Get the look: Twilight star Ashley Greene

By Andrea Petrou on June 17th, 2010

Ashley Greene has been in and out of the press in the past few weeks. She’s busy promoting the next installment of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie and there have been rumours that she will not be filming the next films over disputes about pay. Thankfully, and thanks to our readers who pointed us in the right direction, this has now been resolved and it seems Ashley will be back filming for Breaking Dawn meaning we’ll be able to continue seeing her laid back and smart style.

Unlike her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, Ashley is more of a girl’s girl opting for femine cuts and colours. Her smart wardrobe consists of fitted dresses by designers such as Antonio Berardi and her casual style is skinny jeans, logo tees and leggings. We’ve put together a gallery of Ashley’s best fashion bits and given you highstreet alternatives to match.

Take a look and tell us which outfit is your favourite by leaving your comments below.

Get the Look: Elle Macpherson

By Andrea Petrou on June 9th, 2010

Elle Macpherson was one of the original supermodels, and if we’re honest we’re still very envious of those long legs.

However, one thing we can’t take away from Elle is her incredible fashion sense. Even when she’s just taking her children to school the yummy mummy looks stunning opting for skinny jeans or leggings and giving them a classic twist with a staple blazer or plain tee.

She’s also not afraid to show off those pins opting at other times for boho style shirt dresses or something that bit more classy for a night out.

And with the model set to present the next season of Britian’s Next Top Model, which will be hitting Living TV very soon we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her style.

Until then we’ve put together a few looks, which we think will let you channel Elle’s look at highstreet prices.

Get the look: Kylie Minogue’s summer style

By Andrea Petrou on June 4th, 2010

What is there to say about Kylie‘s style that hasn’t been said before? She’s cool, sassy and pulls off casual amazingly well.

On stage the pint sized singer sparkles in outfits including hotpants, PVC and we can credit her with introducing the snood into mainstream fashion thanks to her outfit choice in her “Can’t get you out of my head” music video.

However, when she’s not performing Kylie does what many of us do. She goes casual in jeans and vests, which she heavily accessorises with sunglasses, bags and chunky necklaces. We’ve put together a get the look of the singer’s summer outfits to give you some summer wardrobe inspiration.

Gallery: Get Cheryl Cole’s casual look

By Andrea Petrou on June 3rd, 2010

Cheryl Cole may have had a host of up and downs this past year but her personal problems have never detracted from her amazing style.

The popstar and X-Factor judge has never had a “bad style” day and whether she’s performing in Roberto Cavalli gowns or chilling out she always looks right on-trend.

The one thing we really like about Cheryl’s style though is that when she does casual, she does it in a way we can all follow, going for skinny jeans, biker jackets, chunky cardigans worn over frilly tees and of course her hats and sunnies.

We’ve therefore decided to dedicate a gallery today to getting Cheryl’s look at highstreet prices. Have a look and let us know which one is your favourite item.

Fashion Crush: River Island Sex and The City dress

By Andrea Petrou on June 1st, 2010

Pink Dress River Island-400.jpg

We went Sex and the City 2 mad last week giving you get the looks for each of the four characters, before ending it all with a SATC2 fashion face off (if you haven’t already voted click here).

However, if we’re honest we don’t really want to stop with all the fun SATC2 fashion just yet so we thought we’d dedicate our fashion crush post to this cute little pink dress.

The short frock from River Island channels Charlotte’s structured SATC 2 style but is bought right on-trend with an asymmetric styling twist.

Team up with a blingtastic ring and black patent skyscraper heels for that perfect Charlotte look. And the £40 price tag isn’t bad either.

Get the look: Miranda’s SATC2 style

By Andrea Petrou on May 27th, 2010

Ladies, in less than 24 hours SATC2 will officially be released and we know many of you will be flocking to your nearest cinema to revel in all the fashion delights that the film will bring.

Over the week we’ve been giving you get the looks from all the characters and today it’s the turn of Miranda. Now we love Carrie’s casual and glam looks, Samantha’s daring attire and Charlotte’s kitsh suits but it’s Miranda who we most aspire to when we’re out at work.

Her smart and sophisticated style, which refelect her role as a lawyer are perfect for ladies who have to dress up to the nines in the office.

We’ve grabbed stills from the film and put together some highstreet alternatives to help you go to work in SATC2 style.

Get the look: Samantha’s SATC2 style

By Andrea Petrou on May 26th, 2010

There’s two days left until er get our chance to see the SATC girls in their full glory and we’re counting down the hours.

But it’s not just the plot line we’ll be looking out for, it’s of course all the fashion that comes with it too. Yesterday we bought you a gallery of Carrie’s wardrobe with highstreet alternatives and now it’s the turn of man hungry, and dare we say cougar, Samantha Jones.

It’s one brave lady who can pull off the low necklines, tight bodycon dresses and of course killer heels that Sam is known for wearing, but we’ve used stills from the upcoming films and put together some highstreet alternatives for those of you who dare to bare.

Let us know which outfit rocks your boat by leaving your comments below.

Get the look: Alexa Chung’s Met Ball shoes

By Andrea Petrou on May 6th, 2010

Alexa Chung Met ball-400.jpg

Unlike many of the A-listers that turned up in fab frocks for the Met Ball over the weekend, Alexa Chung opted for an androgenous style.

