Christmas party outfits: Top five bodycon dresses

By Andrea Petrou on December 15th, 2011

If you want to make an entrance at that New Year’s Eve or Christmas party then look no further than the bodycon frock.

Inspired by Herve Leger’s bandage dress, this style is as versatile as they come and the highstreet is covered in a range of different styles.

Go for this year’s panelled look or keep it festive with a red or green hue. Add some lace for a gothic feel or stick to a simple black dress in this style for a classic yet modern look.

Those feeling extra Christmassy can also opt for sequins ensuring they sparkle at this year’s parties.

Herve Leger says todays models are uninspiring

By Andrea Petrou on March 28th, 2011

Herve Leger says he could no longer show his collections at Fashion Week because he finds today’s models uninspiring.

The designer – who used the likes of Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista in his high-profile presentations during the 90s – says the current crop of beauties aren’t in the same league and wouldn’t do his clothes justice.

He told the Daily of Lagerfeld: “If I had to go back to catwalk presentations I would be in a panic…Already the models I find are too skinny, too sad. And I knew the age of the super top models, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford, who were always lively and smiling. Today you go between several defiles and you will see the exact same type of girl – it just doesn’t inspire me. Of course I do presentations, I do three presentations a year: spring, fall and cruise, that I show at my showroom and what I like is to have the buyers come to me. They buy, things sell well, and that really gives me the feeling of existing for something because I know that somewhere out there in the world I have clients that adore what I’m doing and that’s really reward enough.”

While he’s not impressed with today’s models, Herve is a big fan of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld because he’s so inspiring to work with.

He said: “He is a genius! He is someone very wonderful. I started my career as a hair stylist, then hat maker, and then I met Karl and it was a shock. There is nobody like him. I had the chance to work very closely with him at Fendi and Chanel, and he gives everything. You just have to look at him work. We learn a lot with him…he is good at everything, it’s a spirit and a vision of things, and he is very, very modern.”

Is Victoria Beckham designing Beyonce’s next tour outfits?

By Andrea Petrou on April 30th, 2010

Victoria Beckham
Psst…Could Victoria Beckham be designing a range for Beyonce? If the rumour mill is anything to go by then the answer is yes.

According to The Mirror Posh has been enlisted by the superstar to create outfits for her next tour. However, instead of the outrageous designs she usually wears, she’s apparently asked for full length and elegant.

If this is true then Posh should be extremely proud. Beyonce is known for her stunning show outfits and in the past has used high profile designers such as Herve Leger, Versace and Armani. And with this in mind it’s clear Vicks is really making a name for herself in the fashion industry.

Hervé Léger opens UK store

By Andrea Petrou on September 7th, 2009

Herve.jpgIf you love Posh’s, Lindsay Lohans and Diane Kruger’s red carpet, figure hugging dress style then you’ll be pleased to know, you will soon be able to get your hands on something similar.

The starlets are all known for wearing Hervé Léger, a designer whose creations became well known in the 80s.

Over the past year the designs have made a huge come back onto the celebrity circuit and they will now be making an entrance into our wardrobes at home.

Why? Because the designer is opening up a UK store in Knightsbridge on the 17 September.

The store will have two levels, plus a VIP area. I think this is fantastic news, and definitely a worthy excuse to join up to the gym to get into one of these gorgeous figure hugging dresses.

Miley Cyrus and Max Azria coming to a Wal-Mart near you!

By Kimberley Foster on June 3rd, 2009

Miley Cyrus.jpgUh-huh it’s true… Miley Cyrus and Max Azria have inked a deal with Wal-Mart to create a line for juniors. Can you just hear the dollar signs ringing already?

The range is to be called “Miley Cyrus and Max Azria” (some originality maybe?) and will include tops, pants, graphic T-shirts and shoes, starting from $20. It will go on sale at Wal-Mart outlets and via Walmart.com from August this year.

I guess we should have known something was up when Miley starting wearing grown-up wear by Azria. For example, that sparkly minidress Hervé Léger dress she wore to the London premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie. Look out Olsens!

