Carla Bruni praises Emmanuelle Alt’s “feminine” look

By emilyborrett on August 31st, 2011

The French first lady of style, Carla Bruni, has praised her old friend and new editor of French Vogue Emmanuelle Alt for her femininity.

Carla and Emmanuelle have been firm friends since their teens – but while Carla’s look has matured, she insists that her good friend Emmanuelle is still as girlish as ever thanks to her refusal to succumb to plastic surgery and heavy makeup.

Carla said about the Vogue editor: “There is still something of a teenager about her. Emmanuelle has an unaffected way to be feminine. She doesn’t wear make-up and hasn’t had surgery.”

Emmanuelle Alt has taken the helm at French Vogue after Carine Roitfeld’s reign as editor recently ended. As a well-shod expert on the sartorial, Emmanuelle was the perfect candidate to take over at the iconic magazine – and Carla Bruni agrees, saying that the editor knows what French women want from fashion.

She told Vogue magazine: “She reflects how French women are feeling – simplicity is the state we all want to be in. We are tired of useless sophistication.”

Anna Wintour and Vogue documentary rumored to hit Sundance Film Festival

By Kimberley Foster on December 2nd, 2008

FGI Night of Stars - Anna Wintour.jpgThe ole’ internet is buzzing today with reports that a Vogue documentary, filmed last year, is Sundance-bound.

The doco, directed by R.J. Cutler, follows the preparations for the magazine’s spring 2007 issue, and has a decent shot at making it to Sundance Film Festival, according to insiders.

Little else is known about the film, except that it is produced by A&E Indie Films, and has the full cooperation of Anna Wintour and her staff.

Does that mean Wintour on the big screen?

A spokesperson for Cutler could not confirm the news, but even so… how freakin’ exciting. We’re with NY Mag on this one – we want our Twilight-inspired fan T-shirts, stat!
