Rachel Zoe thinks John Galliano’s recent alleged anti-Semitic rant was “tragic”

By Andrea Petrou on March 11th, 2011

Rachel Zoe thinks John Galliano’s recent alleged anti-Semitic rant was “tragic”.

The designer was sacked from fashion house Christian Dior after he was accused of making racist and anti-Semitic remarks during a drunken rant in Paris and while stylist Rachel has been friends with John for years, she was disappointed with his remarks.

She said: “It’s a little insane and super-sad. Anti-Semitism, racism or any prejudice is not something I tolerate. I’ve fired clients because they were anti-Semitic, or anti-everything, except what they were. “I’ve known John Galliano and his boyfriend for years. I don’t know enough about it to make a clear statement, but if it’s true, it’s tragic.”

Rachel – who made her name as a stylist to the stars with clients including Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson and Demi Moore – also revealed she has always been desperate to work in fashion but is uncomfortable with the fame that comes with it.

She explained to The Hollywood Reporter magazine: “I worked 20-something hours a day, seven days a week. I was completely obsessed with fashion and spent all my money flying to Paris to go to couture because that was the dream. I crashed shows, stood in line for Marc Jacobs. Designers were my heroes and my celebrities. It hasn’t really worn off.

“A stylist is a behind-the-scenes job. I’m never a star when I’m with a star – ever. Back then, I was very insecure about that. Even now, if you watch me on a red carpet, I’m physically uncomfortable. I can’t strike a good pose to save my life. Fortunately and unfortunately, it’s a part of brand-building. It’s just part of my job.”

Gallery: The changing style of Taylor Momsen

By Shiny writer on August 3rd, 2010

There’s not much to say about Taylor Momsen that hasn’t already been said. Don’t get us wrong, we’re big fans of the Gossip Girl, turned rocker, and it seems we’re not alone.

This year she’s received attention from both Madonna and John Galliano and her band, Pretty Reckless is going from strength. She’s also had a modelling debut with New Look and although it seems she’s an old starlet, she’s not.

She’s just accomplished alot in her young life and she’s also created a fashion statement amongst her fans- the stockings and suspenders.

However, she wasn’t always the rock chick, complete with statement thick eyeliner and bright red lipstick. And up until 2008, her clothes were sensible and girly to match her Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey. We have a look at her changing faces.

Heidi Klum, Helen Mirren, Anne Hathaway, and Katherine Heigl don red for the Oscars

By Andrea Thatcher on February 24th, 2008

Red was definitely the stand-out color on the red carpet, and the dresses were so different that each of the ladies really stood out as well.

Heidi Klum was one of the first out of the gate in a dramatic Galliano gown. Maybe either the collar or the big train would have been enough, both together seem a little bit much. But Heidi carries it off regally.
