By Andrea Thatcher on October 23rd, 2007

Denim brand Seven For All Mankind is pushing beyond the blue jeans market to conquer shoes, purses, and sportswear. Seven, along with other luxury denim brands like Citizens of Humanity and True Religion, heralded in an age where spending $200 on a pair of jeans wasn’t just accepted, it was expected. But being known for only one product isn’t very lucrative, and so when VF Corp, the world’s largest apparel company, acquired the brand in a $775 million acquisition, they decided to expand. Seven purses, shoes, and clothing are currently being sold in high-end department stores and boutiques and kids and men’s non-denim lines are in the works as well. A Seven flagship is set to open in Hollywood in November. More pictures after the jump!

The Buckhead District in Atlanta, Georgia is now blessed with a denim shrine! True Religion opened a 1200 square-foot store Monday, just in time for the bustling holiday shopping season. “This location is a great example of the premium destinations we look for, where we can build our great brand name alongside the best and most exclusive luxury retailers,” said CEO Jeffrey Lubell (above). His plan is to have 15 stores opened by the end of the year. The Atlanta store will carry the entire True Religion collection including denim and all related sportswear.

Out with Skinny Jeans, In with Wide Legs

By Andrea Thatcher on July 24th, 2007

The polar opposite of this past year’s skinny jeans, the retro-chic wide-leg jeans are back with a vengeance. While the super skinnies were a cute, sexy comeback, wide legs are a welcome change—they’re much more forgiving and easier to wear by all body types. Reminiscent of the ’70s flower child days (think Dazed and Confused), these bell bottoms make legs appear slimmer, as if they’re swimming in a sea of blue denim. The look is best worn with high stiletto heels that just peek out from under the hem. But be careful not to wear this style too long—it’ll create a sloppy, ’90s skater look; or too short—can you please tell me where the flood is? Get a pair in a darker color for the office or lighter, faded denim for a night out for $220 by People’s Liberation.
