While most of us are just shopping the Target Go International Jovovich-Hawk collection, Target is announcing its next designer phenom: Richard Chai.
Seen at left with a look from his Fall 2008 runway show, Chai is an Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winner.
He joins fellow GO designers Jovovich-Hawk and Rogan Gregory, Target’s latest recruits, in offering new ranges this year.
Jovovich-Hawk’s collection is selling quickly, while Rogan Gregory’s collection, which could be limited to swimwear, is due around May. Chai will launch a limited-edition womenswear collection in early August.

The Jovovich-Hawk collection for Target’s GO International initiative hit stores over the weekend, and it’s definitely worth a trip to the hip mass retailer.
There has got to be a dress for everyone in this collection, in store I counted at least 10, five of which I tried on and one of which I purchased. Thirteen of them are online. If you’re looking for your first spring dress or something for Easter this would be an excellent place to start.
There are a ton of trapeze dresses which hide a multitude of sins, but if you’re curvy, they may end up looking a little tent-like. A couple, like the crosshatch apron dress and corset front dress were a little too costumey. But perhaps this was because I’d just come from seeing The Other Boleyn Girl.

Target may not associate with bloggers but that won’t stop Catwalk Queen from talking about Jovovich-Hawk’s new diffusion range for the retailer. After all, they – and we – adore Milla Jovovich! Come to think of it, a lot of these dress look like they could have come from our favorite Milla movie – Dazed and Confused! The first pics from the collection have been unveiled and they have the designers’ folksy stamp all over it. Those light smock dresses and vintage-style prints are ideal for the warmer months.

Since we were raving about Basic Boutique, we decided to do some shopping and came across this blouse from Jovovich-Hawk. The basic white button down gets a dose of style with three-quarter puff sleeves and a bow at the neck – trendy without overdoing it. And it’s currently on sale for $132, down from $264.

We love finding resort items that can be worn in everyday life, like this Zoe dress from Jovovich-Hawk (we love finding long-sleeve dresses any season, actually). The $526 silk dress comes in a stunning royal blue and features a removable chiffon belt. The removable belt is key as you can adjust the waistline to the height that’s most flattering on you. And while it isn’t going to win any warmth awards, it’s not too skimpy and with tights and/or boots might be bearable even on chilly city streets.

Target is on a roll, announcing another fabulous designer for an upcoming collection. First, it was Alice Temperley, then Erin Fetherston (both still to come), now it’s Jovovich-Hawk. Designed by model/actress Milla Jovovich and model Carmen Hawk, the vintage-inspired clothing is worn by fashion trendsetters like Chloe Sevigny and Joy Bryant. Jovovich told the LA Times recently “Our Target line will have all our classic pieces: smock dresses, tunics, minis, all vintage-inspired, great prints,” she said. “To be able to do it with a big company that can afford to do it for a good price so that real girls can afford it. That’s the reason we were interested.” The collection will appear in stores this spring and clothing will retails for about US$35.
