London Fashion Week may officially be kicking off today but that didn’t stop some showing off their collections early.
Last night Fearne Cotton previewed her new spring/summer 2011 collection for Very.co.uk, and we have to admit we were rather impressed with the new range.
The collection, as predicted, channelled Fearne’s own style with vintage, 60s silhouettes and 70s forming the staple part of the range.
Floaty chiffon dresses, peter pan collars in soft pastels marched down the catwalk, and the serenity was occasionally interrupted with bold blues and oranges.
Other pieces in the range included a stunning Aubergine dress, which Fearne modelled herself, a grey and black bow number, and lace trimmed denim. And if you thought that shoe and socks trend had disappeared then think again, because Fearne made sure this was a key look in her SS2011 collection.
It’s been a busy couple of days for celebrities who have been hitting the capital for partying and work.
Katy Perry made an appearance outside her London hotel channelling the geek chic trend in a polka dot dress and thick rimmed glasses, while Fearne Cotton went for the vintage trend in a purple 50s style frock and ankle boots for her day at work.
Alexa Chung also hit the town in a little black leather frock and gave a nod to the animal print look with a cute leopard print bag, while Amelle Berrabah went for a super smart look in a strapless body con dress. And the smart look also carried on with Elizabeth Hurley opting for an electric blue dress for the Patrick Cox party and Sophie Anderton, a black dress for a night out with her hubby.
More casually dressed celebs this week included Frankie Sanford and Rochelle Wiseman who went for jeans on their days out, and Pixie Geldof who opted for a retro Eminem tee for her night out in Bungalow 8.
Yesterday was a day of vintage fashions as celebrities hit London town for a range of events.
Lily Allen started the trend with a cute 50s tea skirt and blouse on her way to the Matches store launch party, while Coco Summer turned up at the same event in this look with a floral blazer and red playsuit. However she was sporting a rather un-fetching black eye.
And it was also a day for fashion launches with Liam Gallagher turning up with his partner Nicole Appleton, who looked gorgeous in a red coat, for the launch of his Pretty Green pop-up shop in Carnaby street.
Across London Fearne Cotton continued the vintage look with a cute 80s style dress, which she bought bang into 2010 trend with her moccasins and of course, those socks and Ali Bastian also gave a nod to vintage with a 50s style floral frock for her appearance at GMTV.
However, not everyone followed the vintage look. The Saturdays singers instead went for a punk look, with Una Healey opting for a cropped tee, teeny skirt and zebra sandals for a night out at Mahiki. She was joined by fellow group member Mollie King who opted for a highwaisted skirt and gladiator sandals for her night out on the town.
While I was getting over my jet lag yesterday (ok I promise no more mentions of holidays now) the stars were once again out in full force enjoying the warm weather in London.
No stranger to the London nightlife scene Amy Winehouse made the most of the heat stepping out in a blue bodycon dress and her trademark ballet pumps to watch Nas and Damian Marley perform at the Hammersmith Apollo. Across town, former Hollyoaks star Emma Rigby opted for skinny jeans, peeptoe wedges and a casual blazer following her performance for the Wolfboy musical.
Lauren Laverne played it safe in a vintage style black dress and ankle peep toe boots for the Mercury Prize Nominations at The Hospital. She was joined by Corrine Bailey Rae who also opted for this colour in the shape of an asymmetric black jumpsuit. However, it was Fearne Cotton who once again won the ShinyStyle best dressed award in a fashion mish mash consisting of a rock tee, vintage skirt complete with petticoat and pink brogues.
Yes I know on paper it shouldn’t work but Fearne carried it off. However, a word of caution, copying Fearne’s look by sticking on everything under the sun won’t quite work here. It may look like a messy outfit but I guarantee it takes hours of planning.
Fearne Cotton’s made it into this week’s “Spotted In London” again, as always, leaving the Radio One studio looking like a true Londoner in a slouchy, mustard yellow skirt teamed up with an animal-print blouse and denim shirt. If you look closely you’ll notice that she’s wearing the same leather uber-heels that she was spotted in last time – shoes so fierce that they practically wear her, not the other way round.
Amy Winehouse and Diana Vickers were both spotted again too – Amy was papped at the “Psychosis” première (bizarrely, so was the lead singer from The Darkness) sporting a huge grin and even huger hair, showing off her tan and her new healthier figure in a clinging magenta mini-dress cinched in at the waist with a leather corset-style belt. Meanwhile, Vickerz was spotted leaving the BBC One studios looking very Florence Welch in a pretty cotton white maxidress.
