Amanda Seyfried doesn’t wash her hair very often

By Andrea Petrou on December 14th, 2011

Amanda Seyfried doesn’t like to wash her hair often.

The Mamma Mia! actress says the secret to her luscious blonde locks is not over-styling them and will only use shampoo and conditioner every three days.

She said: “Don’t wash it! I wash my hair every three days which is something I would’ve never imagined years ago, but I also use dry shampoo and my hair is even healthier.”

Amanda also revealed how she takes good care of her skin and tries to protect herself from the sun as much as possible.

She told Stylelist: “I’m really scared of the sun. During the day, I use the Gentle Protective Emulsion moisturiser with SPF. And I don’t go to bed without putting on La Creme. It smells really good and when I wake up, I know my face is going to feel really good.”

Amanda recently revealed she is becoming more aware with how she’s ageing, saying: “Living in a society where there’s so much attention given to age-defying products, I’m really aware of how my face is changing, even at my age.”

Dita Von Teese thinks she has a classic look

By Andrea Petrou on November 16th, 2011

Dita Von Teese thinks her look will “work at any age”.

The 39-year-old burlesque model explained she had an “epiphany” at a recent shoot, and discovered she can still maintain her “classy” style when she gets older, as her hair, make-up and clothing choices have become like a “uniform” to her.

She said: “I was doing a photo shoot and the make-up artist had made me up to have grey hair but I was still wearing the same clothes and had the same make-up. I was scanning me in the mirror and I just had this epiphany that I was perfect – I looked like a classy, old lady.

“I won’t have to change my look when I get older, it’ll work at any age. I’m not sure what Paris Hilton will be wearing when she gets to 70.

“My look is like a uniform to me, I know each morning what I’ll be doing with my make-up and hair, how long my hem line will be. I like to evolve my look, but I don’t feel compelled to update it.”

However, the raven-haired beauty – who has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood in the past – admitted she isn’t naturally blessed with a trim figure and “works hard” to look so glamorous.

Dita added in an interview with Vogue.co.uk: “I don’t try to tell people I’m naturally anything, I’m not going to tell you that I eat pizza all day and look like this – I don’t.

“I work hard to maintain a glamorous look, and to tell women that they can achieve it too. We all want to have a plump, juicy and luscious figures – I just try hard to stay fit.”

X Factor judge Kelly Rowland loves wigs

By Andrea Petrou on October 13th, 2011

Kelly Rowland is “in love” with wigs.

The When Love Takes Over hitmaker gets her hair-pieces custom-made and has learned over the years the styles that suit her best.

She said: “I’m in love with wigs. I get them custom-made and I have my hairstylist shape them to my head. I can go from long to short in less than a minute.

“I tried a blonde wig once and I looked like I should have been wearing a tacky dress with my legs out. I looked crazy. Even a too-light brown hair colour doesn’t work for me because it becomes the same colour as my face.”

The 30-year-old beauty also admitted she would love to shave her head one day.

She told Essence magazine: One day I’d like to cut off all my hair – really close – shaven to my head. It’s such a really beautiful look.”

Kelly rarely uses hair straighteners any more after her frequent use meant she previously burned parts of her hair off.

She said: “I never want to apply heat every day. I did that before, and lost all my edges.”

Katy Perry wants a Pixie hairstyle but not for too long

By Andrea Petrou on October 6th, 2011

Katy Perry would love to try a pixie haircut but only for a short time.

The 26-year-old beauty sports a short crop in her new campaign for the ghd Scarlet Collection and although Katy loves experimenting with her hair, she admitted the look is slightly too “bold” for her to maintain for very long.

She said: “The Snow White look is very different for me because it is a very short bob, but we were inspired by the Art Deco era – a bit flapper-y, a bit 1940′s. The furniture is very Art Deco. I love my nails in it, and my bob that has little curls coming around it.

“I think it’s a bold look for me, especially for the short hair, but I’ve actually had a pixie cut before. I used to have a black pixie cut when I was about 17-18-19 so I felt I was reliving that part of my life again. It’s really cute. I’d probably wear this look again, but I probably wouldn’t do it for long.”

The ghd Scarlet Collection includes a gorgeous heat resistant red satin styler roll bag, perfectly encasing the limited edition red plated stylers, along with two sectioning clips and protective plate guard.

Katy often experiments with different looks – recently dying her locks pink – but the brunette star misses her

natural blonde hair and would love to try “a long, hippie-esque blonde look with black roots”.

She said: “I might like trying being a blonde – a long, hippie-esque blonde with black roots. We’ll see.”

Cheryl Cole’s beach hair advice

By Andrea Petrou on June 9th, 2011

Cheryl Cole puts her hair in a high ponytail to look taller on the beach.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer – who stands at 5ft 3in – likes to appear as statuesque as possible when she hits the beach but as she won’t wear heels, she finds other ways.

She said: “Give yourself some height – without heels – by pulling your hair into a really high sleek ponytail.”

While she’ll put her hair up for the beach, Cheryl recently revealed she feels “close to heaven” when she has big hair.

The ousted US ‘X Factor’ judge – who has been sensationally dropped from the pop star search show – caused a stir with her bouffant locks at the first auditions last month but despite criticism for her look, the British beauty insisted she was pleased with her appearance on the day.

