Florence is well known for her eccentric and dramatic sense of style, which draws a lot of inspiration from vintage
Majorly exciting news! The flame-haired music diva Florence Welch, who is known for her quirky and dramatic sense of style, is planning to design her own affordable clothing line as a collaborative effort with the stylist Aldene Johnson.
The singer has been topping the best-dressed rankings for the past couple of years, so it would be incredibly exciting to see Ms Welch embark upon a fashion project. A source revealed that Florence has been inspired by Kate Moss’ previous collaborations with Topshop taking inspiration from the model’s wardrobe, and is looking to do the same herself.
The source said, “She has thousands of unique pieces, everything from vintage gowns to garments she’s been given by Karl Lagerfeld, and would love to work with Aldene to create a line inspired by her wardrobe, like Kate Moss did.”
God, we’re excited. Get a move on, Flo – we are ABSOLUTELY DYING to see what you come up with.
We thought Lady Gaga‘s penchant for headpieces was part of her funky fashion. However, it seems it goes a little bit further than that.
In a Q&A event with her fans at showstudio.com the lady, who is nearly always seen in headpieces usually from milliner Philip Treacy, said her hat choices protect her from evil.
“The more interesting and outrageous the better,” she said.
“For me, it keeps the devil away.
“I always like when I have a hat that’s big enough to keep people away at pretentious parties, it’s protection.’”
Well we suppose it’s a funky take from a tin foil hat.
With the Sex and The City craze not looking to die down anytime soon we just had to have a themed fashion crush today.
We know we’ve been bringing you get the look galleries of the four characters (keep reading for Miranda and Charlotte) but sometimes there’s just something that stands out.
This time it’s this cute gold four leaf clover pendant, which is very similar to that worn by Carrie in the upcoming film. However at £8 we think it’s definitely a bargain version. Team up with a frock a la Carrie or dress up a low neck top with this little gem.
Buy it now at Asos before your luck, and stocks run out.
Do you want to blend into surroundings in style or be a fashionable wallflower?
If the answer is yes then we’ve got a perfect solution for you.
Ted Baker has teamed up with interior designer, Nina Campbell and come up with an ingenious answer to the fashion/interior mix by recreating her Orchard Blossom print in a limited edition maxi dress, £249 and top £99 as well as a matching clutch bag and scarf.
We’re not sure what to make of this. The idea is very clever but is wearing a wallpaper print really a trend that will pick up? We suppose one good thing about this that you won’t need wallpaper paste, but you might end up blending in with the curtains.
It was only this morning that we reported on his design venture with Lady Gaga’s American Idol performance outfit, and now our fashion radars have picked up on another collaboration.
This time the designer has teamed up with friend and singer Alicia Keys to create a range of outfits for the singer’s The Element of Freedom, European Tour.
According to Vogue the wardrobe includes four signature Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani looks, featuring a military leather jacket with crocodile print detailing, a one-shoulder silk chiffon gown in dark grey with intricate beading, and a show-stopping LBD in viscose lamé with a cascade ruffle.
And like any singers outfit the costumes will also come complete with sparkle courtesy of Swarovski crystals, sequins and beading.
Kristen Stewart has become a style icon in her own right.
Unlike many of her Hollywood counterparts the Twilight star has shunned the girly cutesy look and gone for a funky fashion look which gives an ever so tiny nod to the Gothic trend.
The key part of Kristen’s style is that whatever she wears she looks comfortable in and although she favours casual styles such as jeans, trainers and hoodies, she also looks hot on the red carpet thanks to her choice of little dresses and heels.
We’ve picked our some of Kristen’s best looks and matched up some highstreet versions for you to buy.
Psst…Could Victoria Beckham be designing a range for Beyonce? If the rumour mill is anything to go by then the answer is yes.
According to The Mirror Posh has been enlisted by the superstar to create outfits for her next tour. However, instead of the outrageous designs she usually wears, she’s apparently asked for full length and elegant.
If this is true then Posh should be extremely proud. Beyonce is known for her stunning show outfits and in the past has used high profile designers such as Herve Leger, Versace and Armani. And with this in mind it’s clear Vicks is really making a name for herself in the fashion industry.
Dannii Minogue has become one of our favourite style icons over the past few months.
She’s become the face of M&S starring alongside the likes of Twiggy, showed off her fashion flair on the X-Factor last year and also designed a range of clothing, Project D with her friend and designer Tabitha Somerset-Web.
Therefore we were hardly surprised when she rocked up at the launch of this fashion line at Selfridges looking stunning and showing off her gorgeous baby bump in a sparkling midnight blue asymmetric dress, which of course was from the new collection.
‘This one’s stretched sequin thankfully, so it goes over the bump!’ she said.
‘Being pregnant has completely opened my mind to having to try really different shapes and things I haven’t worn before. You’ve got to dress cleverly around it, but I’ve managed to get into my dresses without any alterations,’ she said.
And she’s continued to show her pregnancy style. The star was also spotted looking laid back and chic wearing a black dress and on-trend straw hat on a trip to Heathrow airport.
