Twilight starlet Kristen Stewart is a “jeans and T-shirt kind of girl.”

By Andrea Petrou on November 8th, 2011

Kristen Stewart is a “jeans and T-shirt kind of girl.”

The ‘Twilight’ beauty loves wearing designer dresses for film premieres and glamorous showbiz parties, but admits she’s happiest in comfortable, everyday clothes the rest of the time.

She told SkyView magazine: “I like fashion because it’s part of my work. I dive into the new trends when I have to, but I’m more of jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.”

Kristen, 21, also loves second hand clothes and admits she scours vintage stores in the Los Angeles for unusual T-shirts whenever she gets the chance.

She added: “In Los Angeles I like to go to vintage stores, I look for funny T-shirts. I’m very casual when I’m not working, but I think everybody should have their own style, even if they’re going to the gym.”

Kristen’s relaxed fashion sense is something she shares with her boyfriend, ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson, who is also a fan of pre-worn bargains.

He said: “I like kind of s***ty clothes most of the time. I like second hand. That’s another thing. I can’t really go into second hand stores to get new clothes any more so I end up wearing the same thing every day.

“I wish I could shop in vintage stores the whole time. But because a lot of paparazzi follow me around, it can be difficult.”

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sell $39,000 alligator backpack from their collection and claim they want to dress Michelle Obama

By Andrea Petrou on October 4th, 2011

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s $39,000 alligator backpack was the first item to sell from their new handbag range.

The fashion design duo – who celebrated the luxury collection, which launched under their fashion label The Row, with a cocktail party at Paris store Montaigne Market – were thrilled with the sale of the controversial bag, with Ashley noting that luxury items perform well during uncertain economic times.

She told WWD: “It was the first thing that sold off the shelf. During our last economic crisis in the U.S., the only thing that went up was Hermes.”

Shoe designer Christian Louboutin spoke of his admiration for Mary-Kate and Ashley’s collection and revealed he feels protective of the twins.

He said: “I feel very much like a godfather to them. I adore them both. They are very cute and very clever.”

Averyl Oates, buying director for Harvey Nichols, who stock The Row, recently claimed the success of the label is due to its “timeless generational appeal”.

She explained: “The label carries timeless generational appeal while still remaining directional.

“Mary-Kate and Ashley recently achieved their ambition of dressing Michelle Obama. Lauren Hutton has also worked with the brand and I think the ageless appeal lies with the fact that the collection has a crystal-clear DNA.”

Eva Green wishes John Galliano could turn back time

By Andrea Petrou on June 8th, 2011

Eva Green wishes John Galliano could turn back time.

The actress is friends with the designer – who will stand trial in Paris on June 22 on charges of verbally abusing three people with anti-Semitic and racist slurs on two separate occasions earlier this year – and while she is not defending his actions, she says his behaviour was very out of character.

She told The Observer: “I haven’t spoken to him. It’s difficult to talk about this subject, because I don’t really know what happened. He is extremely fragile, a very sensitive, creative person with a great sense of humour and he’s always been so kind to me. He’s very shy. I adore him. It’s been very brutal and I really…I just wish he could go back in time and for it not to happen.

“I’m sure he’s going to get back [in to fashion] because he’s so talented. Sometimes, you can make mistakes. I don’t think he’s anti-Semitic. I’m Jewish. I don’t think he has anything against the Jews. I think it’s more that he was probably a bit drunk.”

Eva also believes the couple who filmed the designer’s outbursts should take some responsibility.

She said: “Something must have happened to trigger the outburst. I’m very sad. He has to get better. He’s very vulnerable.”

Following the incident, John reportedly checked into The Meadows rehab clinic in Arizona after being urged to get help for his alcohol problems by Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Marc Jacobs to become the subject of a new exhibition

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2011

Marc Jacobs is to become the subject of a new exhibition.

The designer’s work for Louis Vuitton – where he has been creative director since 1997 – will be honoured at Paris’ Les Arts Decoratifs in a display, which will also pay tribute to the French fashion house’s eponymous designer, who started out his career as a trunkmaker in 1854.

The museum’s curator plans to showcase two different periods in the label’s history – the industrial revolution of the 19th Century and the globalisation of contemporary fashion and it is thought to take place next year.

Jacobs is very proud of his work and recently revealed he will only put his name on things he believes in.

