Rosie Huntington-Whiteley keeps her figure thanks to three personal trainers

By Andrea Petrou on October 3rd, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has three personal trainers.

The British beauty – who is the face of Burberry Body – admits she needs to always be in the gym to maintain her trim physique, and has trainers in all three cities in which she works.

She said: “It takes lots and lots of hard work. I have three personal trainers – James Duigan in London, Jason Walsh in Los Angeles and my friend Justin in New York. That means there’s no excuse not to be in the gym wherever I go.”

In addition to a strict exercise regime, the 24-year-old model also controls what she eats, and tries to put few carbohydrates into her body.

She added to Britain’s Grazia magazine: “Everything starts with exercise. Then you want to look after yourself and put good food in your body.

“I have a really good response when I cut out carbs so that’s something I always do before a great event. I eat a high-protein diet and lots of greens.”

Jennifer Aniston stays slim by avoiding junk food

By Andrea Petrou on June 28th, 2011

Jennifer Aniston stays slim by avoiding junk food.

The ‘Horrible Bosses’ star insists she doesn’t stick to a strict diet to maintain her stunning figure and just limits her intake of fatty meals.

She said: “I’ve never been a fanatic when it comes to what I eat. I’ve always discovered that I can stay fit by avoiding junk foods and eating healthily, while running or exercising regularly. I don’t have any formula.”

The 42-year-old actress’ favourite exercise is yoga and she works out every day because she feels more energetic after working out.

She revealed to new! magazine: “I love to do yoga. I have more energy if I can do workout for 20 minutes every day. If I exercise enough I can eat what I want and not worry about my weight or how I look.

If I put on a few pounds, I just eat more fish and salads for a week and exercise four or five times a week as opposed to two or three times.

The important thing is to stick to a healthy routine. I feel better after a good workout and it gives you more energy for the entire day. I try not to worry or stress about things anymore ¬ I just like to get on with my life.”

Aruna Seth wants to see Pippa Middleton wearing more of her shoes

By Andrea Petrou on June 21st, 2011

One of Pippa Middleton’s favourite designers hopes to see the royal family wearing more of her designs.
Duchess Catherine’s sister wore a pair of Aruna Seth silver sandals with her green Alice Temperley gown to her sibling’s wedding reception and Aruna hopes Pippa will influence other members of the royal family to follow in her footsteps.

She told vogue.co.uk: “We’d love to see more of the royal family at all their social events in Aruna Seth shoes.

“The royal family have to wear classic outfits because their photographs are remembered forever, and we design our shoes to be classics with longevity. We loved Princess Beatrice’s Philip Treacy hat at the royal wedding and her dusty pink Valentino couture outfit looked divine. We’d love to see more A-list celebrities wearing Aruna Seth at the Oscars next year and we’ll certainly be sending out extra pairs of our shoes over to LA in preparation for all the awards ceremonies.”

With the royals’ emphasis on classic couture, Aruna is hopeful her company’s latest collection in neutral shades will be exactly what they are looking for.

She added: “This summer we’ve tried to focus on neutral colours, many of the shoes are nude and tan toned with the idea the shoes can be easily matched with many outfits and are a classic design.

“We still have some sparkly shoes in the collection, for example our silver Lynn Swarovski butterfly sandals.”

By Andrea Petrou on May 9th, 2011

Cheryl Cole has hired celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson to get her into top shape before the American ‘X Factor’ starts.

The singer has just been confirmed as a judge on the new version of Simon’s Cowell’s pop star search show and is so determined to impress US audiences she started working out with Tracy – a favourite of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson – just hours before filming her first episode of the show yesterday (08. 05.11).

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Cheryl works out anyway but she knows that Los Angeles celebrities have a completely different health and fitness ethos.

“A few weeks back, Cheryl arranged to take lessons with Tracy after Derek Hough introduced them. She wants to make sure she’s fighting fit and ready for the US ‘X Factor’ – and the American audience – and she wants the best in the business for it.”

Cheryl joins Simon, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul on the judging panel of the show and although Paula claims she cannot wait to work with the British star, saying “I’m excited I get to meet her, I’ve heard such lovely things about her,” Simon has already hinted there will be rivalry between the two female judges.

He said: “You put pretty girls together it’s like three cats in a sack, isn’t it. And it needs a bit of a shake.”

By Andrea Petrou on April 6th, 2010

Victoria Beckham

We’ve seen many a celebrity fitness and spiritual trends over the past few years. Cupping, Kabbalah and the tamer pilates, you name it, we’ve heard about it. And now there’s a new kid on the fitness block.

According to Heat magazine super skinny Victoria Beckham has become a fan of Yogalosophy, which is a combination of yoga and astrology. The designer who has previously admitted she hates the gym is said to have embraced the craze which she can practice in her own home.

The exercise programme involves two 30-minute yoga routines, followed by a 55-minute series of poses – designed to help weight loss and increase muscle definition.

‘She bought the Yogalosophy DVD and does her workout at home up to four times a week to ‘align her mind and spirit’,’ an inside source told Heat magazine.

‘She’s really starting to notice the difference.’

