It looks like it’s all over red rover for Jennifer Lopez’s fashion label, Sweetface in America. The singer is pulling the plug on her contemporary sportswear brand after six years.
“In light of some new company strategies, we have decided to put the Sweetface line on hiatus while we prepare to reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view,” the company said in a statement.
When Jen is planning to relaunch her label is as yet unknown, but it marks the latest blow in her clothing empire. In 2007, the company shut down its JLO brand and replaced it with justsweet to be distributed outside of the U.S. This line was also closed down after only a few seasons. The good news is that Sweetface Fashion Co., her parent company will continue to distribute her brands overseas.

The Fashion Group International hosted its 25th Annual Night of Stars this week at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Donatella Versace was awarded with the Superstar Award, the top honor of the evening. In the fashion category Francisco Costa, Christopher Bailey, Carla and Franca Sozzani, and Christian Louboutin also won awards. Stars and fashion fans in attendance included Kate Bosworth, Ashley Olsen, Leigh Lezark and a few members of the cast of Gossip Girl. And of course Jennifer Lopez and Karl Lagerfeld, pictured below.

Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2009 girl is not worried about the failing economy – she slept through the news of all the banks failing. The designers call this collection Pajama Baroque, a slightly upscale version of the name we gave it – sexy pajama party. More Upper East Side than Playboy Manion, naturalmente. This is one line that did not pander to woes about an economic crisis and we’re happy for it because it’s also one of the more exciting collections we’ve seen.
Star power doesn’t hurt either. J.Lo, Dita Von Teese, models galore…they were all front row and on the runway.

How do you steal the limelight from Marc Jacobs? How about rocking up with a new ‘do, bringing Jennifer Lopez (in RM Roland Mouret) along for the ride? Ahhh, Posh, how we love you! Also on the circuit were ‘it’ couple Mark and Daisy looking too cool for school, Gossip Girl’s Michelle at Jill Stuart and Mary-Kate and Nicole cosying up for some front row photos at Proenza Schouler. With all these celebs attending the shows it’s a wonder there are seats left for anyone who actually works in fashion…

New York Fashion Week - Gossip

Fashion Week’s in full swing and there’s only one question on everyone’s lips…where the hell is Sophia Bush? Last season’s NY Fashion Week darling hasn’t really been around the tents this year (neither has her biggest contender to the title, Mandy Moore) but there have still been plenty of big names gracing the front row. Jennifer Lopez took to the tents for Diane Von Furstenberg, sporting some of the biggest shades since Nicole Richie discovered Dior. Meanwhile, TV’s glam blondes Blake Lively and Becky Newton were there to show some support for Miss Sixty. Another noticeable absentee was Jessica Biel…surely she should have been showing her man some support at William Rast?

Like all good Dior shows there is bound to be a slew of famous faces sitting in the front row, and last night’s cruise ’09 show was no different. The event attracted the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Leighton Meester, Tinsley Mortimer, Rachel Zoe and Christina Aguilera. By far the best dressed on the night was Theron who looked stunning in a frilled purple modified dress hot off the runway from the collection. Likewise, Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester wowed in a lime green pleated piece from the label’s autumn ’07 range.

Gwen Stefani is sitting pretty among female musicians who also have contemporary fashion or accessories lines.
According to a poll conducted by Los Angeles-based E-Poll Market Research, Stefani has the most overall appeal, with 57%. She beat out Mandy Moore, Beyonce Knowles, and Jennifer Lopez who took the 2nd through 4th spots respectively.

Movies Rock, much like Fashion Rocks, is a celebration of music in film and was held at the Kodak Theatre last night. Singers and actors mingled on the red carpet, while songs from popular movies were performed by the likes of Mary J. Blige, Fergie and Jennifer Lopez. For the blonde stars on the red carpet, it seems that a black dress was the essential item, though in Jennifer Morrison’s case it was a black jumpsuit. Diane Kruger showed off her legs in a strapless black mini dress, accessorised with a silver clutch, red lipstick and black Manolo Blahniks. Alicia Silverstone chose a drop waist handkerchief hem black dress, with Jennifer Morrison choosing a dramatic black jumpsuit with very wide legs. According to Us Weekly, Jennifer Lopez‘s mother, Guadalupe, 61, has confirmed that Jennifer is in fact four months pregnant and is telling people that she’s having twins! After appearing on MTV’s “Total Request Live” on Monday (above, left), cohost Damien Fahey said that it was obvious J. Lo was pregnant from the way she was moving and sitting. And she’s been wearing an awfully lot of shift dresses lately (as can be seen from her “Good Morning America” performance yesterday, above, center). Apparently it’s been really difficult for Lopez to get pregnant in the past years, so she and Marc Anthony are ecstatic.

Is she pregnant? Is she not? Then I heard she tripped on stage Monday night. Lots of buzz surrounding Jennifer Lopez, lately. Last night at her album release party at the NY hotspot Buddakan, she was dressed head to toe in black. Hiding a bump perhaps? I can’t see much detail about her outfit but what I can see I’m loving–the black leather leggings. They are super sexy paired with that chunky black heel–I want them right this minute! They remind me of something Catwoman or Angelina wore in Lara Croft Tomb Raider. Maybe I need some overly confident female threads! What do you say to the uber sexy leather legging–yay or nay?

Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, known for animal prints and curve-hugging dresses (see image above) worn by Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, has been slated to join the likes of Viktor & Rolf and Stella McCartney to design a collection for H&M.
Margareta van der Bosch, creative director for H&M, said of the designer, “There is no place for shyness and no possibility of ending up with a mainstream wardrobe of everyday basics. The Roberto Cavalli collections represent an exuberant, successful lifestyle.”
