The long black dress was at the centre of the fashion world yesterday as celebrities opted for this look at a range of events.
Channelling the look over in the US was Nicole Richie who went for a simple plunge neck version for the 15th Annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards.
She was joined at the event by Agyness Deyn who opted for the long black frock in a see through lace version. Over at the MLS Western Conference Championship Victoria Beckham went for a black frock, while baby Harper Seven dressed in grey for the event.
And it was the same fashion story in London with Amber and Yasmin Le Bon both opting for black dresses at the Harpers Bazaar Women of the Year Awards. Amber channelled the lace look while her mother stuck to a classic asymmetric strapless look.

She was followed by Lana Del Rey who also sported the biker jacket over a white and yellow frock.

Jessie J uses Copydex glue to stick on her false eyelashes
Jessie J uses glue on her eyes.
The ‘Price Tag’ hitmaker claims using Copydex adhesive has given her the best results with false eyelashes – though she admits it has some unwanted effects.
She said: “I use Copydex adhesive to put on my eyelashes. Everyone looks at me like I’m crazy. It smells a bit fishy but it stays put and it’s so sticky that you can reuse them.”
While Jessie hates the smell of her eyelash glue, she is a big fan of a particular hair product because of its scent.
She said: “My hair hot list includes the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette range, Bumble and Bumble and Argan oil. And I love TIGI smoothing Lusterizer – it has glitter in it and makes your hair smell like bubblegum.”
The 23-year-old star also admitted she is trying to use less make-up as she thinks she has overdone it in the past.
She told Now magazine: “My beauty resolution is to tone it down a bit. Sometimes I look at myself and think, ‘Woah there Jess.’ “

Jessie J gets a scooter so she can get around at the MOBO Awards
Jessie J is set to be given a mobility scooter so she can get around the MOBO Awards easily.
The ‘Do It Like A Dude’ singer is up for four prizes at the ceremony which takes place at the SECC in Glasgow, Scotland, tonight and is set to perform even though she is wearing a special support boot after breaking her left foot in June.
Organisers want to make sure the injured pop star is comfortable during the night and have requested she be provided her with a “pimped up” motorised scooter to get around the venue.
An insider told BANG Showbiz: “As Jessie is nominated for four awards and performing, she’s potentially going to be up and down from the stage five times. We don’t want her to do anything that might hamper her injury so we’re looking at some ways to make it easier for her.”
Jessie – who had to cancel a number of festival and live appearances, including a support slot on Katy Perry’s tour, due to the injury – is up for Best Album for ‘Who You Are’, Best Newcomer, Best UK Act and Best Video and Best Song for ‘Do It Like a Dude’.
The 23-year-old singer is set to fight it out with Adele – who has four nominations – in the Best UK Act, Best Album and Best Song categories, with the soul singer nominated for her worldwide hit LP ’21′ and track ‘Someone Like You’.
The 16th annual MOBO Awards, in association with Lebara Mobile, take place this evening and extra tickets are available at www.mobo.com.
The annual ceremony – which recognises music of black origin in the UK – is televised live on BBC Three at 10pm with highlights being broadcast on Friday October 7 on BBC One at 11.45pm.

ShinyStyle loves: Fringed fashion
Jessie J wore a quirky lilac-fringed bodysuit for her performance at V Festival
If you’re sad that summer is pretty much over now and you’d like to cling on to your louche, festival-style outfits as much longer as possible, it’s worth taking note of the summer’s fringing trend which will happily still be wearable when winter comes. We spotted more than a couple of artists rocking the trend at V Festival over the weekend, as Jessie J wore a quirky eighties-inspired bodysuit with purple fringed sleeves for a dramatic take on dancewear and Katy B teamed black skinny jeans and a band T-shirt with her fringed black cardigan for a 70s hard rock look.
Wild West-influenced styles are huge for this Autumn/Winter, a look that fringing and tasselled pieces will fit into nicely. For wrapping up warm you could try Urban Outfitter’s amazing plaid hooded cape with tassels (checks and tartan are massive this season too) and team with a little dress and opaque tights for a snug and chic back-to-school look. Or if you want to go a bit more down the evening-wear route try a showgirl-style fringed dress like the amazingly sexy dip-dyed red one that we found at Rare – big earrings and some simple high-heeled sandals will make you look like a glamorous heiress.
Of course, if you’re tentative when it comes to the idea of head-to-toe fringing and can’t get the image of Dolly Parton out of your head, a simple fringed bag or accessory can add a touch of laidback bohemian cool to an outfit. We love ASOS’ black fringed hoop earrings – so Edie Sedgwick.
Check out the gallery for our favourite fringed pieces on the high street.

Rihanna showed off her shaggy new 70s brunette 'do with a sexy waist-tied deniim shirt and leather hot-pants
Was I the only person in the world to have not gone to V Festival this weekend? It’s certainly been the only thing anyone on my Facebook has been writing about anyway.
It looks like the line-up this year was absolutely amazing for pop-lovers, with the likes of Rihanna at the top of the billing. Ri-Ri herself was every bit the Bajan vision she normally is in a sexy tie-waist denim shirt and a pair of figure-hugging leather shorts. We couldn’t help noticing that her scarlet hair is gone all of a sudden in exchange for a shaggy, honey-brunette ‘do, which looks great but we’re unsure as to which we prefer..
Jessie J looked radiant and excited to be performing despite her broken leg in a mental Lets Get Physical style panelled bodysuit, with long lilac fringing trailing along the sleeves to compliment her new purple hair. Jessie wasn’t the only one to rock fringed outfits for the festival either, as Katy B performed in a cool black shredded jacket and Noisettes singer Shingai Shoniwa wore a scarlet bodysuit with fringed details..
The festival’s biggest fashion surprise, however, was N-Dubz’ Tulisa in a Jeremy Scott-style one-shouldered dress in a bold animal print. Long gone are the days of baby pink trackies onstage for our new favourite X Factor judge – Tulisa clearly knows that now is the time to have a little bit more fun with her look. Yabbadabbadoo!