She turned up at the fashion focused event looking stunning in a Phillip Lim tux, which made her stand out from the crowd in a good way. To give the look a more femine feel Ms Chung also teamed this up with a cutesy girly blouse, which looks suspiciously like Chanel, a brand that Alexa is a huge fan of.

However, one of our favourite parts of this outfit was Alexa’s black shoes. We’re currently trying to find out where these are from (if you know please tell us by leaving your comments below) but we’ve found a very similar, and we’re sure, cheaper pair from Shudoo.

These Bertie Seychelles have a peep toe, which is perfect for the summer, and come in at a very reasonable £80.

Grab them now.

Get the Look: Kristen Stewart

By Andrea Petrou on May 5th, 2010

Kristen Stewart has become a style icon in her own right.

Unlike many of her Hollywood counterparts the Twilight star has shunned the girly cutesy look and gone for a funky fashion look which gives an ever so tiny nod to the Gothic trend.

The key part of Kristen’s style is that whatever she wears she looks comfortable in and although she favours casual styles such as jeans, trainers and hoodies, she also looks hot on the red carpet thanks to her choice of little dresses and heels.

We’ve picked our some of Kristen’s best looks and matched up some highstreet versions for you to buy.

Get the look: Lady Gaga’s black patent biker boots

By Andrea Petrou on April 15th, 2010

lady gaga boots.jpg

As our regular readers will know by now we’re huge fans of Lady Gaga over here at ShinyStyle. Yes, she may do some crazy things such as defacing £3000 Birkin bags and putting her health at risk by wearing unsuitable outfits on planes, but there’s no denying the Lady has style.

Normally we wouldn’t attempt to even try wearing her kooky outfits – they are for her, and her only – but sometimes there’s something in her wardrobe that we might just be able to get away with, and in this case it’s the black PVC boots she was spotted wearing on one of her many days out.

We love this footwear, which gives a nod to the punk trend and is very Vivienne Westwood. Although we wouldn’t be brave enough to team them up with a sheer top and matching black undies a la Lady G, we would consider wearing them with a skirt or shorts for a more casual look.

Get Gaga’s look with these Bumper Black Patent Biker Boots from Shudoo. At £235 they aren’t the cheapest shoes on the block but we think it’s a small price to pay for Lady Gaga style.

Get the look: Jessica Alba’s Global Green pre 2010 Oscar party pink dress

By Andrea Petrou on March 4th, 2010

This weekend stars galore will be hitting the red carpet for one of the most talked about events for the year. The Oscars.

However although the party doesn’t officially begin until Sunday, the great hype surrounding it is already underway, and in true Hollywood style pre-parties are springing up everywhere.

One such party is the 7th annual Global Green pre-Oscar party, which was held at Avalon
Los Angeles, last night. And the rain didn’t stop stars from attending.

One celeb braving the weather was Jessica Alba who turned up alongside husband Cash Warren hiding under a huge umbrella.

However it wasn’t that which caught our eye. It was her gorgeous pink chiffon short V front frock complete with capped sleeves and a black sash and strappy sandals. We think the Sin City star looks stunning and has got the smart/casual look spot on for a pre-party.

We’ve therefore put together a gallery of similar frocks and shoes to help you get that perfect party look.

By Andrea Petrou on January 19th, 2010
Cindy Crawford Style for JCPenney Launch Party

Cindy Crawford is known as one of the first top supermodels and although she may not strut her stuff on the catwalk as regularly as she once did, she’s still up their as one of our style icons.

So we were thrilled when we spotted a similar pair of sandals to the ones she wore at a launch party late last year.

The Margherita sandals from Geox have the same similar t-bar design to Cindy’s black leather ones, and we love the zip detail on the heel too.

Head down to Geox now and for £85 you can turn the pavement into your personal catwalk and strut your stuff in a pair.

Gallery: Polka dots, bows, and red and black dresses – Minnie Mouse inspired looks

By lotte on November 20th, 2009

Wednesday’s photos of Chanel Iman looking surprisingly stylish dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Vogue Germany inspired us to look for clothes and accessories that channel the cartoon mouse, without veering into fancy dress territory.

Oversized polka dots are a fresh take on the trend this season, and bows, whether undersized worn round your neck, or massive worn atop your head, are a trend that just won’t go away. Red and black can be a great colour combination for a party outfit, especially if you add some cartoon-like accessories. Or you could just wear a top with a picture of Minnie on it, if you can’t be bothered to be subtle about it.

Stacey Solomon’s Saturday outfit came with rented diamonds

By lotte on November 17th, 2009

Stacey Solomon.jpg Stacey’s outfit for her X Factor performance on Saturday reminded us a lot of a bridesmaid’s outfit – her dress was even designed (and custom made) by a bridal wear designer, Suzanne Neville. The full-length bronze corseted dress was chosen to fit in with the epic song choice, we’re sure, but it didn’t provide us with much style inspiration, unlike last week’s wet-look leggings. Unless you’re planning on getting married.

Her jewellery was eyecatching, though, and it turns out that the diamond earrings, bracelet and ring she was wearing were worth a massive £100,000. She used jewellery rental service Rent Your Rocks, and us mere members of the public who can’t afford to splash out £54,795 on a diamond cuff can use their services too, which cost from £50. So if you’ve got a special occasion coming up, you might be interested in borrowing some jewellery you’d never be able to afford normally – or you could just go to Topshop and pick up a diamante-encrusted cuff instead. Because, let’s be honest, who’s going to tell the difference.
