Naomi Campbell to be honoured for her charity work

By emilyborrett on September 15th, 2011

The supermodel Naomi Campbell is set to be honoured at the Angel Ball in October for her charity work.

Naomi may be a bona-fide diva but she’s certainly got a soft side, as she’s been working tirelessly for various charities for a while now, hosting a Fashion For Relief fundraiser after the earthquakes in Japan and raising huge amounts of money for AIDs relief and Haiti. She’s actually raised $7million in total – wow.

Denise Rich, who is the founder of the charity which will honour Naomi in New York next month, said about the supermodel: “She really is amazing woman and she does a lot for charity. She has her own charity. She raised a lot of money this summer for Haiti and for AIDS relief.”

The model certainly does know to fundraise in style, with her latest Fashion  For Relief party including performances from rapper queen Eve and Patti LaBelle, even encouraging Jane Fonda to take a turn showing her stuff on the catwalk. Who says fashion doesn’t care?

Congrats to you, Naomi, you completely deserve it.

Naomi Campbell creates a line of tees for her Neon Charity

By Andrea Petrou on May 24th, 2010

Naomi Campbell hasn’t had an easy time over the past few months. She was thrust into the media spotlight a few months back when a New York driver accused her of hitting him and last week UN war crimes prosecutors in The Hague called for the British supermodel to testify over claims that she was given “blood diamonds” by Liberia’s former president Charles Taylor.

However, it seems she’s trying to redeem herself. Hot off her Fashion for Relief events, which aimed to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake, the model is jumping into another charity venture.

She’s teamed up with Moscow-based couture house Chapurin to create a line of T-shirts benefiting Neon, the not-for-profit organisation she founded in April.

According to WWD the model wants to raise at least $1 million for two Russian charities – the Iris Foundation and Northern Crow, which provide education, training and medicine for underprivileged children – and she thinks these designs will go someway to help do this.

Well it’s a very good start Naomi.

Cannes Day 9: Get the look- Penelope Cruz’s red dress

By Andrea Petrou on May 20th, 2010

Penelope Cruz Cannes Auction.jpg

Penelope Cruz stepped out during day 9 of the Canne’s film festival to host an auction in aid of the Jenkins-Penn Haitian relief organisation.

The spanish actress stepped out in a gorgeous red wrap dress and silver shoes to mark the occasion, which aims to raise funds by auctioning off star’s dresses. And one celeb that really came up trump is Salma Hayek who donated the first ever Gucci Couture dress, which she wore to day one of the Cannes film festival.

However, we feel we’ve spoken enough about Salma so we decided to have a trawl around to see if we could find a frock similar to Pen’s at of course, a highstreet price. And we did. Now it’s not exactly the same, but the neckline and length are almost identical to Ms Cruz’s. It’s from Very and we think it’s a steal at £59.

Team it up with flats for a day in the office or with heels and accessories for a night out.

Scarlett Johansson designs a bag for Mango to help victims of the Haiti earthquake

By Andrea Petrou on February 3rd, 2010

We’re more than used to hearing about celebrities designing clothes and accessories for different stores, but we get really excited when they’re doing it for charity.

Stepping in to this category is Scarlett Johansson who has designed a bag for Mango and all profits raised will go directly to Oxfam to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Of her collaboration with the store she currently models for, Scarlett said: ‘I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Mango to promote conscious consumerism and to benefit Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. By purchasing this bag, you are helping to provide life saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti.’

The bag, which will be sold in Mango stores for £16.90, has the message ‘Helping the people of Haiti’, plus the actress’s signature beside a print depicting an ancient map of the country.

We’ll be bagging ourselves one of these as soon as they hit the shelves in March.
