Freida Pinto seems to have finally realised how famous and successful she is, because she’s admitted that she’s no longer trying to scrimp and save every penny at flea markets.
The “Slumdog Millionaire” actress may be rich enough to not buy second-hand clothes anymore, but she’s still amazed that she can employ stylists to dress her now. Freida said: “I have access to certain things that I wouldn’t ever have before. I used to go down to the flea markets and put these things together and take them to my tailor to be fixed up. And now there are other people who do that for me!”
While the down-to-earth star has been previously used to hunting in flea markets, she’s also confessed that she loves getting ready for red carpet events and getting to wear couture gowns. Freida explained her love of the red carpet: “I look at it as fun. I think it’s terrifying if you’re trying to do something you’re not comfortable with, or trying to channel something you’re not. But if you’re just being true to the kind of clothes you wear, it’s fun.”
The Slumdog Millionaire beauty Freida Pinto says she is incredibly grateful for the fashion house Chanel’s support early on in her career.
The iconic fashion house was the first to lend her couture and pieces from their current collections for her red-carpet appearances, even when she was just a little-known actress beginning her career.
Freida said: “I tell you why I like Chanel so much; when I started off, no one wanted to give me clothes to wear. Absolutely no one. All the labels said, ‘Who is she?’ Modelling was not completely satisfying. But Chanel believed in me from the very beginning. For the very first red carpet I did at the Toronto Film Festival in 2008, they dressed me up in their very current season collection. It’s a massive brand, why would they invest in someone who is nobody?”
Lucky Freida has since struck up a friendship with Chanel’s director, Karl Lagerfeld, who has had a big influence over her dress sense. She said: “I always have a good time with Karl because he’s so appreciative and wants me to try different things.”
We wish Chanel would believe in us.. go on Karl, lend us some dresses.

Freida Pinto has been a key person to watch ever since she exploded onto our screens in Slumdog Millionaire and her fashion style always amazes me.
I’ve seen numerous photos of her looking every inch the starlet in high street store clothes and I think she sets a great example.
And it seems we can also now get her look makeup wise too. At the GQ Men of the Year Awards this week Freida used Cosmetics La Carte.
Her makeup artist, artist Joe Hopker, said: “This time I wanted to create a sultry glittery effect, so I used the lively Starshine in ‘Storm’ (£15) on the eyes. I also used the Cheek Tint in Coral (£22), which creates a beautiful, fresh, apricot glow to the cheeks.”
As Freida has quite dry skin, Joe used the Hydra Mist (£20) fine spray body moisturizer on Freida’s arms and legs to create a sexy sheen.
I can’t wait to try out some of these products, maybe if I’m lucky they may even help me bag a millionaire.

Like her film Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto is the true Cindarella story of the 2009 awards season. She has struck us every time with her beauty and intelligence, but unfortunately has yet to truly strike us with her fashion. Tonight we were glad to see her in something a little brighter and a shape inspired by her home country. But her blue John Galliano gown wasn’t as youthful as we would have liked. She wore Jimmy Choo shoes, Judith Leiber bag and a Martin Katz ring featuring a 150-year-old vintage diamond from India.
