Katy Perry gets a new tattoo
Katy Perry has had a new tattoo inked on her foot.
The One That Got Away singer had the design – a smiling peppermint sweet with big eyelashes – done after a concert in Los Angeles last week, while husband Russell Brand also had a design on the back of his arm; the logo of his favourite soccer team, West Ham United.
The tattoos were created by legendary tattoo artist Bang Bang – real name Keith McCurdy – who has previously completed body art for a host of stars, including Rihanna and Chris Brown.
Following his work on the 27-year-old pop beauty, Katy then turned the gun on him, giving him the same design on his leg.
She has been working up to the body art for some time, noting on twitter last week: “I’m getting MY tattoo TOMORROW! #tourtat (sic)”
Katy is a big fan of tattoos, and previously revealed she once came close to having Freddie Mercury’s likeness recreated on her back once.
She said: “Freddie Mercury was – and remains – my biggest influence.
“The combination of his sarcastic approach to writing lyrics and his ‘I don’t give a f**k’ attitude really inspired my music.
“I nearly got a huge tattoo of Freddie Mercury’s face on my back a few years ago. It’s probably for the best that I didn’t get it done, but I still want to do it.”
Christmas party make up looks: Glitter eyes as seen on Kate Moss, Emma Watson and more
Christmas is the time that you can really get away with OTT make up. One trend that we’re loving and is perfect for that Chrimbo party is glitter eyes.
The look seen on the likes of Emma Watson and Kylie Minogue can be as bold or as simple as you like.
For a toned down look go for a glitter eye shadow with lashings of mascara and dark kohl a la Kate Moss and Katy Perry or take a leaf out of Emma Watson’s make up book and add some little gems for a more dramatic look.

Katy Perry says new fragrance Meow is more “edible” than her first
Katy Perry’s latest fragrance is “more edible” than her first scent.
The I Kissed A Girl singer – who is currently on her ‘California Dreams’ world tour – thinks her latest perfume Meow, a follow up to her debut smell Purr, is the “perfect snapshot” of her busy life which currently consists of playing gigs worldwide.
She told People: “The first fragrance (Purr) was more floral, by a long while, and this one is a lot more edible.
“It’s the perfect snapshot of where my head is right now, especially being on tour.”
The brunette beauty wants to “make memories” with her latest scent – which is made up of honeysuckle and pear, with a base of vanilla, musk and amber – by creating an iconic scent so people will remember where they were when they smelt it.
She added: “I think that you can hear a song, and it’ll take you back to that moment, or that person, or that time in your life.
“Same thing with your sense of smell – it’s really powerful. So I thought I could make memories with people with Purr or Meow.”
The 27-year-old stunner got the idea for the pink, cat-shaped bottle of her Meow perfume from going to local markets when was younger.
She explained: “I grew up going to flea markets, and all the vintage stores and the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. I’d always look for milk glass – that beautiful, vintage milk glass that held candles, or salt and pepper. I definitely wanted to use it for Meow.”
Christmas party outfit ideas: Top five silver dresses
There’s four weeks until Christmas and we can’t wait. However before we get to eat that turkey and those pigs in blankets there’s a whole range of Christmas parties to get through and that means scouting the highstreet for that perfect outfit.
One hot trend this year is silver. A big hit on the red carpet this hue can be fashioned into a whole range of styles from plain satin to sequined numbers.
Channel the animal print look with a sequined printed number or go for something a little bit more daring with a metallic boob tube dress.
Those wishing to look that little bit more classic can also go for a vintage number. Grab those black heels and a black clutch bag and you’re ready to go.

Katy Perry says her new fragrance – Meow – was inspired by her world tour
Katy Perry’s new fragrance has been inspired by her world tour.
The Firework hitmaker has been working on Meow, the follow-up to her debut perfume Purr and admitted the sweetness of the scent comes from her on stage set which resembles a giant confectionary world.
She explained: “Purr to me was a little bit more floral, and Meow is a little bit more sweet. It was probably because of the California Dreams tour that it was more of the confectionary world, because everything I’ve seen for the last year has been like cotton-candy scented or huge peppermints or massive gummy bears.”
Katy also revealed she is a huge fan of singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani because she admires the “quality” of the products she produces.
She told WWD: “I think she’s such a great example of a woman who puts out quality products associated with her name. That’s because she’s not shoving it down anyone’s throats. She has great taste, great timing and she’s got a cool style about her. I have seen a lot of the perfumes out there – some of my peers – and I’m like, ‘Did you really approve this?’ I guess I’m personally offended because maybe I do like that person’s music, but you’ve got to make quality decisions. You can’t just cash in all the time. I’ve always told anyone I’m working with that if I don’t like the product, I’m not going to show up.”

Katy Perry wants her Twitter followers to guess the name of her new fragrance
Katy Perry will ask her fans to guess the name of her new perfume via twitter.
The California Gurls hitmaker – who released her debut fragrance Purr, earlier this year – will launch the new scent later this year in association with Gigantic Parfums and from next week on will invite her twitter followers to submit their ideas for its name.
According to WWD, Katy, 26, created the new fragrance while on her ‘California Dreams’ world tour.
The popstar has previously claimed her Purr fragrance is “like the Goldilocks of perfume”, saying people can tell from their very first sniff that the “cute” scent is “just right” and matched perfectly to her wild, fun loving, loud and convivial nature.
She said: “It’s like the Goldilocks of perfume. It s not too much, it’s not too forgettable, it’s just right. It’s basically me in a bottle. I think a lot of people go up and they go, ‘That’s definitely Katy Perry. This is definitely Katy Perry’s perfume.’ ”
She has also gave advice on the best way to apply the scent.
She said: “I usually spray and walk through. I never spray directly on
“I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to spray directly on the skin. Then it’s not so concentrated, because everybody knows sometimes when a woman walks into a room, she can smell like her grandmother.”
Katy Perry wants a Pixie hairstyle but not for too long
Katy Perry would love to try a pixie haircut but only for a short time.
The 26-year-old beauty sports a short crop in her new campaign for the ghd Scarlet Collection and although Katy loves experimenting with her hair, she admitted the look is slightly too “bold” for her to maintain for very long.
She said: “The Snow White look is very different for me because it is a very short bob, but we were inspired by the Art Deco era – a bit flapper-y, a bit 1940′s. The furniture is very Art Deco. I love my nails in it, and my bob that has little curls coming around it.
“I think it’s a bold look for me, especially for the short hair, but I’ve actually had a pixie cut before. I used to have a black pixie cut when I was about 17-18-19 so I felt I was reliving that part of my life again. It’s really cute. I’d probably wear this look again, but I probably wouldn’t do it for long.”
The ghd Scarlet Collection includes a gorgeous heat resistant red satin styler roll bag, perfectly encasing the limited edition red plated stylers, along with two sectioning clips and protective plate guard.
Katy often experiments with different looks – recently dying her locks pink – but the brunette star misses her
natural blonde hair and would love to try “a long, hippie-esque blonde look with black roots”.
She said: “I might like trying being a blonde – a long, hippie-esque blonde with black roots. We’ll see.”
Fashion meets technology: LED light dresses as seen on Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna
Although we love the latest trends over here at ShinyStyle, sometimes we like to cast our minds a little bit further afield. And today is one of those days.
After seeing X Factor’s Kitty wearing an LED light leotard during bootcamp we began to think about how this technology has firmly wormed its way into the fashion world.
Most of this can be blamed on Katy Perry who kicked started this look way back in 2009 when she wore a purple frock complete with LED light detailing from designers Cute Circuit. She has since been spotted in a range of these at events ranging from premieres to the MET Gala.
And her style choice has filtered down to other celebrities. Queen of quirk Lady Gaga opted for an LED light outfit for her tour, while Katy’s BFF Rihanna took a leaf out of her style book and was spotted in a black and red LED frock during her concert.
And its not just the celebrity world that’s gone mad over this trend with the likes of Atton Conrad and Hussein Chalayan also opting for this look for part of their catwalk collections.

Spotted at the VMAs: Zoe Saldana, Beyonce, Katy Perry and more
Katy Perry looked pretty and girlish with her new pink 'do in a chinoise-style dress and a pastel blue parasol
Whether you watched the VMAs on Saturday night or not, it’s always fun to have a peep at what the stars wore to one of the USA’s biggest A-list events.
Katy Perry, who came away smiling like the cat got the cream with three awards, went through more than one outfit change but our absolute favourite quirky Katy look for the night has to be the girlish Eastern-style powder blue chinoise dress, which looked cute and cartoonish with her pink hair and a matching pastel-coloured parasol.
As we all now know, Beyonce glowed with new-baby happiness all the way down the red carpet in a sizzling one-shouldered, draped orange maxi with her hair swept to one side, vintage-style. We loved her chandelier earrings too – pure 70s Halston glamour. Meanwhile, our favourite home-grown talent Adele also rocked a look from a different decade as she went for a clinging black midi-dress with huge 60s hair and makeup. Perfect.
Katie Holmes sassed it out on the red carpet with expertly teased waves and a black lace skater dress and tan suede wedge boots, while poor old Jessie J still looked sexy and upbeat despite her crutches in a jewelled black corset-body and a pair of white jewelled Bebaroque tights.

Katy Perry claims her good skin is all down to Proactiv skin care
The glam “Friday Night” singer Katy Perry has banished all of her skin problems for good, claiming that it is all down to Proactiv Solution skincare.
Some particularly mean paparazzi have managed to photograph the star make-up free in the past, showing off bumpy and spotty skin, but that seems to be a thing of the past. (To be honest, we can’t really that her skin was ever that bad at all, but you know.)
Katy said about her new, clear skin: “After trying every procedure, facial treatment and product I could find, I finally decided to try Proactiv. I mean, I had nothing to lose except my acne, and I was definitely okay with losing that. Since then, I’ve seen massive changes in my face and my confidence. All of my big, kind of stick-out bumps went flat, my blemishes progressively got smaller and smaller, and even some of my scarring started going away.”
We’ve always admired Katy’s smooth, clear skin, so it’s nice to know that she at least gets normal breakouts sometimes. Having said that, congratulations to the singer – now pass us the Proactiv. If it’s good enough for KP, it’s good enough for us.
