Rooney Mara won’t wear anything she owned before starring in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

By Andrea Petrou on December 19th, 2011

Rooney Mara won’t wear anything she owned before starring in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

The actress’ personal style completely transformed during the 14 months she spent portraying tattooed and pierced gothic computer hacker Lisbeth Salander for the film and is no longer very feminine, lacy, pink, whimsical and romantic.

She said: “My wardrobe has completely changed. It had to, partly because of my hair and partly because I stopped feeling comfortable in what I used to wear.

“I don’t feel comfy in those clothes anymore because I have been living as Lisbeth for 14 months.”

For the role Rooney also had to get her nipple pierced – which she has since kept in – and had to shave her head, which she said she was “really happy” to do.

Rooney also won her role in ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ for her wiliness to completely transform herself, with director David Fincher explaining: “She was willing to risk everything. Her take on Lisbeth was as someone who can turn it completely off.”

Red carpet Christmas outfit inspiration: Rooney Mara at the Girl with the Daragon Tattoo premiere and all the style from the Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol premiere

By Andrea Petrou on December 14th, 2011

When we’re having an “I don’t know what to wear” moment one of the places we’ll have a sneaky look at is red carpet events.

They are, afterall, a mecca for best dressed celebrities who have often been given top styling advice.

If you’re still stuck with what to wear to a smart Christmas party or for New Years eve then why not take some inspiration from girl of the moment Rooney Mara who went for a stunning white fishtail frock at the London premiere of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo?

If that’s a little bit too much then Caprice showed how  effective a simple red strapless dress could be at the Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, while Talula also showed how faux fur can be stylish and keep you snug at the same event.

See the gallery below for more inspiration.

H&M team up with the costume designer from ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ to create a capsule collection inspired by protagonist Lisbeth Salander

By Andrea Petrou on October 27th, 2011

H&M have collaborated with the costume designer from ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ to create a capsule collection inspired by protagonist Lisbeth Salander.

Trish Summerville has created all the outfits for Lisbeth (played by Rooney Mara) in the US adaptation of the Swedish film and she revealed she jumped at the chance to give the troubled heroine’s clothes a more “realistic fashion feel” for the Swedish retailer.

She told WWD: “We put a lot of aged-in washes and finishes, which goes along the lines of the Salander character. In the film, her clothes are quite extreme. They’re really worn down, they’re dirty. So for us, it was taking that kind of concept and giving it more of a realistic fashion feel.”

Anna Norling, division designer at H&M, said the company wanted to make Lisbeth’s clothes more flattering and feminine.

She explained: “We were really strongly inspired by the film and especially by Trish’s styling, but the collection wouldn’t have looked as it does without H&M, because we added the fashion point of view. I’m very happy with the result and I know that Trish is as well.”

Items in the range include tribal-style earrings, a leather jacket, which comes in washed black or deep burgundy, hoodies and lace-up boots.

The collection will make its debut at Paris boutique Colette on November 28.

Emma Watson to show off her People Tree SS2011 range at Royal Show

By admin on August 19th, 2010

Does Emma Watson ever stop working? Not only has she been endlessly promoting the next installment of Harry Potter, whipped up a beauty storm with her new cropped hairstyle and auditioned for the part of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo but she’s also now pushing her range of ethnic clothing for People Tree.

The line is set to make its catwalk debut next month but instead of going down the London Fashion Week catwalk, Emma has decided to show off her SS2011 range at The Prince of Wales’ A Garden Party To Make A Difference.

The eco festival held in Prince Charles’ private gardens will play host to Watson’s ethical range on September 12. However, Emma’s busy schedule means she won’t be able to attend.

“I’m so thrilled that People Tree will be showing the spring/summer collection at A Garden Party To Make A Difference. I think The Prince of Wales’ initiative is such a brilliant idea and I’m thrilled,” she said.

We can’t wait to see the new togs Emma.

Rooney Mara scores the role as the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

By admin on August 17th, 2010

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the role of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. And it was only last week that we reported that Emma Watson had cut off her hair in a bid to secure the role over starlets such as Carey Mulligan and Kristen Stewart.

However, we had a bit of a shock this morning when we found out it went to neither of these lovely ladies. Instead, the coveted role has been awarded to newcomer Rooney Mara, who is probably best known for her role in the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.

The relatively known actress will join Daniel Craig, who’s been cast as investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the silver screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling book, which begins filming in Sweden next month and is set for release in December 2011.

Rooney may be unknown now but we give it two months before she becomes our new celeb du jour and the fact that she’s also signed up to the sequels makes us think she’ll become a huge star. Watch this space ladies.

Is Emma Watson the next Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

By admin on August 10th, 2010

Could Emma Watson be the next Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? If rumours are to be believed then the answer could be yes.

Yesterday we speculated that the starlet had rebelled at being replaced by Rosie Huntington-whiteley as the new face of Burberry but it seems we were wrong, with the gossip grapevine now claiming that the Harry Potter starlet is in the running to play the lead in Hollywood’s anticipated adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and this is why she had chopped her locks off.

The star has reportedly been screen tested for the biggest vacant role in Hollywood with sources telling The Sun: “Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part.”

“The character of Lisbeth is a misfit goth-type girl with spikey hair.”

However, Emma is just one of the starlets running for this part with Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart all said to be wanting to be the next dragon tattoo lady.
