Katie Holmes wants to travel the world with her daughter.
The 32-year-old actress is eager to embark on the “next chapter” in her life, and is looking forward to taking on new dramatic roles and experiencing new cultures with five-year-old Suri, her child with husband Tom Cruise.
She said: “I feel ready for the next chapter of my life. I’m excited to begin a new phase: roles I might have been afraid to play before, places I want to travel to with my daughter. I’d like to build the design business. But not too fast.”
The former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star also admitted she is also keen to get rid of her mobile phone and live life in a more “old-fashioned” way.
She added in an interview with Marie Claire magazine: “I’m thinking about getting rid of [my cell phone]. Wouldn’t it be great to have an old-fashioned phone sheet? Go to your office, make your calls, and then continue with your day?”
Katie also revealed she has to work hard to balance motherhood with her career, but she is pleased to be able to expose Suri to people with “incredible talent”.
Asked how she balances the two, she said: “Because you have to. As an actress who is also a mother, you don’t have the luxury of drama.
“Being around this business, my daughter is exposed to people with incredible talent, people who are the best at what they do. People I only dreamed of getting to work with as a little girl.”

Bless the little thing – Katie Holmes has said that she glams up far more when she’s coming over here to Europe.
The 32-year-old actress doesn’t like the idea of feeling out of place in the clothes that you’re wearing, so she makes an extra effort to dress according to which city or country she’s in.
The “Kennedys” star says she’s a huge fan of European fashion and lists MaxMara and Isobel Marant as two favourites of hers.
Katie said: “I like dressing to suit the places I travel to. So if I’m in New York, I’ll wear a little more black. In Europe I try to be extra dressed up and in LA I’m probably my most laid back. I lie to fit in.”
That’s quite sweet, actually. Thanks for making such an effort for us Europeans!

Katie Holmes has admitted that she often takes inspiration from her tiny daughter Suri’s already refined luxurious sense of style.
Being the super-child of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Suri has developed an expensive taste for designer dresses, ladylike handbags and high heels. (To be honest it’s no surprise that Katie digs her daughter’s style so much when little Suri dresses like a 40-year old PTA member.)
Katie said about her daughter’s budding love for fashion, “My daughter has been choosing her own outfits since she was two. We go to fabric stores and sew together … Suri is my style critic. I know I look good when Suri asks if she can have my outfit when she’s older. Suri is magical when it comes to clothes – she’s quite an artist.”

Katie Holmes loves Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge’s style.
The ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ star admires the styling of Catherine Middleton – who became a duchess in April when she married Prince William, the second in line to the English throne – as well the way her sister, Pippa, dresses.
Speaking at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Sunday (26.06.11), Katie told Usmagazine.com: “I love both Kate’s and Pippa’s style and I think they are incredible. I’m so happy for Kate – I wish them the best!”
The 32-year-old star was also full of praise for her husband, Tom Cruise, whom she revealed is newly buff for his role as tattooed musician Stacee Jaxx in ‘Rock of Ages’.
She said: “His body looks great and I’m so excited for him playing this character.
It is also possible Katie and Tom may get to meet the duke and duchess, through their mutual friends David and Victoria Beckham.
The royal couple invited the Beckhams to their wedding and are likely to meet with them in coming weeks when their first royal tour together makes a stop in California, and the Beckhams are sure to be keen to introduce them to some of their close friends.

