fun things to share and give as gifts in a lighthearted and not so serious way.”
We actually cannot wait to see what Lady Gaga’s take on the holiday season will be. Get us to NYC in time for Christmas!

10. Danni Minogue
It's been a good year for Danni as she's been voted the most fashionable judge for the X Factor, completely trouncing the once-unbeatable Cheryl Cole in the style stakes. We've tuned in every Saturday to check out which gravity-defying updo she's been rocking and which designer gown she's got on - our favourite was the Victoria Beckham dress.
As Christmas literally looms over us (4 days, arrgh) and 2011 doesn’t seem so distant anymore, we at Shiny are continuing to look back over the past year – who’s triumphed, who’s been a flop and who’s 2010′s heroes. Following the top 5 runway collections of 2010 and the year’s top 10 fashion moments, here is our countdown’s of this year’s most fashionable stars. Will they continue to shine next year, or will someone new steal their crown? Leave your comments below and let us know what you think.

Carrying on with the gift galleries that we’re doing in the run-up to Christmas (10 days left!), I really wanted to do one on homewares. Ever since a Christmas shopping trip to Liberty in Carnaby Street on Sunday, I’ve been haunted with images of teapots, rugs, furniture and mirrors that I will never in this lifetime be able to afford. With programmes like Kirstie’s Homemade Home on our screens at the moment, it’s never been cooler to get into interiors and making our homes special.
And so, in honour of interior-lovers everywhere (please get in touch, I’m lonely), here’s a gallery with some of the best Christmas buys for that person in your life that likes making their home beautiful. To see my favourites, check the gallery below.
Whittard Logo Teapot
Whittard of Chelsea is one of the most iconic names associated with British tea-drinking everywhere, and this teapot will be a beautiful piece for anyone's kitchen.

The Christmas party season is definitely a fun one, but definitely a bit of a chore when it comes to reinventing old tried and true party outfits. (I’ve had to be extremely creative over the past few weeks vis-a-vis hair and accessories over the past couple of weeks in an attempt to stop people noticing I’m just wearing the same thing over and over.) What’s more, now is not the time for us normal people to go a bit bonkers and daring with our party outfits.
With Christmas drinks, carbohydrate binges and full days spent on the sofa eating at their annual peak, now is not the time to wear that amazing body-con dress that you’ve been wanting to wear out for ages – unless you’re Gisele or Elle McPherson, you’ll spent the whole evening in the corner self-consciously holding your handbag against your middle, trying to hide your winter tummy and worrying if your nude embellished tights do your legs any favours. I beg of you – this is the season that little black dresses and opaques were made for. Familiar? Yes. Done before? Maybe. Boring? Certainly not.
Don’t bother getting a new dress – spend your money on accessories instead that will give your wardrobe a whole new lease of life and have you party-ready in seconds. In the gallery below are ten of our favourite party shoes, from the cheap to the up-market – we especially love New Look’s scarlet silk heels, which wouldn’t look out of place at a 1930s cocktail party, and the stunning sci-fi-esque gold heels from Carvela. Whether you’re skint or loaded, if you shop at Primark or Jimmy Choo, there’s a shoe on this list to suit you.

"Fashion Now Vol 2" by Terry Jones
This book, compiled by the editor of the legendary fashion magazine i-D, is an essential coffee-table placement for any fashion lover. You can find it online at Amazon.
Carrying on from last week, where we brainstormed up a gallery of the best girly gifts around this Christmas, we decided to give you our second installment – after all, Christmas shopping is a bit of a minefield, especially when you’re buying for a lady with discerning tastes. Today, it’s all about buying for that friend you have with her fingertip on the pulse of fashion. The one that never wears the same outfit twice, devours glossy magazines and refers to designers by their first names, as if they’re old friends.
So here’s an assortment of clothes, makeup and essential reading for the stern fashion-lover in your life. (I basically wrote this list for myself.) Check out the gallery above for our top buys.

We’ve been talking about ballgowns today as a result of our “celebrities love” series so we thought it only right to carry on the theme. And what better way to do this than with a Christmas outfit lowdown.
Ball gowns are not the first thing you think about when you’re picking that party dress, unless of course you’ve been invited to a black-tie event. However, thanks to the maxi dress trend you can get away with wearing a long frock to an event without looking too overdressed.
And there’s some great styles on the highstreet ranging from that traditional black embellished frock to kimono style long dresses which give a nod to the style worn by Christina Hendricks and Kate Moss.
Give a nod to the 50s in one of these or bring the look bang into the 21st century with a strappy number.
We guarantee you won’t need that mistletoe to get that Christmas kiss in these sexy numbers.
