Pop-up fashion at its’ best: Hermes set to hit Spitalfields Market

By Andrea Petrou on November 2nd, 2010

By Emily Borrett.

Happy news, Londoners! Iconic Parisian fashion brand Hermès are going to be setting up a pop-up shop in Spitalfields Market, East London, for one precious week only from the 17th to the 25th November.

It’s just one of the biggest names to get in on pop-up stores; all over Britain there have been dream boutiques springing up everywhere for a few days, and then disappearing again as unexpectedly as they came. We guarantee that this will be one that you don’t want to miss.

The brand’s bags are loved by celebrities worldwide, with big names such as Victoria Beckham, Courtney Love and Nicole Richie all showing their love for their leathery arm-candy. So even if you can’t afford to buy a bag, you might spot some celebs..

Paris Fashion Week highlights: Hermes

By Andrea Petrou on October 7th, 2010

The Paris Fashion Week whirlwind came to an end last night, with fatigued fashionistas giving out their final air kisses before packing their designer bags and heading back home.

However, that was  after they had watched the last PFW show, which was of course Hermes. Not only did this close the event but also marked the end of Jean Paul Gaultier’s seven year designer stint at the house.

And what a finale it was. JPG gave us a stunning collection with a strong nod at the equestrian theme and the brand’s leather saddle making past by marching horses up the catwalk.

Leather made an appearance in tailored jackets, trousers and of course trousers. As you would expect with such a theme there were also jodhpurs and, quite originally jumpsuits, which were wound into the theme thanks to suede patches.

There were waistcoats and thick leather corsets as well as chiffon dresses for the evening.

It’s a show we’ll definitely remember..until next season at least.

Hermes launches website dedicated to scarves

By admin on August 11th, 2010

Scarves have been hot this season, and they’ll be hanging around into next season too, which is great news considering how easy it is to accessorise plain outfits with these.

And it seems Hermes agrees with our fetish for these. The designer fashion brand, which is more known for luxury items, has teamed up with funky French store Colette to launch a website called J’aime Mon Carre, which translates as “I Love My Scarf.”

However, unlike it’s traditional brand style, the site has gone all modern on us featuring colourful pictures of hip and cool girls sporting the scarves on the street and giving us ideas on how to wear them. This includes as turbans, headbands, belts and, obviously as scarves.

$22,000 Burberry alligator skin “Warrior” bag

By Andrea Thatcher on January 9th, 2008

aligatorbag.jpg
2007 was definitely the year that the prices of it-bags got out of control but could 2008 be the year of the $100,000 bag? As the majority of sane people continue to be appalled by the average cost of a designer it-bag Burberry release an extreme priced bag. Made of alligator skin with metal stud detailing the new ‘Warrior’ tote comes in at a ridiculous $22,000.

As Linda Grant at the Guardian rightly points out, the most worrying thing about this is that it’s not the most expensive bag available. You can get a Hermés alligator tote for $55,000 (£28,000)! Seems that alligator is the way to go for ridiculously expensive glamour! How much higher can the prices really go?

Lindsay Lohan’s casual look

By Andrea Thatcher on December 17th, 2007

Lindsay%20Lohan.jpg

Catwalk Queen is loving Lindsay Lohan’s look out shopping at Hermes. Laura says that since we’re always quick to jump in and criticise celebrity clothing choices (it’s true) it’s equally as important to give “snaps” when it works out well. While she forgives the hat for bad hair day reasons, it’s really the rest of the ensemble she’s impressed with – especially the smart, classic Chanel jacket over the casual top and leggings.

Hermes vintage-style scarves: why knot?

By Elaine LaPersonerie on October 3rd, 2007

I love Hermes’ collection of vintage-style scarves. Styles start at about $250 and include cashmere, silk and twill prints. They pair well with some dark denim and a cream-colored light sweater or long-sleeve tee. Also wear them around your head on bad hair days! Scarves are an easy, fun accessory that can help make an important statement. Just knot and go!

Pierre Hardy shoes soon available at Gap

By Elaine LaPersonerie on September 6th, 2007

12.jpg
Pierre Hardy, a leading footwear designer who once designed for Christion Dior, Hermes and Balenciaga will be launching a men’s and women’s collection for Gap debuting in spring ’08. A smaller collection will be available first at Gap locations throughout Europe and England before a full collection hits US streets later in the year. In 1999, Hardy launched his own collection and can since be found available on retail shelves in over 20 different countries. Based on his most recent collection, it looks like Gap footwear just might be getting a bit more progressive.
