Sofia Vergara has become the new face of CoverGirl

By Andrea Petrou on May 12th, 2011

Sofia Vergara has become the new face of CoverGirl.

The ‘Modern Family’ actress follows in the footsteps of Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore and Taylor Swift in representing the cosmetic brand and will appear in campaigns from January 2012.

Speaking of her new role, she told People magazine: “It feels amazing. I’ve always wanted to be a CoverGirl. I always loved seeing the pictures of the campaigns in magazines.

“My mother used to do her make-up every day, and I used to watch her, just fascinated. I’ve always had a very good relationship with makeup; it’s one of my favourite things.”

Sofia – who is to launch her own clothing range later this year – says one of the reasons the role appealed to her was that other Latino girls can look up to her.

She said: “When you grow up, you look up to girls in the magazines, and you never think you’re going to be that pretty, or that well made-up, or that glamorous. I love that I have the Latin flavour; Latin girls can relate to me, see what I’m wearing, see my makeup, my hairstyle.”

Taylor Swift becomes the new face of CoverGirl make-up

CoverGirl is a brand we have recently been associated with America’s Next Top Model after Tyra Banks tells the contenders every single week that one of their prizes will be a contract with the brand.

However, it seems that a CoverGirl model is more than just a NTM, she’s also a celebrity too.

Joining the celebrity CoverGirl brigade, which currently includes Rihanna and Drew Barrymore, is Taylor Swift who has described her new role as “a dream come true.”

Swift has just finished shooting her first ads, which will debut in January, and she will represent a new line of luxury products for the brand.

“I am so excited to become the next CoverGirl,” the singer said. “I have admired many of the CoverGirls since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of CoverGirl.”

Project Runway fashions to be sold on Bluefly

By Andrea Thatcher on November 7th, 2007

The fourth season of Project Runway premieres Nov. 14 and we’re ready! And with Bluefly.com as the exclusive retail sponsor, we can expect some more focus on how to integrate the show’s fashions into our own wardrobes. WWD reports that Bluefly will offer a “Get the Look” segment that helps shoppers find pieces similar to those features on the show. While we’ve seen what CoverGirl has done to America’s Next Top Model over the years, we’ll trust Project Runway to keep the relationship more low key and less in-your-face with its product plugs. In addition to the advertising during the season, Bluefly will give the season four winner the opportunity to sell their clothes on the site.
