Designer Christmas make up inspiration: Chanel AW 2011

We’re nearing both Christmas and New Year’s Eve meaning time is running out to get that make up look just right.

If you want something different but still simple then why not take some inspiration from Chanel’s AW 2011 looks.

This season the design house gave a nod to the forties – in the shape of pale lips, buns and intricate lace eye masks – whilst also giving a grungy feel thanks to heavily dark lined eyes and navy to black nails.
Take inspiration from either look or if you’re feeling brave why not combine the two together to give that fairy princess gone bad look.

Make up trends for AW 2011 and those Christmas parties: Bold Lipsticks

It’s the 1st of December, which means we can officially start getting excited about Christmas.

Yes, yes, we know, we’ve been talking about those Christmas parties for a while now, but a gal has to be prepared for some of the hottest parties of the year.

If you’re still unsure of what make up look to go for then why not take inspiration from Kate Moss and Glee’s Jayma Mays and go for the bright and bold lippy trend. Orange, bright pink and rock chick purple are all hot colours this season thanks to designers such as Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood using these at their catwalk shows.

Darker skinned ladies will benefit from bright reds and purples, while those fairer can get away with oranges and pinks.
Keep eyes minimal, foundation light and add some blusher with similar tones to really show off those kissable lips. All you need now is the mistletoe.

One beauty trend has taken on the gothic Halloween look this season and that’s the Beetle Juice look. Hot on the Zac Posen AW2011 this look combines metallic blues and darker hues to create a darker side to your make up style.

Pick one single colour for a plainer look or go all out with marble effects and combine blues for a truly scary look at that Christmas or New years eve party.

Add a foundation but keep cheeks simple before adding a gloss to lips.
