Amy Winehouse teams up with Fred Perry to launch a clothing range

By Andrea Petrou on March 11th, 2010

It’s official. Amy Winehouse is designing a fashion line.

According to WWD, the queen of the beehive, heavy eyeliner and erm, drinking, is teaming up with sports brand Fred Perry to create a capsule collection of 17 items including skirts, capri pants and two piece suits, not forgetting Fred Perry’s statement polo shirts.

Although the sketches suggest Amy has predominantly gone Back to black (and white), we’ve also spotted a few Pringle style golfing design frocks and jumpers in there too in pink.

Richard Martin, Fred Perry’s marketing director, said: “Amy has been wearing Fred Perry for years, so we were aware she was a genuine fan of the brand.

“We had three major design meetings where she was closely involved in product style selection and the application of fabric, color and styling details. Amy gave crucial input on proportion, color and fit. The range clearly has Amy’s handwriting.”

The first part of the collection will hit shops in October this year and we really hope for Amy’s sake it’s a success.

Lindsay Lohan poses as Jesus for Purple Magazine

By Andrea Petrou on March 10th, 2010

Lindsay Lohan for Purple Magazine.jpg

Lindsay Lohan has been surrounded by controversy for a good few years now with the press covering every aspect of her “wild child” lifestyle. She’s been in rehab for drink and drugs, had a much publicised relationship, and fall out, with DJ Samantha Ronson and she’s also been accused of copying designer’s creations, not to mention her disastrous attempt at designing for fashion house Ungaro.

So we’re a little bit torn about this cover for Purple Magazine where Lindsay poses as Jesus. Standing in white with a wreath around her head and in a position reflecting the cross, Lindsay looks ever inch the innocent model.

However, we’re not sure whether the shot, photographed by Terry Richardson, is designed to stir up some controversy or if it’s Lindsay’s way of telling us she’s turning over a new leaf.

Tell us what you think by leaving your comments below.

Oscars 2010: Worst Dressed

By Andrea Petrou on March 8th, 2010

Charlize Worst dressed.jpg

In our last post we gave you the six best dressed, and told you we struggled to sift these out because of the quality of style on the red carpet this year.

However that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any fashion faux pas, and these were made by the gorgeous Charlize Theron.

The actress, who doesn’t always get it right, went horribly wrong with a lilac satin frock.

But it wasn’t the on-trend colour we have an issue with, it’s the Madonna style boob cups, which are the beginning of a monstrous long train.

Charlize, we’re sorry but that kind of fashion went out of Vogue in the 80s.

Sarah Jessica Parker wears Chanel for the Oscars 2010

By Andrea Petrou on March 7th, 2010

Sarah Jessica Parker.jpg

She was the red carpet starlet we were waiting with baited breath for. The one who has made headlines for her perfect fashion choices, and become one of our favourite style icons (although sadly we have to opt for highstreet versions). We’re sure you know exactly who we’re talking about but those who are a bit confused it’s Sarah Jessica Parker.

So did she impress us? Of course she did.

The Sex and the City starlet lit up the red carpet in an on-trend gold floaty (almost 60s) Chanel gown with beading on the shoulders. And she also didn’t disappoint when it came to individuality.

Her frock came complete with what can only be described as a back to front halterneck. Yes that’s right, you read right, the strap went across the front of her neck (think choker style) instead of around the back.

However, Jessica, as much as well loved your dress, we think the make-up was all wrong. Yes it was sixties, yes it tied in with the dress, but we can’t help but think it might have been suited to a night in a Southend nightclub.
