Updos are always a hot look around the AW season, especially in December when the Christmas and New Year’s eve parties are in full swing.
This season this traditional look has been revamped and interpreted into a modern look, which gives a nod to the ballet trend as well as the 80s.
Simple, yet intricate neat buns were hot on the YSL and Donna Karen catwalks, whilst low ponytails made an appearance at Gucci. 80s sleek chic was also a trend showcased at Fendi and Missoni.
With so many styles to choose from this season, we guarantee you’ll look hot at that party.
See the gallery below for designer hair inspiration.

Designers, dresses, Events, Features, Gallery, Milan Fashion Week

Once again Karl Lagerfeld has sprinkled his magic dust over Fashion Week again, as today’s Fendi show proved to be a kitsch 60s sportswear delight as the designer sent his models down a runway, backdropped by a giant set of baking scales, sporting teased beehives and retro-inspired mini-dresses and jackets.
Only Karl Lagerfeld could take something so completely overused a fashion reference as the 1960s and recreate it in a fresh, modern way – dark, crisp mens’ tweeds and playful coloured sunglasses brought the look up to date, while the leather Fendi satchels and flats gave it that much-needed quirkiness that will appeal to girls like Alexa Chung.
To us, the new Fendi collection was obviously 1960s, but a luxurious, wealthy European 1960s in which every beautiful girl drives a white scooter and lunches in Milan every day. The main palette of crisp whites, blacks and greys in stiff silhouettes gave it a classic feel, but clever Lagerfeld stopped things from becoming too mature with coloured leather sandals and gleaming gold details on the buttons and cuffs.
Eventually sporty, playful sun-dresses and separates made way for eveningwear, which was a sleek, shimmering selection of black dresses and jumpsuits which glittered with incredibly pretty silver embellishments, sequin collars and iridescent fringing that gleamed as the garments moved. Absolutely stunning.
You can absolutely tell that Karl Lagerfeld is behind this collection, even without his trademark tweeds and textiles that we always see on the Chanel runways – the sharp silhouettes, the flirty and kitsch set-up of the baking scales behind the catwalk, the giant oversized eyewear – all pure Lagerfeld. I wonder what he’ll have to show us in Paris?

Designer Fashions, Designers, Gallery, Milan Fashion Week
By Andrea Petrou on September 24th, 2010
Milan Fashion Week’s chic designer style continued yesterday as Fendi marched its models down the designer catwalk.
The styles were fresh, giving a nod to the 70s with loose shirts, floral embroidery and wide legged light denim jeans.
Lantern sleeves on roomy long shirtdresses and blouses that buttoned up the arm, displayed bold colors — purple, turquoise, red and peach — and there were also a fair share of kimonos.
We can’t wait to get our hands on some of these creations. However with the highstreet copying these styles next season there may just be thousands of clones of Timotei beauties (come on you all remember those 70s styled adverts).

Ad campaigns, Fashion News

It seems that photographing models in gardens for SS2010 has become the style du jour.
Louis Vuitton started this trend getting model Lara Stone to pose in various garden shots for its upcoming campaign and the first glimpse of the new Fendi campaign shows this design house is following.
However, unlike many brands who have opted for celebrities to front their campaigns (we’re talking to you D&G) Fendi has gone down the traditional route hiring polish beauty Anja Rubik.
We think she strikes a gorgeous look in one of the first pictures shot by Karl Lagerfeld and we can’t wait to get our hands on the rest.

Looks like the Marc Jacobs ad campaign star will be one role that’s not recurring for Victoria Beckham (unlike her Ugly Betty gig, which she will reprise).
Marc has chosen to fuel the comeback of the 90s supermodel by hiring Stella Tennant and Kirsten Owen for his fall 2008 advertising.

The see-through fabrics on spring runways were a bit more scandalous than those that came out of the woodwork for fall, so you should have plenty of options at mass market retailers and malls in the coming months. This trend is gaining momentum and should be around for a while so pick up a few pieces now.

In one writer’s humble opinion, Milan Fashion Week started off strong and then kind of petered out. While I love all three of these designers, who showed Thursday and Friday this week closing out the Milan shows, none of these collections really struck me as much as say, D&G or the controversial Prada show.

Cheap by no stretch of the imagination, but a bargain maybe. This brown leather beaded Fendi Spy bag is marked down from $2,499 to $1,810.
If you’ve been in the market for a spy or had your eye on this one in particular, then that’s probably a good deal! It’s all relative, after all.
We like that this bag has a rock and roll feel without going all out with studs. The beading is a bit more subtle and really highlights the proportions that make a spy bag a spy bag.

New Fendi arrivals are now online at Saks Fifth Avenue and we’ve chosen a couple that stand out from the pack for very different reasons. The Fendi Multicolor Spy Bag, $1,280, on the left will at once compliment and help tone down spring’s vividly colored dresses. The dark chocolate, milk chocolate and caramel lamb leathers will pick up the brights without competing. The woven handle and contrast piping add a little something extra to this spy bag. If you’re planning to stick to more of a neutral palette and prefer something a bit more classic, this Chef Leather Frame Bag, $1,360, is probably more up your alley. We see this in Palm Beach while the multicolored spy is in Miami, if you know what we mean.
If you like that, discover all things Fendi at TheBagLady.tv.

If you’ve ever tried to search for items found in In Style magazine on their Web site, as I often have in the past both for purchase or feature on this site, you might have had some difficulty. Many of the items were not available online, and when you called the number offered, you would be told to check your local such and such department store in two months, or something even more vague. We hoped that InStyle.com’s new Shopping feature would fix all that, but we’re not so sure.
Usually, items from their instantstyle section where they lay out outfits for a “winter getaway” for instance (page 99 of the December issue) were most easily searchable on their site. But the first three items I tried to shop for were not to be found in the bag selection offered from the December issue: a Cole Haan bag from page 99, a Fendi clutch from page 100, or a Doo Ri Chung bag from the Designer Lust List on page 126.

If you have close to $7,000 just laying around, then you should definitely consider this Fendi 10th Anniversary baguette available at Net-A-Porter for $6,670! I can’t imagine spending that much money on a handbag, but maybe that’s just me. This limited-edition bag features gray embellishments and silver and black beading with a double F logo buckle and watersnake handle. Inside, the baguette is lined in red satin with a ‘Limited Edition’ bead embroidery. It’s a beautiful bag, but worth $6,670?? What do you think?

The annual ranking of handbag brands has been released by WWD today with some surprises. First off, Coach nabs the top spot as the brand luxury consumers are most familiar with, above Louis Vuitton by no small margin. 76% of consumers recognize a Coach bag as compared to 63% who recognize the venerable LV. But just as surprising are the vast differences among the “it” bags which are driving other competitors in the sector. Gucci came in number three and credits the Indy Bag, left, for sales growth. This bag is very traditional and less high-fashion with its logo print, despite a high price tag of $2,350. On the other hand, eighth-ranked Fendi is relying on its rather out-there To You bag, $1,300, which is very interesting but may not appeal to mass consumers.

If you’re not one to shy away from prints, you’ll love this look from Fendi, worn by model Freja Beha Erichsen on the spring runway in Milan Fashion Week. The optical-illusion look pairs two clashing circle patterns with a color-block belt, reminiscent of this geometric design bag, which came out in September.