New York Fashion Week: Herve Leger Fall 2009 – Video

By Gemma on February 16th, 2009

How do you update the bandage dress season after season? That’s the challenge Max Azria and his wife face with Hervé Léger. So long as celebs want to strut their stuff in the tiny body-con numbers, they won’t be changing much, though this season the Azrias did add a bit of change with some a-line skirts, intricate strapwork and even more embellishment than ever before. This is not life-changing, artsy fashion. This is stuff that will fly off the racks as the starlet clamor to wear it on the red carpet. They should probably pick more sensible shoes though. Watch the video for NY’s first model tumble…

New York Fashion Week Spring 2009: Herve Leger

By Andrea Thatcher on September 7th, 2008

Herve Leger collage 2 09.jpg

I have to say it. More bandage dresses? Are you serious? Yes, the Herve Leger collection was beautiful. And yes, the dresses had a new look, assymetical lines and some new cutouts and details. And they still look beautiful. But do we really need more of them? They’ve been all over, from the red carpet to the sidewalk, on every celebrity. I had a difficult time seeing past their continued presence to think about the rest of the collection. But I’ll do my best.

Celebrity Fave: Herve Leger bandage dresses

By Andrea Thatcher on April 9th, 2008

From our U.K. fashion blog, Catwalk Queen:

herve79058639.jpg

Herve Leger (by Max Azaria) is the brand of the season, thank in large part to their body conscious bandage dresses that have hugged the fit bodies of Lindsay Lohan, Kate Beckinsale, Gisele Bundchen, Sophia Bush, Victoria Beckham, Kate Bosworth, Sarah Michelle Gellar and many many more. Their sophisticated cut and perfect fit have made them the dresses of choice when you want to show off your figure without wearing something that is too revealing.

New York Fashion Week: Max Azria Part 1: runway review

By Isabelle OCarroll on February 5th, 2008

maxazria081.jpg
In contrast to his comparatively girly show for Hervé Leger Max Azria’s A/W 08 show was a more mature affair. The palette was a slighty drab but earthy mix of midnight blues, mustards, greys and beiges and worked really well with the clothes. The froth of the Leger show was replaced by sheer tailoring and folded detailing on necklines and strict looking corset belts. Suspenders and stocking tops showed through sheer skirts but were tempered by demure top halves. My favourite detail from the show was the black ankle boots with grey gaiter-like tops (above right).

New York Fashion Week: Herve Leger by Max Azria

By Andrea Thatcher on February 4th, 2008

Herve%20Leger%201.jpg

That’s right, the bandage dress is officially back…

One of the most highly anticipated shows of this season took place yesterday, thanks to Max Azria who relaunched Hervé Leger at New York Fashion Week. Our U.K. sister-site Catwalk Queen is helping with our FW coverage, and say Azria couldn’t have taken over the label at a better time with the recent revival of the body-con trend, which Hervé Leger made famous in the late ’80s to early ’90s. The iconic bandage dress was resurrected and updated with one-shoulder necklines and ribbon appliqué. Evening style versions featured floor-sweeping satin and feathers, adding an entirely new element. Overall, it was a welcome return for the label and a fitting tribute to the “king of cling”.

More images after the jump…

New York Fashion Week: Celebs at Herve Leger – Joss Stone, Padma Lakshmi, and Rose McGowan

By Andrea Thatcher on February 3rd, 2008

Herve%20Leger%20collage.jpg

While running around back of the tents headed backstage at Twinkle by Wenlan (more on that later) I spied a bunch of photogs snapping away at the backstage entrance, so of course I had to join them! It turns out celebs were just getting out of the much anticipated Herve Leger by Max Azria show. I spotted Joss Stone who was everywhere today, Padma Lakshmi, model and wooden (though beautiful) Top Chef host, and Rose McGowan who is rumored to be at many shows tomorrow.

I was most impressed with McGowan’s style, she had on a beautiful black trench coat and was actually reticent to take it off because she felt like it didn’t go with what was underneath. It was cute to see a celebrity have a self-concious moment like that.
