Bargain Pick of the Week: Kimchi Blue No Direction Home Dress

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 26th, 2008

Kimchi Blue No Direction Home Dress.jpg

One of the wonders of the seasonless dressing we’re all so fond of is picking from the end of season sales for the very next season.

Pair this Kimchi Blue No Direction Home Dress, $39.99 down from $68, with tights and a cardi and you know you’ll wear it through the fall.

Plus, we think this dress looks like it cost more than $68 anyway. It’s cotton, trimmed with raw-edge ruffles and a button placket at the chest. The drawstring belt at the waist gives it a cute silhouette.

Plastic Island V-neck bow dress

By Andrea Thatcher on October 4th, 2007

Lately I’ve been dying to buy more dresses for fall. This Plastic Island V-neck bow dress truly captivated me with its plunging neckline and jewel-toned navy blue hue. For work, I’d pair this $140 dress with black tights and a pair of patent leather Mary Janes, but this dress can also be spiced up for a night on the town. Paired with the right heels and accessories, this dress can go from office chic to glam. It’s also just the right amount of sexy without being too revealing. I also love the idea of pairing navy with black; it’s my favorite new trend and I can totally see pairing this find with tons of jet-black jewelry.

Keyhole fun with a Cesare Fabbri circle-front dress

By Andrea Thatcher on September 10th, 2007

Even though runway trends are calling for more structure than free-form silhouettes this season, a flowing dress might still let you get away with a symmetry-free ensemble. This Circle-Front dress by Cesare Fabbri features cutout circles and a ruched top, sitting pretty above a full skirt. With its rich purple fabric and plenty of detailing around the circular collar, it’s a unique ‘look-at-me’ addition to your fall wardrobe—and no necklace necessary!

Slimming down with the Teri Jon belted taffeta shirtdress

By Andrea Thatcher on September 7th, 2007

Since vertical lines and form-fitting silhouettes are a top trend this season, nothing aids a post-summer slimdown better than a belted black dress. This Teri Jon belted taffeta shirtdress offers a sleek and chic touch for those curves, pulling you together with a V-neck bodice and striking winged collar, set atop a full flowing skirt. The belt itself is studded with glittery rhinestones for an added touch of glamour. Three-quarter slit-sleeves make this a great pick for fall/winter occasions, and with your hair styled up or down, it’s sure to make you the belle of the ball.

Summer to fall with Norma Kamali

By Andrea Thatcher on August 31st, 2007

I adore everything designed by Norma Kamali, but this time she’s truly exceeded all my expectations. This Capped Sleeve Wrap Dress is the perfect summer to fall transition piece. On a day like today, about 80 degrees, I’d pair it with a pair of black gladiator sandals and big sunglasses. On the first cold day of fall, this dress will look like perfection with leggings and a long sweater over it.

Taffeta Trench—THE Fall Dress

By Andrea Thatcher on July 24th, 2007

This truly is the year of the dress! And oh-how-excited I am that the trend is continuing into fall. One of my favorites is this taffeta trench dress from OC by Oleg. Accented with puff sleeves, exaggerated split-lapel collar, and belt, this irridescent beauty is just asking to be the center of a picturesque scene in the park with a gentle breeze ruffling your hair and brightly speckled leaves swirling around you. Ok, so maybe I’m fantasizing about cooler days while cooped up in my new, un-airconditioned NYC apartment… But the dress is great for both work and dinner & drinks. Wear it with killer brown or even black power pumps to complete the look. The color is so rich and shimmering, that it’s perfectly fine to pair brown with black shoes (just this once). If you, too, crave this fab trench dress, it’s available for only $128.
