We desperately want to get a flight to New York this Christmas, because we’ve just heard that Lady Gaga is collaborating with her BFF Nicola Formichetti to design a range of limited edition gifts for Barney’s department store.
The seasonal campaign, titled “Gaga’s Workshop”, will be taking over the fifth floor men’s department in November, turning the area into Gaga’s very own bizarre Christmas wonderland.
The gifts that will be on sale include sweets, toys, candles, cosmetics and jewellery made entirely out of rock candy, as well as Gaga-curated books and CDs. Barney’s chief exec, Mark Lee, spoke out about the new collaboration: “Holiday is about joy, sharing and inclusiveness, and to me, Gaga really represents all of that. Her platform is so much about positivity, individuality and universality in a very today way.”
He continued, “There are a lot of things for fans of all ages, for kids and kids at heart. I think our existing and new customers will find fun things to share and give as gifts in a lighthearted and not so serious way.”
We actually cannot wait to see what Lady Gaga’s take on the holiday season will be. Get us to NYC in time for Christmas!

Flat Yellow Lace Print Washbag
Every mum wants a beautiful washbag for holidays and little trips away - while this Liberty-print washbag is a little more luxurious than your average Boots one, it's still not an extravagant price.
If you’re anything like me then Mother’s Day has a horrible habit of sneaking up of you, leaving you in a cold sweat resorting to Shell Garage flowers at 11 p.m. the night before. This year to avoid cold sweats in the middle of the night and disappointed reproach from your lovely long-suffering mum, why not plan ahead and order her something amazing right now? For a beautifully packaged little gift that will make her gasp and keep her sweet, there’s not many shops to buy from that will win you as many brownie points as Liberty’s of London.
The big daddy of home and interiors design, Liberty’s is the place to find small, beautiful gifts that will make your mum smile and feel special. Whether it’s a small ornately decorated piece of china, a gorgeous notebook or something little for the kitchen, there’s a gift to suit every mother. Your dear old ma brought you into the world – why not treat her to something from London’s finest department store?

Yesterday we bought you the news that Debenhams had launched a range of designer eco friendly bags for life, and now it seems Selfridges is doing the same.
The high end department store has announced a range of bags in aid of UK charity Bottletop, which raises money to help fight poverty in the developing world.
The bags, which are the creation of Cameron Saul (whose father Roger Saul founded Mulberry), are made from recycled bottle tops salvaged from waste. These are then spun into high-fashion handbags by local communities.
‘I wanted Bottletop to be a cool brand. We’d sell sexy, high-quality products with a feel good factor, not things people brought because they felt they had to’, said Saul.
The new limited collection comes in five styles; the ‘Luciana’ clutch, the ‘Claudio’ luggage bag, the ‘Paris’ shoulder bag, the ‘Comprido’ clutch, and the ‘Bellani’ shoulder bag, each with the coveted blue ‘Bottletop’ logo.
You can get your hands on them at Selfridges now.

We all like an early Friday after work drink, and we’re sure many of you are packing up as we type this. But those who are still around will be pleased they put in some extra graft.
Instead of hitting the pub tonight get yourself down to Libertys, which is throwing open the doors to its heritage suite on the third floor and hosting a vintage sale.
Judging by Libertys’ designs of old it’s going to be good.
Proceeds go to charity and prices start at £10 meaning you’ll have lots of money to go spend down the pub after. But hurry because it closes at 7!
The sale is on from 12pm till 7pm so what more reason to leave work early do you need?

It’s a bit of Lauren Conrad overload today, but we thought you’d still like to know those rumours that she would be resting her fashion label really weren’t a sign that she was giving up on design for good.
Why? Because the reality TV star has just announced a new collaboration with Kohl’s department stores.
Just a month after LC revealed she would be taking a hiatus from her upscale line, she has revealed that she will be launching a brand new range, called LC Lauren Conrad, for Kohl’s.
“It is a California chic line,” she said. “It is a little more casual. They are basically trying to take that California style and make it accessible everywhere.”

Seems like another family-owned department store has bit the dust in our uncertain economic climate. Boscov’s, as East Coast chain, has filed for bankruptcy with a plan to close 10 unprofitable stores and find a buyer for the company.
While many may think of Boscov’s as more their mother’s (or grandmother’s) store than a place they themselves shop, it’s still sad to see a business that calls itself America’s largest family owned independent department store in such straights.
The 97-year-old company has 49 stores in six states.

Gwyneth Paltrow is lending her name to support Saks Fifth Avenue’s 2008 Key for a Cure campaign. The actress models a T-shirt designed by Karl Lagerfeld, which features a sketch of the man himself, in advertising for the charity. The T-shirt will retail for $40 (at least $35 going to charity) to support the cancer awareness initiative, which has previously been backed by Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron, and Renee Zellweger. The T-shirts will hit the Saks website in October.

With party season just around the corner, reassembling the holiday wardrobe might be the next project to tackle–only after your wishlistmaking, of course. Just in time for holiday revelry, Sak’s Fifth Avenue is busy discounting some of the season’s latest and greatest dresses, especially the little black numbers that easily become a wardrobe staple regardless of season. If you’re looking for one or two (or three) chic and elegant additions to the party wardrobe, here are a few great finds from Sak’s:
