Every year, around this time, we begin to see a pattern in celebrity red carpet dress choices.
The Golden Globes are over for another year, the SAG awards are over and the Oscars are heating up.
This awards season one trend has really made a stand and that’s the white dress.
However, unlike last seasons, this frock has been transformed from the white wedding ball style gown into a sleek straight number seen on the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Kelly Osbourne and hundreds more A-listers.
Some give a nod to the sixties with short hems and lace, while others are more seventies with billowing sleeves and sparkles. We can’t wait to see what other trends emerge on the red carpet later on this year.
See the gallery below for our top five ladies in white on the red carpet.
Yesterday it was all about the fab frocks at the Golden Globe awards, but today we’ve decided to focus on something equally important and that’s of course hair and make-up.
Trending at this year’s awards was the bronzed face and smokey eyed look channelled by Reese Witherspoon – who completed the look with luscious waves- and Lea Michelle who decided to finish the look with an up-do.
Also following this trend was Nicole Richie who bought the look bang into this season with a high ponytail. However, there were other trends also spotted when it came to beauty.
Angelina Jolie and Claire Danes emulated classic Hollywood chic with pale foundation and statement red lips, while Zooey Deschanel went all 60s with a blunt fringe and heavy eyeliner.
See all the Golden Globe 2012 beauty in the gallery below.
We’ve got lots of galleries lined up for you and as soon as we get the pics we’ll be bringing you all the red carpet dresses from the Glee girls, Angelina Jolie, Helena Bonham Carter and lots more.
However, while we eagerly await the pics we thought we’d focus on the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson, who like many stars this year looked hot hot hot. The starlet opted for an on-trend nude embellished frock by Elie Saab complete with sheer sleeves – another hot red carpet trend this year – and a short train.
Where’s there’s good, there’s always bad, and that was no different at last nights Golden Globe awards. While many celebrities shone on the red carpet others didn’t, namely Lindsay Lohan.
The unsuccessful Ungaro Creative director showed us once again why she should steer away from a sketch pad when she turned up to the awards after party (as our readers have pointed out) in what can only be described as a sparkled hoodie frock by Brian Lichtenberg .
However, while it was Lindsay’s choice to turn up in a bad frock, spare a thought for Chloe Sevigny. While on the way to collect her award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (for her part in Big Love), her Valentino dress was ripped as a result of the usher who had escorted her up the steps treading on it.
However we think she handled it quite well. View the video below and let us know what you think.
One thing’s for sure, black wasn’t boring on the red carpet at tonight’s Golden Globe Awards. These three ladies stunned, shimmered and sparkled in dark, dramatic gowns. Evan Rachel Wood chose a different, tiered silhouette shot through with silver sequins and accessorized by her charming tattoo. Anne Hathaway wore a navy blue Armani Prive gown and simple earrings for a very classic, very old school Anne look. We knew Amy Adams (seen here with Darren Le Gallo) would be one of our favorites when we first saw her in the strapless Oscar de la Renta applique gown.
Reem Acra dressed a bevy of ladies on the red carpet of the Golden Globe awards, including Olivia Wilde (House), Rumer Willis (Miss Golden Globe) and Eva Longoria, above. Wilde’s and Willis’ dresses are a bit similar, the same purple color family even. But Eva Longoria really stands out in a more structural red gown.
While we wait for pictures from the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards to pour in (and pour they will!) we’re going to keep you company liveblogging who is wearing what.
Jenna Fischer (The Office) – Zuhair Murad dress, Chopard bracelet Jennifer Morrison (House) – Oscar de la Renta dress, Lorraine Schwartz custom earrings Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) – J. Mendel dress, H. Stern jewels, Stuart Weitzman shoes Eva Longoria – Reem Acra Susan Sarandon – Hugo Boss tuxedo, Fred Leighton jewelry, Stuart Weitzman shoes Amy Adams – Oscar de la Renta, Lorraine Schwartz earrings
We’re not really sure it was worth listening to Billy Bush and Nancy O’Dell to hear about the Golden Globe winners live, so if you’ve waited until Monday morning to check out the highlights, good job.
Here we show Cate at the American Film Institute awards in December. We love the dress but find the length a little awkward. One of Keira’s 2007 style high points was the L.A. premiere of Atonement in an ethereal Rodarte dress.
Seeing Reese’s smiling face and sunny dress at last year’s Golden Globes makes us so sad that there will be no such fabulous fashion moments this year. There’s still hope of televised coverage of various Golden Globe parties, and at least pictures of them, but it’s just not the same.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been trying to come up with a solution that would appease the Writer’s Guild so that they would not picket the ceremony but have so far been unsuccessful. While no statement has been made on the Golden Globes Web site at press time beyond saying a decision would be made today, the internet is buzzing with the cancellation.
It will be really disapointing if the entire awards show season goes the way of the globes. Good thing we’ve got fashion week in February to perk us up.
The Golden Globe nominations are out, and some of our favorite fashionistas – plus a few newcomers – have made the list. But who will make the really important list: the best dressed list? With American Gangster, Atonement, Eastern Promises, The Great Debaters, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood nominated for best motion picture drama, and Across the Universe, Charlie Wilson’s War, Hairspray, Juno and Sweeney Todd up for musical/comedy, we can count on some of our favorite stars making the red carpet their runway for the night. Read on to see what we’re hoping for as well as a picture of Hayden Panettiere at the nominations.
