ShinyStyle loves: Republic Candy Punk collection for SS11

By Andrea Petrou on March 30th, 2011

Wow, we’re going right back to the 80s today with our ShinyStyle Loves series, thanks to this bright Candy Punk collection by Republic.
The collection, which has been influenced by the likes of Cher Lloyd, Rihanna and Jessie J, includes an eclectic mix of statement tees, hot pants, leggings and sweats. More is more with lashings of sequins, animal prints, slogans and badges.

Pick from sweats adorned with gold pug dogs, vibrant colour pop leopard prints and sparkly trims or wear a slogan top with leather look leggings and ripped denim for that special 80s look.

We want it right now.

Sienna and Savannah always get sample sizes of Twenty8Twelve clothes

By Andrea Petrou on March 25th, 2011

Sienna and Savannah Miller always get a sample of their designs made in both their sizes so they can make changes.

The sisters’ brand Twenty8Twelve is now in its 11th season and Sienna says the only way they know if the clothes are right is to try them on.

She said: “We now get each sample in both our sizes which has made a huge difference to the way we make changes. I’ve had the great fortune to wear a lot of beautiful designer clothes, and you know when something feels right.

“We’ve also moved all our tailoring to London as well which has made a massive difference in terms of quality and fit – and working with a pattern cutter here feels right for the brand too.”

While Savannah feels the pair may have been too edgy with their designs in the past, she now thinks they have finally hit on the perfect style for the label.

She told vogue.co.uk: “I feel like we’ve been finding our niche. Maybe we’ve tried to be a bit too avant garde in the past, but now we do that with print and texture and just focus on making wearable clothes we’d love to wear. We have an amazing team of seven unsung heroes who work with us – they really understand us and where we want the brand to be – and we’re getting there.”

Yay or Nay: Lady Gaga’s white wedding style dress

By Andrea Petrou on October 22nd, 2010

Lady Gaga is no stranger to kooky fashion, in fact we’d even go as far as saying she’s the queen of funky clothes.
Therefore we shouldn’t really be that surprised with the choice of outfits that she wore for her concert in Philadelphia.

However, this white wedding style dress is niggling us.

We’re not sure why, afterall it’s hardly the piece of meat she wore a while back, it’s not PVC and posing a danger to her health and it’s not even THAT outrageous.

It may possibly be the fact that it doesn’t tie in with any of her other fashions, or that we would have expected her to wear something like this for her upcoming rumoured wedding.

However, we’re willing to give her a fair fashion trial so we’re opening up the floor t you.

Take a look at her outfit and then vote below to let us know.

AW 2010 trends: Capes

By Andrea Petrou on September 23rd, 2010

Bring your A/W 2010 wardrobe bang up to date and be a sexy caped crusader this season.
Lady Gaga and Nicole Richie have been spotted in them and they covered the catwalk with Givenchy, Celine and Hussein all displaying these throw on items. Erdem also made a lasting impression opening its catwalk with a stunning embroidery embellished cape.
The key thing about capes is that they not only keep you warm but also give a great silhouette, and they are fantastic for throwing over a tee or party dress for the upcoming festive season.

Here’s our top five capes.

Levi’s launches Curve ID range

By admin on August 10th, 2010

At last, denim manufacturers are finally waking up to the fact that we all come in different sizes. After conducting research that found shape is more important than style or size when choosing well-fitting jeans, Levi’s has decided to launch a range of curve friendly jeans.

Curve ID, which launches later this month, will consist of three customised fits and a range of different styles including Slight, Demi, and Bold as well as with different rises and back pocket placements. There’s also high waisted styles to coincide with the a/w 2010 trends.

Company president Robert Hanson said: “One of the most frustrating things for women is that they are not finding the right jeans for their body.

“This is particularly a women’s issue because of the diversity in body type. Men tend to wear jeans that are a little less shape-enhancing, and most men don’t want to have a discussion with you about shape and they really don’t care.”

We’ve been moaning about this issue for a good few months now and we’re really pleased that someone’s woken up to the fact that we’re not all the same size. Come on retailers, follow Levi’s lead.

We think we’ve got a bit too carried away with the Wonderland theme today, but we can’t quite resist all the cute and quirky creations crawling out of the rabbit hole this week.

However, we’ll stop after this one (for today anyway) or it may just be off with our heads.

So what’s making us mad as a hatter this time? The The Alice In Wonderland UT collection by Uniqlo, which comes to a store near you from March 1st.

The range includes t-shirts, vests, leggings and tunics and with prices starting from £12.99 you won’t want to be missing out on this one. If you hurry you’ll also receive a free hand mirror with each purchase.

Victoria Beckham launches S/S 2010 range

By Andrea Petrou on October 5th, 2009

Victoria B ss2010.jpgUnlike Lindsay Lohan, it seems Victoria Beckham most definitely made her mark at Fashion Week with sharp tailored clothing, that we, or any other fashion critics , can’t fault.

The pop star, Wag and all round fashionista, known better for her jeans range, showed off a range of tailored slinky dresses, which we’re sure you’ll agree are gorgeous.

However, to fit into these you’ll need to be small. We think that our gym membership may need to be renewed.