So if that Easter egg fest got a bit too much over the weekend and you don’t want to hit that treadmill this may be a perfect way to get fit too.

ShinyStyle watch: Stella McCartney’s SS2010 Adidas range

By Andrea Petrou on January 15th, 2010

January is the month where many of us vow to get fit, or look at quick fix solutions to banish and hide that post Christmas bulge.

If you’re someone who has chosen to take up the first option and sign up to the gym, then you’ll know the importance of having proper sportswear instead of using those old tracksuit bottoms, which have a habit of falling down every two minutes (or is that just me?).

There is a range of good and fashionable fitness wear in the shops, however if you want to go that step further and be a designer gym bunny, there’s only one collection to buy. Yes, you’ve guessed it, Stella McCartney’s Adidas range.

We got quite excited when we saw a glipse of the new SS2010 range last year, which is due out in February. However, if you missed it, we’ve got a video showcasing the latest must have gym wear, which now also includes Triathalon and cylcling wear too.

Stella said: “This collection continues to be a great success, and I’m very excited to introduce Triathalon and Cycling as new categories.

“I’m always trying to push myself and this new collection has everything you need in sports today; it’s sleek, stylish and super sporty!”

For many the turkey and mince pie fuelled Christmas will be the catalyst for “I’ll join the gym”, where we’ll sign up in January with good intentions, which we hope will continue.

To add to your motivation we’ve put together a gallery of fashionable fitness clothing making you look like a trendsetter on the treadmill.

Why bikinis in public swimming pools should be banned

By Andrea Petrou on November 13th, 2009

Barbie.jpgOur guest writer Lauren has done an outstanding job of bringing all our fashion faux pas into the spotlight. She’s cussed the cleavage and caused a mini fashion war with her article on Uggs. But she’s also got me thinking about all the little fashion things that really get my goat and I feel it’s time I spoke out. First on my hit list are those Bikini wearing Barbies in public swimming pools.

Last week I decided it was time to rid myself of the growing love handles (the joys of working from home) and hit the local pool.

Dressed in my no nonsense Speedo swimming cozzie and mentally congratulating myself at getting halfway through my first length I was rudely interrupted by the man in front of me stopping suddenly. So much so that if we’d been in cars there would have been a serious clash of metal and full blown arguments.

So what had made him stop? A heart attack? Or perhaps that pesky swimming stitch you get when you decide to go full throttle on a rather bloated stomach? Or maybe the poor man was having trouble breathing. Either one would have been equally acceptable, but looking up I realised the real reason for the collision, which involved far too much skin contact deemed acceptable for a leisurely weekday swim, was the itsy bitsy bikini wearing Baywatch barbie that had just stepped in from the grimy changing rooms.

Posing and preening in her glorious polka dot (I kid you not) bit of rag complete with little bows, she painted a farcical picture amongst the grey and 60s styling of the pool, but she seemed selfishly oblivious to her surroundings.

Like a mythical siren from Greek literature she had managed to stop every single man, each of whom were doing a very good impression of a gaping swimming pool drain, in their front crawl tracks. Not only were these men close to drowning (it’s never a good idea to open your mouth when you’re immersed in water) but their sudden swimming strike was inconveniencing us serious female fitness fanatics.

If it had not been an offence you can be sure we all would have lynched her. Maybe that’s going a bit too far. Considering where we were, drowning would have been a better option.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fuddy duddy granny who can’t bear bikinis and this isn’t a piece fuelled by jealousy. I’ll happily don one on the beach. Afterall we’ve fought to be able to wear them since they first crashed into French fashion in 1946.

French fashion historian Olivier Saillard got it spot on when he said: “The emancipation of swimwear has always been linked to the emancipation of women.”

Designed by French engineer Louis Réard, the beachwear, was named after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the site of the Operation Crossroads nuclear weapon tests in July that year. The reasoning behind the name was that the burst of excitement created by it would be like a nuclear device. However, I don’t think the genius designer could have known how much of an explosion it’s made, especially when it comes to my war against public pool bikini abusers.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad if, after their grand entrance these bikini bunnies actually swam, but no, thats far too much to ask. Instead they incessantly pose, taking great delight in the attention they attract and stand giggling with their bikini buddies while blocking our safe shallow end haven.

But is there any pool rule against this. Amongst the signs of “no heaving petting” “no spitting” and “no diving” is there anything that says “no Barbies bearing bikinis blocking serious swimmers”? Like heck there is. That would ruin the male life guards fun.

I asked my local government run leisure centre what their take on this trend was. A spokesman for the organisation told me “We allow any type of swimwear as long as it’s deemed respectable, doesn’t offend and is safe for swimming in.”

And what exactly would the centre class as offensive? G-strings and “those new see-through creations.”

However, just because a leisure centre deems it acceptable it doesn’t make it right. In my eyes there’s a time and place for everything (take note Jordan) and wearing a bikini in a public swimming pool is as wrong as Cheryl Cole’s David Koma dress, or a pair of winter crocs complete with socks . With perfectly acceptable sensible swimwear out there no one needs to bare all at the local pool.
