Eva Mendes becomes face of Angel

By shinychris on June 24th, 2011

Eva Mendes - new face of Angel

The 37-year-old Hitch star is delighted to be fronting the new advertising campaigns for the 19-year-old perfume – which will be joined by an eau de toilette version in August – because she has always associated it with femininity.

She explained: “I grew up with Angel. I remember thinking, as a child, ‘That’s what a woman smells like.’ I’m the baby in my family by 10 years, and my sisters wore it. It comes full circle now that I’m the face of Angel.”

Eva was chosen to front the campaign because of her versatility. Joel Palix, president of Clarins Fragrance Group and director general of the Mugler company, explained: “Eva can be demure one minute and sensual the next.”

She also admitted she would consider releasing her own fragrance – but only if there was a good reason to do so.

She told WWD: “I’m Cuban, and it is a rite of passage to be doused in Les Violetas, a baby perfume, whether you like it or not.

“I tend to not jump into things right away, unless I have an emotional connection to it. People can really sense whether or not something is authentic. When you’re just slapping your name on something, it shows.”

Eva Mendes says posing in her underwear gives her the motivation to stay slim

By Andrea Petrou on May 10th, 2011

Eva Mendes says posing in her underwear gives her the motivation to stay slim.

The stunning actress often has to strip off for sexy photo shoots so knows her body must be in tip-top shape, meaning she does her best to stay away from junk food.

She said: “My job requires me to do a lot of underwear and bikini shoots. That’s what encourages me to put the chocolate-chip cookies down.”

Although she is very conscious of eating healthily and doing lots of exercise now, the 37-year-old beauty says it hasn’t always been that way.

She told Britain’s InStyle magazine: “I never cared about exercise or what I was eating until I got into my 20s and then I started to really get into it. I just wasn’t feeling good, so I started eating well, working out and going from drinking no water – ever – to up to three litres a day. All the stuff that I didn’t do as a kid. Ever since, I’ve really believed in the beauty philosophy of starting from within and it kinda changed my life.”

Eva Mendes replaces Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Eva Mendes has replaced Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

While the company is known for replacing its spokesperson every few years, a statement revealed the 36-year-old actress was chosen because they hope to play up the fragrance’s “sultry” qualities.

A statement said: “While Naomi Watts’ ethereal beauty embodied the angelic aspect of the fragrance, Thierry Mugler chose to reignite the enticing and explosive dimensions of the fragrance with the sultry Mendes, though her obviously flawless physical beauty is in perfect harmony with the artist’s aesthetic canon, Ms. Mendes mesmerised Mugler with her independence, determination and humour.”

Eva – who was previously the face of Calvin Klein’s Secret Obsession perfume – will begin appearing in advertisements for Thierry Mugler from September.

Earlier this month Eva followed in the footsteps of supermodel Helena Christensen and British beauty Kelly Brook to be named as the new ambassador of Reebok EasyTone.

The brunette beauty revealed she was thrilled to take on the role because fitness is so important to her.

She explained: “I feel better when I’m in good shape. Between long days on the set and travel, it’s not always possible to get a full workout in, so I have to make the time I have count. As an actress, being fit is so important.”

Uli Becker, president of Reebok International, added the ‘Other Guys’ actress was chosen because she is “committed to fitness”.

Psst: Is Lara Stone the new face of Calvin Klein?

By Andrea Petrou on March 26th, 2010

Lara and David.jpg

The rumour mill is in full swing this morning. First we heard whispers of a Lady Gaga sunglasses range and now the grapevine is buzzing with news that Lara Stone is the new face of Calvin Klein.

According to rumours the model du jour and bride-to-be is being signed up to be the face of the designer’s main collection as well as the Calvin Klein Jeans line and the cosmetics part of the brand too.

She would be stealing the Calvin Klein campaign crown from Jac Jablonski, who has fronted the collection for a couple of seasons and Eva Mendes who was the saucy face of the jeans brand this season. We’ll say it for the second time today: Watch this space.

Fall 2008 Couture: C’lebs and fashion elite at Christian Dior

By Andrea Thatcher on July 1st, 2008

Anna Wintour and Claudia Schiffer were on hand for the Christian Dior fall 2008 couture show at the start of Couture Fashion Week in Paris. Wintour wore a green and white print dress she recently also wore to a few menswear shows in Milan in June. Perhaps this repeat dressing is a reflection of the poor economic climate? Or perhaps it’s just a bad time to be flaunting ridiculous wealth from a PR standpoint. Schiffer wore a simple but elegant gray wrap around dress.

Even at the celebratory Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards last night, the memory of legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent was not far from the industry’s mind.

Inspired by Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking Suit and one of the night’s winners, Ashley Olsen donned a Calvin Klein resort 09 tuxedo. Naomi Campbell topped that by wearing vintage YSL, and CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg also wore the symbolic style including a vintage YSL jacket.

Fergie the new face of Calvin Klein

By Andrea Thatcher on February 21st, 2008

Hot on the heels of Fergie’s gig as the newest face of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign, come whispers that she has signed on to be a Calvin Klein spokesmodel.

Personally, I can kind of see the MAC association better than the Calvin Klein one. While the singer looked great at the Grammys in one of his designs, the classic minimalist look isn’t usually her signature style statement.

I guess Calvin disagrees because sources at the company have described Fergie as “a perfect fit”, according to OK!. The source said that Fergie is “beautiful and fun and brings a lot to the brand.”

If the rumours are true, the Black Eyed Pea will join Eva Mendes, who has already been signed up for CK’s new fragrance campaign.

It’s great that Calvin Klein is using more ethnic, curvy models as opposed to the pale waifs of yore, but it might take a little while for the fashion community to adjust to the switch.