Mollie King and Una Healy of The Saturdays were also looking good in simple outfits leaving the MTV studios in Camden; Mollie looked the quintessential girl-next-door in a crisp blue shirt and denim micro-shorts, while bandmate Una Healy opted for a more sexed-up approach to her outfit by pairing up her denim with a cropped shirt tied at the waist to show off her very brown midriff.
Jordan was also spotted leaving the MTV studios in the daytime, looking a lot scarier than The Saturdays and looking a lot like Donnatella Versace’s evil sister. Her accessory: those stupid lips. No wonder she never looks very happy.
Today’s “Spotted in London” award goes to Fearne for being creative with her fabric and colour combinations. I never thought I’d like mustard yellow but I’ve been proved wrong. Good job.

Celebrities have been all over London in the last couple of days, some looking better than others.
Ellen Page, the pint sized Juno star was seen going into the Dorchester Hotel with a takeaway salad in London, looking fresh-faced but scruffily down to earth in weathered-looking jeans and trainers.
There seemed to be some kind of celebrity get-together at ITV studios, where Diana Vickers, looking glossy and sweet in a sailor-collar dress and tennis shoes, Sophie Ellis Bextor, looking ethereal in black opaques and a printed minidress, and Holly Willoughby were each papped leaving the studios. Holly looked glamorous and polished leaving in a blue minidress to show off her curves and was sporting sixties-esque blonde curls. The same cannot be said for her best friend and partner-in-crime Fearne Cotton, who emerged from the Radio 1 offices looking grungy and dishevelled in a button-up mididress, denim jacket and fiercely studded shoes.
Victoria Beckham also looked less than her usual self as she was snapped in her car on the way to the office looking tired and strained, but still chic in satellite-dish sunnies and a sleek dark wardrobe.
Blonde beauties Emma Rigby (of Hollyoaks fame) and uber-babe Claudia Schiffer were both seen about about about in London. Emma was papped tripping prettily out of the Christian Louboutin store in a cool slouchy blazer, stripy tee and skyscraping periwinkle-blue heels, whilst Claudia was spotted doing the school run looking effortlessly European in what looks like a Stella McCartney denim midi-skirt with a printed tee and huge fringed tote bag.
Last but not least, Amy Winehouse was spotted going into her friend Mark Ronson’s gig at Bungalow 8 looking her old self in her trademark 1950s Grease mode of dress, a pair of acid wash pedal pushers, silk top, with a red scarf cheekily tied into her infamous beehive.
Today’s “Spotted in London” fashion award goes to Diana Vickers, who’s style has come such a long way from the cavegirl-hair-and-weird-claw phase. Top marks, Vickers.

It was another star studded night (honestly we don’t know celebs do it) as A-listers hit London’s Berkeley Square Gardens for the Glamour Women of The Year awards.
Abigail Clancy made the most of her footie boyfriend’s absence, turning up to the event in a stunning blue jumpsuit with piping detail around the plunging neckline. She completed the look with a skinny belt. Cheryl Cole also wowed in a soft pink beaded short dress complete with a little train while Radio Personality of the Year – Fearne Cotton – went for big and billowing with a red chiffon short dress.
She was joined in this trend by pregnant Rachel Stevens and Lily Allen who channelled this look with a black dress complete with big sleeves.
UK TV Actress of the Year, Billie Piper, kept it simple in a gorgeous black long dress and Florence Welch, who won band of the year, went for a striking LBD.
Nicole Richie who was Entrepreneur of the Year also wins our best dressed award with her nude long fistail frock.
See our gallery for the best dressed of the night.
Fearne Cotton’s moved up in the world since her first stint presenting children’s TV all that time ago. Not only is the starlet well known for her radio, interviewing (who could forget her interview with the Princes) but also her quirky fashion sense.
She’s been snapped many a time wearing a range of different styles and she’s also got a successful range with new catalogue shop Very. However, we’re pleased to see she’s still got her highstreet head well and truly screwed on after she was spotted in this cute tunic by Yumi and you can buy it from here.
Layer with a long sleeved top and team up with leggings a la Fearne. Or wear with patterned tights for an evening look. You can get some inspiration for these by checking out our statement tights gallery.
