Cindy Crawford is unhappy that today’s models are so much skinnier than her contemporaries.

By Andrea Petrou on April 21st, 2011

Cindy Crawford is unhappy that today’s models are so much skinnier than her contemporaries.

The 45-year-old star – who was one of the original supermodels alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Christy Turlington – thinks being a model was much easier in her day and admitted she is happy she is not trying to compete with today’s stars.

She said: “I just saw the CoverGirl commercial with Taylor Swift and I thought, ‘Wow, it is so hard for models to get a job these days.’

“You have to sing and act, too. There doesn’t seem to be as much work specifically just for models.

“And I also think when I was modelling, size 6 (UK size 10) was a normal size and now it’s like 2 (UK size 6) or 0 (UK size 4).”

While Cindy admitted there are times when she wishes she looked the same as she did at the height of her modelling career, she says having kids Presley, 11, and Kaia, nine, with her husband Rande Gerber is much more important.

She explained to Parade magazine: “I think what really shows on your face – besides good hair colour – is if you’re happy in your life. If you’re doing work that you enjoy and that is rewarding, then as my mom always said, ‘You’d rather have smile lines than frown lines.’

“I don’t look the same as I did 20 years ago, nor should I. Sometimes I get that little pang, like ‘Oh, bummer, I wish I did’. But at the same time, I see my children and I see them growing up and I look at my husband and the marriage that we’ve worked on and have together, and if all that is good and working, it’s a lot easier to be kind to your little fine lines or where gravity’s gotten the better of you.”

Premiere Of Paramount Pictures' "Up In The Air" - Arrivals

Cindy Crawford is one of those women we love to hate. She’s beautiful, has a gorgeous figure and she’s got brains.

Following the launch of her home collection at JCPenney, the US department store chain has now announced that it will be working with the supermodel to create a range of jewellery.

“One Kiss by Cindy Crawford,” is claimed to be inspired by a henna symbol which means “kiss,” and will include silver or gold necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings.

Cindy said: “I am thrilled to expand my partnership with JCPenney and look forward to bringing my expertise to the fine jewelry business.”

We hope the model’s collection will be coming to the UK soon, until then you can buy the collection online.

Cindy Crawford Style for JCPenney Launch Party

Cindy Crawford is known as one of the first top supermodels and although she may not strut her stuff on the catwalk as regularly as she once did, she’s still up their as one of our style icons.

So we were thrilled when we spotted a similar pair of sandals to the ones she wore at a launch party late last year.

The Margherita sandals from Geox have the same similar t-bar design to Cindy’s black leather ones, and we love the zip detail on the heel too.

Head down to Geox now and for £85 you can turn the pavement into your personal catwalk and strut your stuff in a pair.

Cindy Crawford Amy Winehouse.jpg

As you can see Cindy Crawford dressed up as Amy Winehouse for Kate Hudson’s annual Halloween bash.

She dressed up as the troubled rocker in beehive, mock tattoos, and strappy animal print dress. Other celebs to get into the spirit included Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Isla Fisher, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

But the real question is, will you dress up for Halloween? Yay or Nay?

On last weeks Oprah show, Cindy Crawford said that she likes designers before they go mainsteam. But after her segment, it’s certain that Italian bag designer Mauro Zagliani might be getting pretty close to mainstream. It looks like Crawford and J. Lo aren’t the only ones clamoring for this costly tote. Saks, the exclusive retailer has reported that the darker Python style featured on the show is a goner! Completly sold out, Saks is only taking pre-orders on the lighter Metallic color which retails for $2800. So, if you want the bag, high price tag and all, you better get to Saks soon. Otherwise, you’ll be forced to hang on to your $2800. Hmmm…is that such a bad thing?

She is 40 years with 2 kids and has graced the cover of over 500 magazines–supermodel Cindy Crawford is still drop dead gorgeous! Here she is on Tuesday night at Cedar Lake, a hot new NYC nightclub celebrating Hearst Magazine’s 30 Days of Fashion party. Shortly after she attended GQ’s 50th Anniversary event honoring Kanye West. She is radiant in a silver micro-mini dress, dogtag and matching pumps proving again that metallics are still perfect for making an evening statement. And if you want to live like her in addition to dressing like her, check out her current collection of home designs at Raymour & Flanigan.
