Sarah Jessica Parker and Halston have reportedly ended their working relationship.
The ‘Sex and the City’ actress was the president of the iconic label until recently and although no formal announcement has been made by either party, the split was alluded to in a recent interview the star completed with US Vogue.
A line in the interview reads: “When ‘Sex and the City’, to her own surprise, made her a fashion star, she launched her own design label and perfumes, as well assigning on to run the Halston Heritage label, a relationship that recently came to an end.”
Last November it was revealed Sarah Jessica was not been pleased the CEO of Halston Bonnie Takhar had been forced to step down.
A source said: “Sarah has been a strong supporter of Bonnie for a very long time, and has been the sole voice supporting her against the board and shareholders.
“She has been fighting this for a very long time. She believed in Bonnie. She was emotional and upset because this finally came to a head.”

Sarah Jessica Parker has been signed up to help design Halston’s Heritage range.
According to WWD The Sex and The City actress will be the brand’s creative director where she will not only oversee the creative side of things, but also have a share of the profits.
We’re not overly familiar with the brand here at ShinyStyle and we think that’s because since it’s relaunch in 2008, many celebrities and magazines have overlooked it. However, Sarah Jessica Parker is already doing her bit to get Halston’s name out there.
She recently wore a £70 little white dress from the fashion house in the advertising posters for Sex and the City 2.
We can’t wait to see what this brand comes up with in 2010, and we’re pretty sure with SJP leading the way, we won’t see any of the disasters Lindsay Lohan demonstrated in her role as Creative Director for Ungaro.

Blogged by Catwalk Queen…
It is official! After months of swirling rumours, our own Marios Schwab has landed the gig of creative director at Halston. He replaces Marco Zanini, who left after just two seasons.
Confirmed via WWD early this morning, he will take over the label from July 1. Despite its recent troubles following its revival in 2007, the brand will also shortly launch the Halston Heritage collection, featuring reproductions of archival Halston pieces (see below the cut).
Schwab caught the eye of CEO Bonnie Takhar during his spring ’09 show in London. “He used a lot of jersey in the collection in a very modern way. The silhouettes were also very fluid, and we thought they had a very modern Halston interpretation,” she said.

Catwalk Queen‘s Kimberley Foster writes…
Halston decided early on, before the economy went bottoms up, that it would forfeit a runway show at New York Fashion Week for a video presentation instead. Later today the full video will be sent via email showcasing Halston’s A/W 2009-10 line, which will shortly be followed by a look book and an invitation to see the collection at their showroom. But for now, you can check out this sneak peek of the video starring model Dree Hemingway running through the streets of New York. Click play to watch above.

The revived Halston label is enjoying nothing but infamy at the moment. With the likes of Harvey Weinstein, Rachel Zoe and Tamara Mellon turning the cogs in the background, you’d expect the label to be delivering something very special. But following the departure of designer Marco Zanini (and the fact Zoe doesn’t seem to care any more) the future seems uncertain despite the fact previous collections sold well. This Fashion Week, instead of a traditional runway show, models lounged around in pieces that harked back to the Halston heydays of the 1970s. The flowing maxi dresses were definitely pretty, but I can’t help thinking there was nothing that couldn’t be found in vintage shops for a lot less money…CLICK THE IMAGE TO VIEW THE GALLERY and decide for yourself.

The Halston runway items available on Net-a-Porter after the much-hyped show sold out in just 45 minutes after going live. It seems that eager customers couldn’t be deterred from getting their hands on two key dresses, despite what many, including our UK blogging buddies at Catwalk Queen, believed to be a rather lacklustre comeback collection. Around 25,000 shoppers logged onto the website to view the collection and other exclusive tidbits from the show. CQ bets some of those are headed for Ebay.

Tomorrow the madness of New York Fashion Week begins, but before we disappear into the tents of Bryant Park we wanted to take a moment to focus on what’s expected to come down the runway. We spoke with Claire Hamilton from fashion trend forcasting company World Global Style Network’s (WGSN).