Suri Cruise’s shoe collection is worth over £100,000.
The five-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has reportedly had several pairs of high-heeled footwear specially-made for her and already has favourite designers.
A source said: “Suri has so many designer shoes.
“She’s a massive fan of Marc Jacobs and she’s had several shoes custom-made, so if they didn’t come with a heel, Katie had them redesigned for Suri. She commissioned a pair of Louboutins for her a while back!”
Suri is said to insist on only wearing high heels and her famous father is happy to indulge her tastes.
The insider added to Britain’s Star magazine: “The older she gets, the less she wants to wear anything but little heels.
“Even when she’s going to play dates or walking on the beach, she cries if Katie reaches for anything but a little pair of sandals with some sort of heel. She literally cries, ‘No, Mama, no!’ And then points to whatever pair she feels like wearing – no matter how inappropriate!”
“Tom loves seeing his little girl dressed up so girlie and cute. He encourages her to wear frilly dresses and tiny heels. He says Suri is growing up to be as fashionable as her mum.
“Everything’s pink. She’s a young girl who knows what she wants.”
However, Katie is said to be getting tired of her daughter’s requests – particularly as she also insists on selecting outfits for her parents.
The source said: “It’s hard keeping up with a growing girl. Suri sometimes picks out the shoes her mum should wear, and then picks out shoes for her dad.
“They genuinely seem to value her opinion and want her to make her own decisions.”

Katie Holmes has collaborated with Italian design house Valextra to create a luxury bag.
The actress and her Holmes & Yang fashion label co-founder Jeanne Yang will launch two versions of the calfskin tote, one in white and navy and the other white and black, which will retail for $3,950, in July.
Speaking about Valextra, Katie told WWD: “Their quality is exceptional. There’s such integrity in their work – they’re artists.”
Valextra CEO Emanuele Carminati Molina revealed the company were delighted to team up with Katie and Jeanne because they admire the “simple but chic” style of Holmes & Yang.
He explained: “This was our first collaboration [and it's been] really incredible. We decided to follow the desires of Katie and Jeanne who wanted to have their own bag realised by Valextra. Because they love our products…and we wanted to see, and understand which style they were wearing. We understood that the style is simple but very chic, clean lines, sophisticated, with a lot of attention to the details. I knew that it was good for Valextra to try, and to mix our style with their style.”
The entire design process only took two weeks with Katie meeting with the Valextra team when she visited Milan for Fashion Week in February.

Katie Holmes loved the classic look she portrays in her new movie.
The actress premiered her debut short film ‘The Decision’ in New York last night and Katie revealed she was a big fan of the loose curls and dramatic red lips she sports in the mini-movie which she collaborated on with John Frieda to showcase the company’s Precision Foam Colour product.
She said: “You know this was a really fun project to work on and a great opportunity to bridge movies into beauty and I had a wonderful time working with John Frieda. I worked with [celebrity hairstylist] Harry Josh, he did my hair, it was really fun. It was something different, it was sort of a period look, so we had a good time.”
The short tells the story of high-profile actress Joan Hudson (Katie) who decides to sack her hair colourist and dye her own hair instead and Katie revealed she loved working on a project that her fans can relate to.
She explained to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I love the idea of doing a short film about something I feel is really important to women. I also love being part of promoting a product that is available to all women.”

Katie Holmes developed her Holmes & Yang clothing line especially for “working moms”.
The actress established the fashion range with her stylist Jeanne Yang and Jeanne revealed their mission when they started was to create a set of clothes that busy mothers can “depend on”.
She said: “Sometimes when life gets really busy you don’t want to have to think about what it is you’re going to wear and you just want to have certain pieces that you know you can just depend on – what are those pieces? – and so that was kind of our challenge.
“Both of us are working moms, so we’re pretty busy, and, having a line, being moms and then having our careers is quite a lot.”
The business partners started their line after realising that they were both fans of sewing at home.
Jeanne told NY magazine: “It’s so rare, unfortunately, that I actually know people who are into crafting and doing stuff like that.
Katie – who has a four-year-old daughter, Suri, with husband Tom Cruise – said her favourite things to sew are “aprons for the girls, pillows, tablecloths, baby clothes, Barbie clothes.”
The pair also agree that making money from the label isn’t as important as all the pieces being produced in the US.
Jeanne said: “100 percent of our line is produced here in the States. We can make some of the most beautiful luxury pieces here.
“Kate and I are always talking about how we’re Americans, and we want people to realise this, and so our price points – you know we don’t have the best margins but it doesn’t matter for us.”
Katie added: “It’s more important that it’s made in the USA.”