He said: “If we didn’t believe in what we did, then I would feel that we sold out. As long as we do things with integrity and believe in them and are passionate, I don’t think we’ve sold out. Whether it’s an $11 flip-flop or a $2 key ring or a $2,000 dress, they’re all done with integrity. They’re all done with a design sense. As long as the creativity exists, then I don’t think it’s a sell-out. A sell-out is putting your name on any piece of c**p and then expecting people to buy it because it’s got your name on it. That’s what a sell-out is to me.”

Gisele Bundchen has launched her own lingerie range

By Andrea Petrou on May 16th, 2011

Gisele Bundchen has launched her own lingerie range with a stunning show in her native Brazil.

The supermodel paraded down the runway in items from the Hope Lingerie Gisele Bundchen Intimates collection – starting with a blush pink satin and lace set, followed by a skimpy black set with sheer panelling and another black sequinned number – and said it was a dream come true to have her own underwear range.

In a statement before the show, Gisele said: “Life is made of dreams and I’m very happy to announce that now you will know the Brazilian intimate. My dream come true is for Hope. With you, Gisele Bundchen Brazilian Intimate. Enjoy the show.”

Earlier this month, Gisele was named the world’s top earning model for the seventh year.

The Brazilian beauty has topped the list, compiled by Forbes.com, since 2004, but this year saw her income increase by a huge $20 million to earn $45million over the past 12 months.

Proof of Gisele’s star status enhancing brands is easy to find, as after becoming the face of hair care brand Pantene in March 2010, the company’s sales went up by 40 per cent in Latin America.

Blake Lively not designing her own fashion range

By Andrea Petrou on March 23rd, 2011

Blake Lively won’t design her own fashion range because she could never compete with Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star was named the official ambassador for the French fashion house’s new Mademoiselle handbag line earlier this year and while Blake loves fashion, she revealed she knows her own design limitations and plans to stay in front of the camera.

Asked if she would consider designing a fashion range, Blake told WWD: “I’ve been asked about that but I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that, if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?”

Blake has previously revealed she was “intimidated” when she first met Karl and struggled when she was

talking with the German-born designer because of his “genius”.

She said: “I was wildly intimated. He’s an incredibly intimidating person because he’s so accomplished and he’s such a genius, but the moment you meet him, he doesn’t try to intimidate you. He’s so kind and humble and alive and passionate. I love and respect him so much.

“I wouldn’t want to work with anyone else. The moment I met him I said, ‘I don’t want to do a campaign unless it’s Chanel’. So it’s nice that we get to work together.”

Could there be a job for Tony Blair at Louis Vuitton?

By Andrea Petrou on January 12th, 2010

Tony.jpgMichelle Obama and Samantha Cameron are two political names we could associate with fashion, however Tony Blair is not.

So we were more than shocked to find out that the former Prime Minister is joining Louis Vuitton as an advisor at the luxury brand.

A source told the Daily Telegraph: “There is an agreement in principle but nothing has been signed yet.

“Mr Blair won’t be joining the board but he will be acting in an advisory role, working very closely with Mr Arnault. In particular, his job is likely to involve attracting new clients.”

We’ll have to watch carefully to find out how this one pans out, but we’re just glad Mr Blair wasn’t recruited for an ad campaign.

Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige defends Lindsay Lohan

By Andrea Petrou on November 26th, 2009

Ungaro and Lindsay.jpgLindsay Lohan and Ungaro has been a long saga that we hoped would have tailed off by now.

However, just as we thought the actress, turned (bad) designer had hung up her sketchbook and pencils the tale has taken another turn.

As rumours ran riot that Lohan could be on her way out of the fashion house following her disasterous S/S2010 debut, Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige jumped to her defence telling WWD: “As we speak, she is in New York in shoots with Ungaro.”

He also denied reports claiming Ungaro chairman Asim Abdullah wanted the actress out.

And it seems Lindsay’s designs have been turning people on rather than off with the fashion house claiming Lohan has had a positive effective on the label’s sales since her arrival, even though her collection is yet to hit the shelves.

“There are some girls out there that whenever they move, whatever they wear, they attract attention, even if they make mistakes. It’s all publicity,” he added.

We’re sure they’ll be plenty more tales in this epic yet.

The Italian fashion house has announced that it will launch a more affordable line of accessories, meaning us highstreet girls can get our hands on the brand.

The Love Moschino range, which includes tote bags, shoulder bags, purses and clutch bags in a range of fabrics will retail between £100 – £270 (not bag for a designer bag). We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