She said: “I love that style. I felt really glamorous with it.

“The bigger the better I always say – the higher the hair, the closer to heaven. I can do it myself after all these years of practice.”

Angelina Jolie rarely brushes her hair

By Andrea Petrou on June 6th, 2011

Angelina Jolie rarely brushes her hair.

The ‘Kung Fu Panda 2′ actress – who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt – is regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world, but insists she keeps her efforts to look good to a minimum.

She said: “I my life, I hardly brush my hair very often.

“I try to be as low-maintenance as possible because of my kids, so I can just get up and get ready and do things and not take too much time.”

In keeping her with her no-fuss beauty regime, it was previously claimed that Angelina keeps her lips in good condition by using Shea Terra’s Menthe Orange Organic Shea Lip Butter, which costs just $4.

The lip balm boasts a variety of unusual products including raw golden beeswax from Uganda, virgin coconut cream oil, African potato, Namibian tsamma melon seed oil, rooibos, chamomile flowers and wild Namibian plum oil.

A source previously said: “Angelina stockpiles the lip butter to preserve her to-die-for pout. She likes it because it also helps to freshen your breath and Angelina hates chewing gum.”

Cheryl Cole would look good whatever her hairstyle says Vidal Sassoon

By Andrea Petrou on May 19th, 2011

Cheryl Cole would look good whatever her hairstyle, according to Vidal Sassoon.

The legendary hairdresser is a huge fan of the new US ‘X Factor’ judge’s look – who received criticism for her new bouffant hair do on the first day of auditions – and while he thinks her general style is beautiful, he wishes she would experiment a bit more.

Speaking on radio station Magic 105.4, he said: “The hairdresser knew what he was doing coz he made a shape that worked for her but with a face like this you can have any kind of cut and I just think this is too much with this long hanging hair.”

Along with Cheryl, the 83-year-old crimper – who is known for creating some of the most iconic styles of the 60s – revealed he loves Lady Gaga because she is willing try anything and has “no shame”.

He explained: You get individuals that have no shame. Nothing is out of the question. She has no shame at all and it’s wonderful.”

Although he is 83 and has no plans to slow down, Vidal admitted he has thought about how he would like to be remembered.

He said: “”You’ve got to be a [fitness fanatic] at 83, if you’re not half fit your dead but I would like to be remembered as the man who gave other hairdressers the chance to prove themselves.”

Frankie Sandford wants to grow her hair

By Andrea Petrou on May 3rd, 2011

Frankie Sandford wants to grow her hair.

The Saturdays singer’s stylist is tired of people asking for the same short crop as his famous client, so the pair are now preparing to work on a new look for the brunette beauty.

Asked if she wants long hair again, Frankie said: “Yeah. My hair stylist Nick says he’s cut this short hairstyle on too many people now.

“He’s like, ‘We need to change your hair, everyone’s got it.’ ”

Frankie also admitted she is not happy with her figure, as she doesn’t think her curves are in proportion.

She explained to more! magazine: “I’m self-conscious of my bottom half. I know I’m not large but it’s something I think about. And I’d quite like bigger breasts.

“I feel quite bottom heavy.”

However, the ‘Up’ hitmaker loves showing off her toned back in skimpy outfits.

She said: “I like my back. I love a strapless dress. That bit of me stays slim and toned.”

Kate Middleton’s wedding hair will be styled by London-based hairdresser James Pryce

By Andrea Petrou on April 11th, 2011

Kate Middleton’s wedding hair will be styled by London-based hairdresser James Pryce.

The 33-year-old stylist works for the Richard Ward salon in Chelsea and he will work on her brunette locks on the morning of her wedding to Prince William on April 29.

His boss Richard will style the hair of both Kate’s mother Carole and sister Pippa, who is the maid of honour.

It is expected James – who currently charges £50 for a styling session – will be able to charge higher prices as a result of the job.

A source said: “After the wedding, I expect it will be extremely difficult to get an appointment with James – and that his prices will go up.”

However he will be helped by a team of “dressers” on the morning of the wedding, with preparation taking place at the Goring Hotel in Belgravia close to Buckingham Palace.

Although it is not known who will be dressing the bride at her wedding, it is thought British designer Alice Temperley will create the outfits for her bridesmaids, with Pippa seen at her West London studio for three hours earlier this month.

Lady Gaga is losing her hair

By Andrea Petrou on March 22nd, 2011

Lady Gaga is losing her hair.

The 24-year-old singer – who is well known for her ever-changing hairstyles, including a wool-like up do and a waist-length blonde wig – admitted she is worried about her locks because of the amount she has dyed them.

She told People: “[I had to] get a chemical haircut because my blonde hair is falling out.”

The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker, who is naturally a brunette, also confesses she sleeps in her make-up every day of the week.

Asked how often she goes to bed with her face full of make-up, Gaga said: “Seven. That’s not good for your skin, but I’m blessed with good genes.”

However, she admits she no longer uses mascara and fake eyelashes because she thinks they are both old fashioned.

She said: “I think it’s more modern not to wear either. I just wear eyeliner.”

Last week it was revealed Lady Gaga would receive a style award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

The eccentric star will pick up the Fashion Icon award on June 6.
