Not only has period drama Downton Abbey taken over our Saturday nights, it’s also filtering into our wardrobes. That’s right we’re all going early 20th Century mad with feathers, fur capes and elbow length gloves all becoming must-haves as we all strive to take some influences from the show.
And lets not forget the period hats, velvet jackets, corsets and Victorian boots that are also flying off the shelves. We know that sometimes it’s hard to find the time to scour those vintage shops to get those gorge originals so we’ve hit the highstreet to help you find those must-have pieces that will have you looking all Crawley like without having to do any of that hard work.

Poor old Jaime Winstone. Famous for her mish-mash of different styles and fun dress sense, she’s had a bit of flak in the gossip rags and tabloids for the monochrome Holly Fulton maxi-dress she wore out recently. (Which, I might add, I really loved.) Where lovers of high fashion saw drama and edginess, the “What were you thinking?” pages saw a woman that they thought looked downright silly. But what is so wrong with looking a bit silly? Is silliness not, after all, what the British fashion industry has been built upon? The fashion world would be a different place if the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Pam Hogg decided to stick with Queen Mother-esque twinsets and kitten heels, no?
And ’tis the season to be silly, after all. Tinsel, glitter, jewels, embellishment and brocade – Jaime just whacks it all on and heads out to the party, and that’s why ShinyStyle likes her. Whether she’s dressed like a futuristic punk, a 1930s débutante or a spaced-out acid hallicunation of colour, she works the look with gusto and confidence. Check the gallery below for three of our favourite of the actress’ latest outfits, and the places you’ll need to go to get her style.

With all the upcoming parties and events that get rammed into your diary during winter, everyone has been very preoccupied what they’re going to be wearing this December. And we’ve found the one woman we should all be trying to emulate at this year’s office party – Victoria’s Secret model Chanel Iman.
Obviously, she’s stunning and all that – her mix of African and Korean roots have blessed her facially – but more importantly, she has got the party look nailed and is a walking advert for the motto that sometimes more is more. Feathers, fur, sequins, metallics and glitter; ’tis the season to pile it all on with a shovel, and have another drink.
We particularly loved the outfit that she wore to a gala in NYC last month, oozing vampy Hollywood glamour in a deep-blue velvet blazer, teamed with a sparkling headband and sequined maxi skirt. This is the way to carry the maxi-length from summer into winter.

Go for extra wow with this gorgeous backless dress from ASOS
If you checked out our gallery of party tops last week and decided to splash out on one, you might now be stuck for something to wear with it. Trousers have been on the rise in the last couple of years, with a load of new styles (harem, peg, boyfriend) being thrust upon us as the latest must-have. We wouldn’t blame you if you’ve stuck with your trusty skinny jeans, but trust us when we say that trying a new trouser style for a night out can really set you apart from the other party-goers.
We’ve picked out a few of our favourites that are available right now. Remember that trousers are one of the best ways to make that transition from the office to a party, just by adding some heels and a clutch bag. But not all of the looser trouser styles need a heel – flats can look just as good.
Don’t forget too that the humble short can also look amazing for a party taking the place of a skirt. Remember to dress them down though – think like Alexa Chung and wear them with flats and a blouse. Heels and shorts aren’t very often a good combination.

We don’t know about you, but when we think about Christmas parties the third thing that comes into our mind after drink and dancing is the pain we’ve got from wearing our high heels.
We know heels are an essential part of the Christmas outfit, and we’ve even done a gallery with the best skyscraper heels out there. Yes we know, were glutton’s for punishment.
Although we included a pair of flat shoes in there for after the copious amounts of champagne, there are some girls, who would rather just be comfortable all night. We’ve therefore put together a gallery of the best flat shoes out there, which will ensure you look stylish as well as keeping you comfortable.
