H&M team up with Marni for highstreet collaboration
H&M are teaming up with Marni for a new collection.
The high street retailer are joining forces with the Italian fashion house for their latest designer collaboration, with the label’s Founder and Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni creating affordable men and womenswear for the company’s spring collection.
Speaking about the collection, Consuelo said: “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints. As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colours, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic adding sporty utilitarian elements”.
The collection will go on sale on March 8 in 260 stores worldwide and online and H&M are thrilled with the products.
Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor for H&M said: “We all love the collection here at H&M and we believe that our customers will do the same. Marni has such a modern touch with everything they do, mixing prints and accessories in a playful but chic way. It’s fantastic to see how Consuelo Castiglioni coordinates her designs, matching new combinations of print and colour, with such incredible craftsmanship behind every piece. The collection will arrive in stores at just the perfect time, as a lovely statement for spring.”
The Marni collection is the latest designer collaboration for H&M, having previously teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, and most recently Versace.
Whitney Port is the new face of Very AW11
Having made her fame – and turned herself into a LA style icon and fashion designer for her own brand Whitney Eve – through reality TV show The Hills, Whitney Port has now set her eyes on conquering Britain by becoming the latest celebrity to front a collection for Very.co.uk.
Joining Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby, who both design for the brand, Whitney is the face of the Autumn Winter 2011/12 capsule collection for the Love Label and Love Label Luxe.
The collection is very seventies inspired and is part glam, part hippie. We’re big fans of Very’s Love label as it offers affordable yet beautiful designs. Love Label prices range from £8 to £75 and Love Label Luxe ranges from £38 to £120.
Sinha-Stanic designer collaboration now available at Oli.co.uk
If you fancy a bit of unusual and of-the-moment design in your wardrobe this winter, head over to oli.co.uk. They’re now stocking a Fusion range by Sinha-Stanic, a British design duo whose clothes have been spotted on celebrities like Keira Knightley, Beyonce and Kate Moss.
Prices start at £50, and the range includes biker jackets, draped silk dresses and wet-look jeans. The collection as a whole is luxurious but relaxed, and the designers’ credentials means the clothes will be an investment – but a less obvious and easier to get hold of designer steal than other collaborations like the Jimmy Choo for H&M range. This lace dress would be great for the party season (modelled by Paul Weller’s daughter Leah).
It’s also well worth checking out the PPQ Fusion range while you’re there – this is their fifth and final collection for the website, so snap it up while you can.
Scary spikes on Louise Goldin’s line for Topshop
Topshop are great at collaborating with new young designers, and their upcoming range of shoes by Louise Goldin (for the boutique collection) is another example. They’re quite similar to the ones she showed on the catwalk for Spring/Summer 2009, but those ones were styled with cute ankle socks. Although we’re sure someone adorable could tone these pointy court shoes down with a hyper-girly outfit, we think on most people they’d look downright scary. The combination of studs and aggressive-looking spikes means we’re not sure we’d be brave enough to wear them.
The toe spikes look like they could do quite a bit of damage if you decided to kick someone with them, too. Not that we would ever encourage violence here at ShinyStyle, but maybe they’d be a useful deterrant against muggers.
The shoes will be available spring 2010.
More Democracy in action – McQueen everyone can afford at Target!

Sure everyone gets to vote (today! so go do it!) but not everyone can buy Alexander McQueen – until this spring!
Rumors of an Alexander McQueen for Target collection were true, but the designer will not be creating a collection for the Go International range.
Instead, the limited edition collection will be for a new initiative called Designer Collaborations which launches in March. The project is said to focus on young and emerging designers.
