Festival goers arriving for the Reading Festival, at Richfield Avenue in Reading.

Oh dear, another festival, another downpour. This weekend it’s the Reading Festival and the weather is shocking. Already it’s a mudbath and it isn’t set to get any better. Sorry guys. This year’s headliners include Pulp, The Strokes, My Chemical Romance and The Strokes. Enjoy the rain.

Kate Moss is the ultimate festival style icon says Alice Temperley.

By Andrea Petrou on June 20th, 2011

Kate Moss is the ultimate festival style icon, according to Alice Temperley.

The British designer – who dressed Pippa Middleton for the royal wedding reception – believes the 37-year-old model always gets her music festival look right and maintains it is simple to achieve.

She told Vogue.co.uk: “Take really comfortable loose pieces that look effortless to wear. Converse are the perfect shoes, unless you need wellies, as they helps protect your feet if you tread on anything horrid – not too hot not too cold.

“A pair of sunglasses are a must and a good satchel or pouch bag that you can wear across your body with the few essentials – the smaller the better. Loose layers and a piece of cashmere so you don’t get caught short when the sun goes behind a cloud.”

Alice recently revealed how happy she was to work with Pippa on her dress for the wedding reception of Pippa’s sister Duchess Catherine and her husband Prince William.

She said: “I was delighted that Ms. Pippa Middleton asked us to design her dress for the royal wedding evening reception. Pippa is a beautiful young woman and a pleasure to work with. She looked incredible and the green looks great on her skin tone.”

Top 5 high street playsuits

By Elisabeth on June 2nd, 2011

With the sun shining and the festival season just around the corner I’m sure you’re busy planning what clothes to bring to ensure the music and drinking experience is as stylish yet comfortable as can be.

Muddy fields and spilled drinks are a guaranteed feature of any festival, so high heels and long skirts are perhaps not the best gear for style conscious girls. That’s why we’re loving that playsuits are in fashion this summer as they go with wellies, let you sit down without having to figure out how avoid that dreaded builders bum and they look great when teamed with a denim jackets.

If you haven’t found the perfect playsuit yet, here are five from the high street that won’t break the bank – leaving you with more money to spend on organic cider!

Casual Friday: Top five must-have trainers

By Shiny writer on July 30th, 2010

Yay. It’s Friday and the weekend awaits. For many of you this will will mean chilling out at home, meeting up with friends, but most importantly the fact that you get to swap those work clothes and heels for jeans and trainers.

And some of you may already be doing that just now, with lots of companies giving their staff dress down Friday.

Over the years trainers have become a huge fashion statement moving from the gym into ever fashionista’s shoe collection. And of course companies, including DKNY and Chanel, have wised up to this creating stylish footwear that is perfect for the casual look without looking as though you’re heading off to exercise. This season it’s all about 80s Converse, pimped up plimsolls and blingtastic sneakers.

Here’s ShinyStyle’s highstreet top 5 for that weekend chillout or as a wellie alternative at festivals.

Trend alert: Top 5 festival must have accessories

By Andrea Petrou on June 25th, 2010

Glastonbury ticket holders who still had to go into work today will be counting to Friday evening, where many will get ready to head to the festival. However, like with any mini break there’s always those last minute bits that need buying.

This could be anything from dry shampoo or face wipes to bigger things such as a waterproof coat or a straw hat, which has already been making trend waves at this year’s festival (see our gallery here for Glasto pics).

And then there’s the all important bag to consider too. So we’ve decided to put together a last minute Glastonbury must-have accessory gallery for those still panicking about this or for those who are thinking in advance for their time at V Festival, Creamfields or the other hundreds of festivals that are going on this summer.