Will Dannii’s pregnancy style lead her to design a range of maternity clothing? Watch this space.
With so many fashionable American celebs making the style headlines (think Lady Gaga and Jennifer Aniston) Brit girls often take a back seat.
Although they may spend time in Hollywood, stars such as Emma Watson, Kate Moss and Kate Winslet all fly the flag for UK fashionable females, always looking stunning in red carpet frocks as well as casual attire.
So we felt that it was time to really bring these ladies to the forefront of the fashion world and put together a gallery of who we think are the top ten most stylish British celebrities.
And as always we want to hear from you. View the gallery below and then vote on your favourite UK style queen. The winner will get her own personal write up with a gallery of her top styles.
And as always, if you have anything more you’d like to add leave your comments in the box below.
A few weeks after Lara Stone announced her wedding dress designer would be Riccardo Tisci, supermodel Coco Rocha has said she’ll be enlisting the creative talents of Zac Posen for her frock.
We had thought the model, come designer would be designing her own dress but she confirmed the news on Twitter.
“Mr. Zac Posen is the best! I met with him to discuss wedding dress designs and immediately sketches were flying… So exciting!!,” she wrote on her page.
We can’t wait to see the design Coco chooses, and will her dress be better than Miss Stone’s?
We see a real life fashion bride wars coming up quite soon.
There’s enough fashion content in Beyonce’s and Lady Gaga‘s Telephone video to start an alternative fashion week. We’ve seen PVC, pirate hats, chains and head pieces galore as well as a range of undies and costumes.
However one scene that really sticks out is the one towards the end when Beyonce and Lady G take to the stage, or in this case Diner floor, in American style outfits. And we’ve decided to put the talented singers up against each other to see who carries it off the best.
On Friday we gave you a sneaky look at Lady Gaga’s and Beyonce’s Telephone video, and we’re sure you’ll agree it was a very welcome Friday treat. And now we’ve got a bit more of an update for you and that’s who designed the crazy ladies outfits.
Lady Gaga, who is no stranger to the delights of designer fashion and in the past has been dressed by Armani and the late Alexander McQueen opted for Viktor & Rolf this time.
According to Vogue.com the designers custom made her dark grey leopard jersey jumpsuit complete with bodice and chains.
Viktor & Rolf said: “Lady Gaga asked us to design a prisoner’s outfit.
“This is how we imagined Gaga if she was incarcerated. She inspired us and her bodysuit was included in our brand new “glamour factory” collection. It is styled with a huge pile of exaggerated metal chain necklaces.”
However the two ladies didn’t just stick to one designer for the shoot. As well as Viktor & Rolf, the two ladies wore Jean Charles de Castelbajac designs. Beyoncé choose a blue jacket from the spring/summer 2010 collection and Lady Gaga of course went for a bespoke dress.
We see another fashion face off coming on very soon……..
It’s happened to the best of us. We’ve walked into a store in the middle of the summer to get ourselves kited out with a new bikini for our summer holiday, only to find we’re too late and the shelves are already stacked with cosy looking jackets for the winter.
They may look lovely, but let’s face it, that parka is not going to be any use to us on a beach, unless of course you have very poor circulation.
And guess what, we’re not the only ones that get frustrated about it.
Designer Donna Karan is fighting to get the system changed. “I hate to say it, somebody’s got to take the leap of faith and deal with the June, July market,” she told WWD. “Pre-fall shouldn’t exist, I’m sorry. Wrong. Let’s start there. We’ve got to bring clothes into season.” Donna has said she wants clothes, especially winterwear, to hit shelves when, well, it’s actually cold.
We can see Donna’s point, and completely agree that it’s a bit of a nightmare finding fashions to suit seasons when the shops are one step ahead. We’re sure were not the only ones who struggled to get excited about the pretty floral short sleeved tops when it was snowing back in early Februar, but will doing this change the whole fashion ethos and catwalk shows as we know them?
Let us know what you think by leaving your comments below.
It’s the video we’ve all been waiting to see; Lady Gaga‘s and Beyonce’s collaboration for Telephone. And even if you don’t heart the music it’s worth watching it for the sheer amount of outfits sported by the two singing sensations.
Lady Gaga sets the tone for the trends when she steps out into a prison scene clad in a PVCblack and white striped dress, similar to the one that gave her problems on the plane last week, complete with Lady G statement sharp shoulders. In a tribute to the song she wears a coke can (yes you read right) in her barnet.
And the wacky outfits don’t end there. In a parody to prison attire Miss G dons chains, complete with leather skirt and jacket before taking it all off to show off a studded bra and knicker set. And those worried that the trademark headpieces had been lost, fear not, because the pirate hat and telephone, er, hat? all make up for it.
And it’s not just the Lady that makes a play for the PVC, with Beyonce donning a few of these herself, we particularly love her yellow PVC dress and matching hat, which matches the Kill Bill ethos, and Pussy Wagon the girls drive around it.
We think its the best funky fashion show we’ve seen for a very long time!
