Selena Gomez determined to be “as involved as possible” with her fashion line Dream Out Loud

By Andrea Petrou on November 7th, 2011

Selena Gomez was determined to be “as involved as possible” with her fashion line.

The actress and singer is proud of her Dream Out Loud collection because she has overseen every step.

She said: “We’re releasing the fall line right now and then we’re going to start working on the spring summer line after that. Everything that is on the rack are items that I have picked out and that I have helped design, it all goes through me, I wanted to be as involved as possible, the same as with my new fragrance.”

Selena is also excited about her debut fragrance, which will be released next year, and says she decided to name it after herself to make things simpler but hopes this will be the first in a long line of perfumes in her collection.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “Yes I’m so excited about my new fragrance which will be coming out next year. I think we’re just going to name it after me for the first one because I think it would be simple to just do that for right now but I’m hoping this is the first in a line of perfumes, we’ll see.

“It’s going to be something different too because my fans are going to help me choose it so it’ll be very fan involved. I’ve had some great suggestions from my fans already, they’ve been choosing some really good fragrances so it’s very exciting.

“I’ve been going through all of the suggestions that are already online and we’ve already picked out the bottle right now. Really it’s just all about focusing in on one scent. After we pick a few winners from the contest I’m going to have ten of my fans fly up to New York and we’re going to smell them together and decide on a scent.”

Georgia May Jagger wants to create her own fashion label

By Andrea Petrou on October 18th, 2011

Georgia May Jagger wants her own fashion label.

The 19-year-old model – daughter of Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall – launched her successful Hudson jeans collection earlier this year and is now keen to branch out.

She told vogue.co.uk: “I’d love to do a fashion label in the future. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about maybe making a line of little dresses, so maybe one day. I’m really happy designing jeans at the moment though.”

However, before she becomes a fully fledged fashion designer, Georgia is happy studying photography at university in London.

She said: “I’ve just started the course, it’s going well so far. I’m still not sure what area of photography I’d like to get into – hopefully the course will help there. I really like doing portraits but I like taking pictures of things that are natural, like scenery too.”

When she was designing her jeans for Hudson, Georgia insisted she was heavily involved in creating the collection.

Georgia said: “My collection has a whole new cut. We are using new kinds of stretch denim fabrics exclusively developed for us which make them very comfortable.

“All the designs have skinny leg openings and are a mid-rise which is great for us shorter girls and also very flattering.”

Tom Ford slams Princess Beatrice’s outfit for the royal wedding

By emilyborrett on September 5th, 2011

The fashion designer Tom Ford has criticised Princess Beatrice’s now infamous hat that she wore to the Royal Wedding.

It’s always scary to have your wardrobe criticised, but having Tom Ford pass comment is scary – this is, after all, the man who’s fashion know-how intimidates even Victoria Beckham.

We all remember Princess Bea’s outfit for the royal wedding as it was hard to miss – the red-headed royal was largely slated for turning up to the nuptials in an eye-grabbing couture Phillip Treacy hat. Tom Ford commented on Bea’s headwear choice: “I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this, but at the royal wedding, one of the princesses wore a now-very-famous (or infamous), Philip Treacy hat – that hat wore her. Now, Isabella Blow, a woman those of us in fashion knew well – had she worn the same hat, it would have looked great. She would have worn the hat. She knew what she was about, what she wanted to express in fashion.”

Take note, Princesses – you have been warned by the main man in fashion himself. Leave the scary couture to the Isabella Blows of the fashion world!

Nicola Roberts would love to design her own range of shoes.

By Andrea Petrou on June 27th, 2011

Nicola Roberts would love to design her own range of shoes.

The Girls Aloud singer – who is renowned for her fashion choices – has recently created a pair of shoes to accompany her debut solo album ‘Cinderella Eyes’ and admitted working on her own shoe collection would be a dream come true.

She said: “I love fashion and I love the way that clothes can make you feel. I also kind of respect it so much that I would never just take my position for granted in the fact that would just throw a clothing line out. I would love to do a shoe collection. I have just designed a shoe for the album campaign because the record is called Cinderella’s eyes it’s my take on the modern day glass slipper, so to have fun with something like a shoe collection would be amazing.”

Nicola has previously developed her own make-up range Dainty Doll and is thrilled high street pharmacy Boots will now be selling the brand online and in stores.

Talking to Alex Baker on Gaydar Radio, she said: “The whole team is so proud that we have managed to get Boots on board. They’re backing the brand which is just incredible. It is a dream come true in terms of developing the makeup range. It is a store that I grew up going into and real women and real girls go into everyday and to be able have my line in there is just really amazing.”

Emanuel Ungaro brands Lindsay Lohan’s designs for the fashion house as “a disaster”

By Andrea Petrou on November 11th, 2009

Lins.jpgIt seems Emanuel Ungaro is moving to disassociate himself with Lindsay Lohan’s terrible attempt at designing for the brand.

He described the collection, shown at last month’s Paris fashion week a “disaster”

“I am furious but I can’t do anything about it,” he told reporters at a film festival in Lisbon.
Ungaro, who has not had any dealings with the fashion brand since he left in 2005, also warned the fashion house “is in the process of losing its soul.”

Despite Lindsay’s damage we really hope the brand doesn’t go down the same sad road as Luella. Losing one huge designer is bad enough.

Lauren Conrad isn’t done yet with a new line for Kohl’s

By Kimberley Foster on April 22nd, 2009

laurenconrad_newkohlsline.jpgIt’s a bit of Lauren Conrad overload today, but we thought you’d still like to know those rumours that she would be resting her fashion label really weren’t a sign that she was giving up on design for good.

Why? Because the reality TV star has just announced a new collaboration with Kohl’s department stores.

Just a month after LC revealed she would be taking a hiatus from her upscale line, she has revealed that she will be launching a brand new range, called LC Lauren Conrad, for Kohl’s.

“It is a California chic line,” she said. “It is a little more casual. They are basically trying to take that California style and make it accessible everywhere.”
