From Catwalk Queen: With the Elizabeth films, and Marie Antoinette now behind us, are you craving a bit of bodice-ripping fashion? Then new movie, The Duchess, will be right up your alley. Starring Keira Knightley (don’t let that put you off), the new flick is based on Amanda Foreman’s biography of the scandalous life of Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, an 18th century aristocrat. It features a stellar cast including Ralph Fiennes, Hayley Atwell, and Dominic Cooper, and of course some amazing costumes.

Check out the new trailer for the film after the jump…

Can Mario Testino’s September ’08 issue save Vogue from a sales slump?

By Kimberley Foster on July 8th, 2008

Mario Testino’s three-week diary for The Independent has revealed that yes, those photos of him and Keira Knightley taking happy snaps in Berlin, will form the September ’08 cover of Vogue US.

Now that we know this, we can’t help but wonder whether the pressure is now on Testino and co. to get this next cover right after it was reported that Vogue’s April and May issues suffered poor sales. Just 350,000 copies were sold of that controversial April issue featuring Gisele Bundchen and NBA star LeBron James, a la King-Kong style, making it the worst selling April issue since 2001.

Oscar nominations revealed, but will the couture headed to L.A. actually be worn?

By Andrea Thatcher on January 22nd, 2008

Oscar%20nominations.jpg

The Oscar nominations are out, and as for fashionistas it seems to be a case of the sophisticate and the ingenue – with Keira Knightley somewhere in the middle.

Cate Blanchett is nominated for best actress in a leading role for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and also for best actress in a supporting role for I’m Not There. This is Blanchett’s fourth nomination, and she won once before in 2005 for her supporting role in The Aviator - as seen above.

Past pics of 2008 Golden Globe winners: Cate Blanchett and Keira Knightley

By Andrea Thatcher on January 13th, 2008

Golden%20Globes%201.jpg

We’re not really sure it was worth listening to Billy Bush and Nancy O’Dell to hear about the Golden Globe winners live, so if you’ve waited until Monday morning to check out the highlights, good job.

Two of our favorite fashionista winners were Cate Blanchett for best supporting actress in I’m Not There, and Keira Knightley whose film Atonement won for best motion picture, drama.

Here we show Cate at the American Film Institute awards in December. We love the dress but find the length a little awkward. One of Keira’s 2007 style high points was the L.A. premiere of Atonement in an ethereal Rodarte dress.

The Golden Globe nominations are out, and some of our favorite fashionistas – plus a few newcomers – have made the list. But who will make the really important list: the best dressed list? With American Gangster, Atonement, Eastern Promises, The Great Debaters, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood nominated for best motion picture drama, and Across the Universe, Charlie Wilson’s War, Hairspray, Juno and Sweeney Todd up for musical/comedy, we can count on some of our favorite stars making the red carpet their runway for the night. Read on to see what we’re hoping for as well as a picture of Hayden Panettiere at the nominations.

Keira Knightley et al on the red carpet at Atonement premiere

By Andrea Thatcher on December 4th, 2007

The Cinema Society and CHANEL BEAUTE hosted a screening of Keira Knightley’s latest movie, Atonement, in New York last night. Keira, the face of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, walked the red carpet in a black coat with white bell sleeves peeking out, paired with opaque black tights and patent black heels. Also on the red carpet was Susan Sarandon and Meryl Streep’s daughters, Eva Amurri (she definitely inherited her mother’s defined cheekbones) and Mamie Gummer. Sporting the same red lips as she does in the Coco Mademoiselle advertisements, Keira took off her fitted back jacket to reveal a black satin cowl neck dress (or top?) and a pretty white blouse.
