Gallery: Celebrities mark the closing of Marina Abramovic’s ‘The Artist is Present’ show at MOMA in New York.

By Andrea Petrou on June 2nd, 2010

It was another night of celebrity style as A-listers stepped out to mark the closing of Marina Abramovic’s ‘The Artist is Present’ show at MOMA in New York.

But it was Courtney Love who really stole the fashion limelight at the event hosted by Givenchy. The troubled star turned up looking young and glamorous in a sheer dress by the designer.

Other noted celebrities included Christina Ricci and Liv Tyler who channelled the designer’s latest collection, while Maricarla Boscono took the fashion trend to the next level turning up in a sheer bra top. Bjork also lit up the evening in a gold shiny dress, which wouldn’t have looked out of place on Lady Gaga, while Joan Smalls carried on the sheer look with a white, very seethrough frock.

See our gallery for all the celebrity fashion of the night.

First looks! Lara Stone’s wedding dress

By Andrea Petrou on May 25th, 2010

lARA STONE White wedding.jpg

Last week we told you Lara Stone had wed David Walliams in an alcohol free ceremony at Claridges hotel. However we were only able to get you snaps of the gold sequined Givenchy frock she changed into for the reception.

But that’s all changed now because we’ve managed to get a full length photo of her original, and wedding gorgeous dress she wore at the ceremony. Designed by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci the rumoured £30,000 dress was simple, elegant and gave a slight nod to the medeival look with gold edged chain sleeves and gold detailing on the daring lace thigh high spilt.

We have to admit the model looks stunning. Click over to our sister site Bridalwave later on today where we’ll be giving you a Lara Stone get the look gallery.

Lara Stone and David Walliams get wed!

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2010
David Walliams and Lara Stone pose for photographs outside of the Claridges Hotel after getting married

A big congrats to Lara Stone and now hubby David Walliams who tied the knot this weekend.

After a whirlwind romance the pair hurried down the aisle and into a reception at Clarigdes hotel yesterday.

Although we have yet to see the frock Lara wore for the ceremony, rumour has it and as we told you a while back, the bride wore a custom made cream lace corset dress, edged with golden chain by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci.

However, the £30,000 dress didn’t stay on for too long as Lara decided to change into a mini-frock covered in gold and silver sequins, which was also by Riccardo Tisci for the reception.

We think she and her groom look stunning.

Stay tuned for a gallery of guests.

Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring 09: Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci

By Andrea Thatcher on January 28th, 2009

Catwalk Queen‘s Gemma Cartwright writes…

Riccardo Tisci’s modern, conceptual vision for Givenchy is a million miles from what Hubert de Givenchy may have created in the fifites, but at the heart of his couture collection, there’s the same attention to detail, quality of cut and shape and love of the female form. Tisci’s trademarks were all there: grown up gothic touches on black gowns, space-age shoulders on suits and dresses, swirled seams and elegant drapes on everything else. But the collection was softer than what we saw from him in his most recent Ready to wear show. The colour palette was washed-out and pastel, punctuated only by yellow, black and a lilac-on-black floral print. Most exciting were the shorter dresses with one-shoulder capes, puffy chiffon trims and textured fabric mixes. Meanwhile, a black long-sleeved gown with a deep V and wide embellished shoulders is crying out for an Oscar night debut…

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2009: Givenchy

By Andrea Thatcher on October 2nd, 2008

Catwalk Queen’s Gemma Cartwright writes…

Is Riccardo Tisci in cahoots with Christophe Decarnin? The edgy Givenchy show at Paris Fashion Week had a lot in common with the headline grabbing Balmain show from earlier this week. It’s a far cry from Julien Macdonald’s romantic tenure at the label, and harks back more to what we saw from Alexander McQueen while he was at the helm. Sharp cuts, interesting textures and a ‘western bondage’ theme saw models in jewelled body-con dresses, skintight trousers, textured lemon and beige mini dresses and leather bondage tops. Marc chooses models – Stella Tennant and Kirsten Owen – for fall 2008 campaign

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on June 9th, 2008

Stella Tennant Kirsten Owen.jpg

Looks like the Marc Jacobs ad campaign star will be one role that’s not recurring for Victoria Beckham (unlike her Ugly Betty gig, which she will reprise).

Marc has chosen to fuel the comeback of the 90s supermodel by hiring Stella Tennant and Kirsten Owen for his fall 2008 advertising.

Yay or Nay Wednesday: Givenchy jellies?

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on April 23rd, 2008

Givenchy jellies copy.jpg

Do our eyes deceive? Givenchy is making jelly shoes?

It’s true. The Givenchy jelly gladiator, $165, comes in pink and black with adjustable ankle straps.

What do you think? Nostalgic throwback great for the beach, or sweaty sandal that should stay in the sandbox? Yay or Nay?

Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2008: Givenchy

By Andrea Thatcher on January 24th, 2008

Givenchy%20collage.jpg (Click image to enlarge.)

Inspired by Degas’ La Petite Danseuse de 14 Ans, Riccardo Tisci sought to combine elements of hard and soft in his spring/summer 2008 Haute Couture collection. There seemed to be an ideal mix – some looks that were clearly more structured and linear, some that were more romantic, and some that combined elements of both. The pants were skinny and the skirts were skate, with an understated sophistication we love to see from a venerable house like Givenchy. More images after the jump.
