Christmas and New Year’s Eve party outfit ideas: The Jumpsuit

By Andrea Petrou on December 20th, 2011

If a dress or skirt isn’t your cup of tea then why not give a nod to the seventies this Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Take inspiration from the Studio 54 look and go for a black flared number or play it simple and sophisticated with a haterneck all in one.

Those wishing to add some sparkle to the party can opt for sequined numbers, which are hot on the highstreet this year, while prints will also ensure you stay bang on-trend at that Christmas or New Year’s Eve party.

See the gallery below for our top five.

Designer Christmas outfit inspiration: The jumpsuit

By Andrea Petrou on November 30th, 2011

The 70s are a hot fashion topic right now. And while we love all the funky prints and denim the best style to come out of this era and into this season is of course the jumpsuit.
This little one piece has been around for a few seasons but for AW 2011 its taken on a wide legged silhouette and a satin, velvet or silk appearance.
If you want to wear one of these lovelies to that Christmas party then keep it simple. Add a thin waist belt to accentuate that wide leg and add some super high heels.

Finish off the look with a little leather jacket to go right back to that Studio 54 look.

See the gallery below for some designer inspiration.

Trend Alert: Top five denim must-haves.

By Andrea Petrou on June 16th, 2010

Ah denim. It’s been around for a very long time and judging by the spring/summer catwalk collections it’s here to stay and, if anything be bigger and better than ever.

Channelling the 80s trend this season it’s all about light, washed denim dresses, jumpsuits and of course jeans. And if you’re feeling brave enough then you could you could also take this a step further by going for the very 80s double denim look (think denim jackets and jeans, denim shorts teamed up with waistcoats and ever denim shirts over jeans).

We’ve put together some of our favourite denim looks out there. Mix and match or wear them together for a summer season look.

Christmas party outfits: Playsuits and jumpsuits

By Andrea Petrou on November 13th, 2009

Jumpsuits and playsuits have bounced back in from the 80s and landed firmly in the midst of this season’s popular styles.

Many celebs have been spotted wearing this debatable fashion including Sarah Harding who celebrated the opening of her new nightclub in a striking blue jumpsuit.

And as you can imagine, many designers have made them key parts of their collection, including Zandra Rhodes who designed a range of theses for Marks and Spencer.

If you want to stand out in style at this year’s Christmas party then this is a fashion trend that will really get everyone talking.

We have a look at the best jumpsuits and playsuits available on the highstreet.

Zandra Rhodes designs another collection for Marks and Spencer

By Andrea Petrou on November 6th, 2009

Zandra.jpgSeventies and hippy style chicks will be as excited as we are to hear that legendary fashion designer Zandra Rhodes has launched another collection for Marks and Spencer.

The seventies style creator has returned to the highstreet store for another season after the success of her first collection and we predict this range, which includes batwing tops, revamped 21st century jumpsuits and velvet and suede fabrics, will do just as well.

We’ll see you at the checkouts.

Yay or Nay

Yay or Nay Wednesday: jumpsuits

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 21st, 2009

Moschino jumpsuit.jpg

It was one thing when pop stars started wearing short jumpsuits ironically (Katie Perry) and then starlets started wearing them to show off their bodies (Blake Lively) but now the long 70′s jumpsuit is back?

Moschino Cheap & Chic, shown, was just one spring 09 collection that included long, flowy jumpsuits as the new take on the maxidress.

What do you think? Is this an awesome revival or something best left in the time capsule? Yay or Nay?
